Solane gasped.“That was too harsh, Kaelen,” she muttered, tugging down her rumpled skirt. Her hands were shaking, but she kept it steady, dragging her skirt down.Kaelen looked at her for a second, then turned back to me. He stepped closer.“We have been feeding you all this while,” he said, his voice cold. “With contraceptives, poor human mate.”My whole body went cold. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. I felt my chest beating faster.I stared straight into Kaelen’s face, searching for a lie, pleading for him to say it was just a joke. He just nodded, to confirm what he just said. His eyes were empty. No hint of guilt or even regret. The words came out like he had been waiting to say this. And that was when I realized he meant every word he said.“The drugs…” My voice cracked. “The medications. The herbs.” The words felt heavy in my throat, but I just had to let it out.Three years. For three whole years, he was the reason I couldn’t have a child. Three years of his mother cursing me, calling me barren, locking me in that dark room to punish me for not giving the Alpha an heir. And it was him. All along, it was him.I thought of the tea. The tea he made me drink every night. He would sit on the bed, pull me close, and tell me it was from the best doctors. That it would help me get pregnant. Sometimes he held the cup to my lips himself, rubbed my back, whispered that it would be okay and made sure I drank it.All of it was a lie. Every touch, every word of consolation. They were all a lie.“And Solane,” he said, and let out a dry laugh.“She isn’t my cousin. She is my lover. She has been my lover before you.”“Kaelen,” Solane called out. Her voice was soft, almost like she was begging him to stop.He looked at her and raised a finger, signalling her to keep her mouth shut. Then he turned back to me, and his next words felt like salt was added to my sore heart.“You don’t expect me to allow you to have my child, Jessa. You weigh so much. You are just too fat. You aren’t fit for a wife.”I felt my knees so weak that I almost crouched to the floor. Those were the words I feared most since this past year. And he didn't think it through but just spilled it………Jessa Bryne was shocked after she found out she had been drugged all this time by her husband, Kaelen Cole, Alpha of the Bloodfang Pack. She realized he was the reason for her childlessness and also the weight she gained over the past three years. Not only did he throw it in her face, but he also told her that his supposed cousin Solane had been his lover all along. She had just been pretending to be family for three whole years while he slept with her behind Jessa’s back.Jessa was devastated and shattered. She ended up at the Harlem Riders bar, owned by the infamous Lycan King, Cornard Drakmor. She felt a bit of relief when she ran into Cornard at the bar. He offered to help her get back at Kaelen, but only on one condition.Pretend to be his wife for 60 days, and he would grant every one of her wishes to bring Kaelen down.

~Jessa~ I held the hem of my red dress tighter, my heels clicking on the marble floor as I walked briskly out of the lobby. I read the message again ‘don’t come back if it's still negative’ I put the phone away and brought the pregnancy result to my face. I wanted to read it again. To know if the negative written there would eventually be changed to positive. But it didn't, the words still showed. The black ink still showed heavily on the printed paper. Negative. I couldn't control the droplets of tears that were already rolling down my cheeks. I have tried to blink it away and still hold my gaze. But I couldn't cheat nature. My eyelids had held it for so long, and finally decided to push it out and it streamed down without hesitating. I quickly whipped them off with the back of my palm. Whispers would erupt with people if they found me this way. And the news would even have to get to Kaelen before I got home and it would require another round of tongue lashing. I didn't want that today. I was already grieving enough. I don't want to feel more terrible than this. I hastened up, increasing my pace as I walked out of the hospital building. News travels faster than light here in Harlem. How would it sound when it's broadcast — Human wife of Alpha Kaelen Cole, caught crying in the hospital lobby. Kaelen isn't going to take it lightly. If there was anything he hated most, it was his name being dragged. I parked my car in the parking lot, my feet unsteady as I stepped out of the car. My steps weren’t steady. Kaelen already warned I shouldn't return home if the result was still the same news as the ones from three years ago. I ignored the servants that were greeting me and held the papers tightly as I climbed the stairs. I headed to the room I shared with Kaelen. To break the same news to him again and wait till he spilled whatever he had to say. I breathed terribly when I got to the last stair. My hands were shaking, but I held the papers tightly. It was the only thing I had as proof. I couldn't open my mouth to spill the words ‘negative.’ and so the papers will help me do that. The hallway that led to the room was unusually cold. Like it had read my mind and knew the sort of grief that I had. I stood inches away from the room, the soft moans that erupted made my heart go still. I shook the feeling off. Not Kaelen, he can't stoop so low to that extent. I froze when a female voice confirmed my doubts. “Arr…rr..g…h, Kaelen, tell me which is best, f*****g your barren wife or me?” a female voice echoed, and I stopped dead in my tracks. The statement wasn't followed by an answer and the female voice came again. “Just f**k me already Kaelen. Your wife must be on her way back. " I swallowed hard and walked over to the entrance of the room. The door was slightly open I peered into the gap and my heart dropped at what I saw. I stared clearly at Kaelen, roughly entering Solane from behind on the study desk in the room. Her half naked body glowed under the light spilled from the lamp. Her hands held her skirt up firmly, making way for Kaelen to enter her properly. "Talk to me Kaelen, do you prefer your barren wife or I?” Solane murmured, softly grinding her hips against his. I felt a pang in her chest. How could he? f**k someone in the same room I share with him and worst still the girl he has always claimed to be his cousin. Kaelen smirked, squeezing her hips tightly as he f****d her roughly. “Just shut your mouth, Solane. Let me have you before she gets back." “Ah! Lucas" Solane gasped, her voice dripping in pleasure. “I bet f*****g her dosen’t feel this good.” Kalean ignored her and moved his hands to cup her breast, squeezing it roughly. Solane pulled her blouse up, clearly revealing her breasts well. Kaelen left one of her breast and used his tongue to lick her n*****s, then finally his mouth took in her breast fully The soft moans filled the air, each moan tearing the remaining piece of my shattered heart apart. I clenched my fists so tightly that my fingers dug into her palm. I felt a bit relieved doing that because it saved me from barging into the room. But the patience didn't last. I couldn't bear watching them have s*x in my room and do nothing. “Kaelen." I screamed and pushed the door open. Solane flinched, gasping loud in shock, she pushed Kaelen off her body slightly, but he held on to her, not wanting to let go. Kaelen's eyes darted towards the doorway and his gaze rested on me. He looked away like he hadn't seen me and turned back to Solane, taking his mouth into her breast again. Solane sat upright, fumbling with her blouse that already rolled up in her chest. She dragged it down and reached for her skirt. I watched Kaelen pull out of her then buckled his trousers. I blinked hard, preventing the tear that was already forming in my eyes from dropping. At this point, I didn't have to blame Kaelen for what he was doing. It's been three whole years since we have been waiting for the result to be positive. But it shouldn't have been Solane, she was supposed to be his cousin and not her sexcapade. “Glad thing you saw this, Jessa.” He said with a cruel smirk. "Sadly, it's still the same news right?” He laughed and adjusted his shirt. “It will always be the same news, Jess. Because you are way too dumb to figure out you have been taking contraceptives all this while.” The last sentence echoed in my head continuously and I gripped the door handle to steady myself.
