I was caught.

I killed the Alpha’s mate—by accident.

Now, I am being punished to take her place.

If I fail, he will end my life.

________________________

Serena Vale was just an ordinary human, living an ordinary life—until one fatal night changed everything. A split-second decision behind the wheel sent her car veering off the road. She survived the crash. But the wolf caught in the impact did not.

It wasn’t just any wolf. It was the Alpha’s Luna.

Hunted down and dragged before the ruthless Alpha, Kieran Duskbane, Serena is given a chilling ultimatum: become the new Luna and fulfill her duties for a year… or die.

Kieran is a man carved from war and vengeance, a leader who knows nothing but bloodshed, dominance, and conquest. He has no use for a weak, human stand-in.

And yet, fate has bound them together.

Survive. Submit. Or perish.

The clock is ticking. 1 year. And Serena must become something she never imagined—before time runs out.

I Killed Something
Work had been brutal. Every muscle in my body ached, pulsing with exhaustion as fatigue wrapped around me like a heavy fog. The dim glow of the streetlights stretched over the road ahead, flickering in and out of focus. I caught a glimpse of myself in the rearview mirror—pale skin, dark circles under my eyes, a picture of pure exhaustion. The world around me was eerily silent. No honking cars, no distant city hum—just the soft whisper of my tires against the asphalt and the rhythmic chirping of crickets hidden in the tall grass beside the road. Moths battered themselves against the glow of the lamps, their tiny bodies tapping against the glass before disappearing into the night. I had always been observant. Maybe too observant. I blinked, forcing myself to focus on the road. I wasn’t drunk. Just tired. But not tired enough to lose control. After all, who could possibly fall asleep after getting chewed out by their boss on their first week at a new job? The humiliation still burned in my chest. Tomorrow, my coworkers would whisper behind my back, exchanging smug glances because I had made one simple mistake. A missing page. That’s all it took for my supervisor to rip into me like I had burned down the entire office. Never mind the fact that someone else had borrowed the document without telling me. Maybe I was cursed. Maybe today was just another reminder that I’d never catch a break. I glanced at the dashboard clock. 12:00 AM A long way from home. A long way from sleep. I sighed, adjusting my grip on the steering wheel. The moon loomed overhead, large and luminous, watching over me like a silent guardian. At least the moon wasn’t there to judge me. I took another deep breath, trying to push away the bitter thoughts. Just breathe. Just drive. Everything else could wait. And then— Blinding lights. A deafening screech of tires. My pupils dilated, my breath caught in my throat. A truck. Where the hell did a truck come from? It was barreling toward me, headlights burning through the darkness, moving too fast—way too fast. My body reacted before my mind did. I yanked the wheel to the side. The car swerved. Trees. A crash. Pain exploded through my torso as my body slammed against the seatbelt. Glass shattered, slicing into my skin. Smoke filled the air. My ears rang with the aftermath of impact. I gasped, struggling to move. My legs were trapped. My arms felt heavy. Everything hurt. I tried to lift my head, but the world around me blurred, tilting at odd angles. Through the smoke, I could see the crumpled remains of my car, flames licking at the edges. Then—movement. Something caught my eye. There, beneath the trees, illuminated by the soft glow of the moon, lay a wolf. A breathtakingly beautiful creature with a coat as white as snow, shimmering like silver under the night sky. Its fur was pristine, as if it had never once touched the dirt of the earth. And it wasn’t moving. Realization struck me like a dagger to the chest. I had hit it. My stomach twisted. No, no, no—this wasn’t supposed to happen. It wasn’t fair. It didn’t deserve this. With the little strength I had left, I reached out, my fingers trembling as they brushed against its soft fur. "Hey..." my voice was barely a whisper. "Wake up." Nothing. Guilt clawed at my throat. My vision blurred—not just from the pain, but from the weight of what I had done. Why had this wolf been here? Why did that truck come out of nowhere? The road had been empty. Silent. And then—just like that—everything changed. A low rumble reached my ears. My car. The engine sputtered violently, sparks flying. My pulse spiked as I realized what was coming. It was going to explode. Adrenaline surged through me, drowning out the pain. I forced my broken body to move, pulling myself away from the wreckage with whatever strength I had left. I dragged myself across the ground, the scent of burning metal thick in the air. I barely made it to the grass before the world behind me erupted in flames. A blast of heat seared my back, but I was already slipping—falling—into darkness. I woke to the murmur of voices. Soft, indistinct chatter floated around me, but I couldn’t make out the words. My eyelids felt heavy, my limbs weighed down as if I had been trapped in a deep ocean. Then—a voice. “Hello there, miss.” My vision adjusted, blinding white light filling my gaze before settling on a woman dressed in pristine white. A nurse. She smiled gently, tucking a clipboard against her hip. "I’m glad to see you awake." I opened my mouth to speak—but nothing came out. My throat was dry, raw. “Don’t push yourself,” she said, stepping closer. “You’re still recovering. We wouldn’t want your stitches to reopen, now would we?” I swallowed and gave a small shake of my head. “Good,” she said, adjusting my pillow with a practiced hand. “You were lucky. A few people found you on the roadside and got you here just in time. Your car, though… it was completely totaled.” I closed my eyes briefly. I already knew that. I had seen the flames. Smelled the smoke. Felt the pain. “You had a collision with a six-wheeler truck,” the nurse continued, her voice laced with disbelief. “It’s a miracle you survived.” A miracle. Was that what this was? “The police suspect you swerved at the last second to avoid a direct impact. If you hadn’t…” She trailed off, shaking her head. “Well, let’s just say you wouldn’t be here right now.” I exhaled shakily, the weight of her words sinking in. I should have died. But I didn’t. Something else did. I blinked as the memory of the white wolf surfaced in my mind. The way it had laid there, still and unmoving, its beauty frozen in time. It had taken my place. I was pulled from my thoughts as the nurse handed me a clipboard. “If you feel up to it, we’ll need your name and contact information to notify your family.” I nodded, taking the pen with an unsteady hand and scrawling my father’s number across the page. She smiled and tucked the paper away. “Get some rest. You’ll need it.” With that, she turned and walked toward the door. The soft click of it closing behind her left an eerie silence in its wake. I let out a slow breath and shut my eyes. And then— A sound. A shuffling near the window. My eyes snapped open. Something—someone—was outside. I turned my head slowly, my pulse pounding against my ribs. The curtains fluttered slightly, revealing a pair of gleaming amber eyes staring at me from the darkness beyond the glass. And then—just as quickly as they appeared—the figure vanished. I sucked in a sharp breath, heart hammering in my chest. I was on the fifth floor.
