Chapter 1
My story begins on a summer's day in 1990. The times had changed and everything was going great in Orlando, Florida until a young man had taken over his father's business in the family's mafia. Carmine Diamond had lost his mother at the age of five years old, and his father was on a business trip for the mafia he ran. No one dared to mess with them. The year that Carmine took over the Diamond Mafia, was the year that his father had passed away from cancer. Carmine knew that her father hadn’t actually passed from cancer, but had been poisoned by a rival Mafia. That rival mafia had been the mafia that my biological parents owned. My parents were killed by the Diamond Mafia and my father’s operations were shut down, and I was found by Carmine, who had searched the house to make sure that no one remained. When I first met Carmine, I was scared that he would finish me off like he did my parents, but when he saw the condition I was in, he did not hurt me but offered me a hand, a helping hand. I was six at the time that he took me in. He found me in my closet, bruised and broken, and it was through his care that I was nursed back to a healthy little girl who had been put through so much torture by my parents and their mafia. Carmine then has ever since raised me as his own daughter. He didn’t have any other kids, so I was the only child he looked after. As I got older, he began to take me on business trips with him. Then, when I reached the age of 16, he called me into his studies one day, and told me that when he died I would take over his mafia and make it my own. At the time, Carmine was running one of the world's largest crime rings. And he never got caught. Carmine always told me how he came to be the leader of one of the most dangerous mafia gangs in the world. On the front line, Carmine owns many nightclubs in order to hide all of his operations from the police. One calm, clear, and starry night at a small secluded airport while waiting for a shipment from Mexico, Carmine felt that something bad was about to go down. Franklin was one of Carmine’s top men who secretly wanted all the glory for himself. So Fruit Punch decided to trick Carmine into believing that he (Franklin) is trustworthy enough to go with him to the airport. But little did Carmine know that Franklin had betrayed him. They were at the airport when it all happened in the blink of an eye. The shipment came in and then, all of a sudden, lights and sirens were going off, and they were being put into handcuffs and taken to the police station. Carmine Diamond got off scott-free because he had connections in the justice system. But Franklin was not so lucky and, to make matters worse, he had pissed off Carmine Diamond. Later that night, Franklin had done his time and disappeared for a couple of years and went to go join his parents' mafia and that was the last time anyone had heard from Franklin. When Carmine took me in, he had me get a DNA test done to see if I was related to anyone he knew. His greatest fear was that he was related to his former henchmen, Franklin, and his brother Quintavious Jacksona, and his worst fear was confirmed, although Franklin had died years ago in a job gone wrong, so all Quintavious had left was his sister Jacklyn (That’s Me). Or so he thought. Yes, my name is Jacklyn, and I was that little girl who Carmine had taken in, and he had raised me as his own daughter. His favorite thing to do when he was not busy with work was to spend time with me. Even when he was extremely busy, he made time in his schedule to spend time with me, whether it was just a day shopping for school clothes or spending time out at the lake house. But one day when we were out at the lake, it went all wrong. I was out on the beach with some of my friends enjoying the beautiful glowing sunset waiting for Carmine, who was going to meet me at the lake house later that night because he had some business to take care of, and he told me I could go on ahead to the cabin that morning. So here I was, sitting on the edge of my towel digging my toes in the white sand when, all of a sudden, a black pillow case went over my head, and hands were grabbing me, and I was trying to fight the hands off of me until I felt a blow to the back of my head and my body went limp. My first thought when I stir is “What happened to me,” “Where am I,” and “I hope this is all just a dream.” I wake up fully, and I look down and see that my hands are tied behind my back and my feet are tied together and there is a strip of duct tape over my mouth. I look around at my surroundings and think, “My old house?” Then a memory from ten years ago comes back to me, a memory of my dead mother’s screaming, “Jacklyn! Run and hide in the closet!” and then I could hear her pleading with Carmine “Don’t kill my daughter, instead take her and protect her from the danger of my husband and her brother.” and my dead father’s voice saying, “Leave my wife alone only I can beat her and my daughter” Then I hear the “BANG” and a “THUD” and with tears rolling down my bruised and bloody cheeks because my father had beaten me just a few seconds before my mother came home and tried to stop him from hitting me because I did nothing wrong. But my father always thought whenever something went wrong with deliveries and stuff like that, he would take it out on me, and he would always say that everything was my fault because I was too “needy” in his eyes for things that I wanted. But I knew that I could never have, because I knew at the age of three that my father would never buy me toys and stuff like that. Instead, he would buy me clothes or give me hand-me-downs from my older brothers. My mother thought that I deserved a better father figure. “SMACK” A slap on the face gets me out of the flashback and I look up at the person who slapped me…. It was my brother Quintavious. “Good Morning sleepy head, remember me?” he said as he ripped the duct tape off of my mouth. He then started walking around me asking me how I was feeling. " I'm fine, you stupid motherfucker." I said, watching his every move. That's one thing that was crucial for me to learn while I was training during my free time. Alongside my private training from Carmine, learning everything from self-defense to reading body language and how to tell when someone is lying to you. "No need to be that f*****g rude to your brother," he said to me. He continued, "I just wanted to see my baby sister and talk to you for a bit and stuff like that. Is that so wrong of me?"
