Chapter Eleven: It has been a week. A week since we've been together. A week since we have had no drama or any encounters with the media. A week that was such a blessing. Brendan and I are great. He is such a gentleman! He would always open the car door for me, open the entrance and exit doors, and would also pull out my chair for me. He was such a sweetheart! I am very lucky to have him. Today was a brand new day. I looked at myself on the mirror and smiled. My blonde hair was neatly tied up in a ponytail. My grey blazer and pencil skirt in tact. My white blouse neatly tucked under my skirt. Today was my first day as a co-executive at the Johnson's Marketing Industry. I am very grateful for this position. I am very grateful to have Brendan. I grabbed my briefcase and made my way out and to the cab, on my way to the building. It was a bright day in New York. Like usual, people filled the streets, traffic seen everywhere. The cars moving slowly with anxious drivers waiting to attend their work. I smiled. This is what I have been dreaming of as a kid - a lively place to live in. I have finally arrived the building and I strutted in with my briefcase in hand confidently. The receptionist, who I have forgotten the name of, looked at me weirdly, a confused facial expression placed on her face. I pressed Brendan's floor. I patiently waited for the elevator to go up. The elevator 'dinged' and I walked out. On my way to his office, I saw him talking on the phone. Also, I saw Josh with a confused look in his eyes. Also, reluctance. He's probably contemplating on whether or not he should approach me. I shrugged it off. Like usual, the people in the office didn't notice me since they were working hard as Brendan was in his office. Brendan isn't stupid. He knows exactly what's going on in his business and people who are try-hards and want a promotion at the same time is one of them. I knocked a few times on his door and walked in without permission. He was busy reading over some notes. "Did I tell you to - " He looked up, "Hey." I smiled. "I'm sorry, Mr. Johnson. It won't happen again." He shook his head but smiled. "Welcome back, Miss Roberts." I grinned. "Thank you, Mr. Johnson." He cleared his throat. "I need your help." "Anything." "Since you're no longer my secretary..." Where was this leading to? "I was hoping that you could help me choose one." I burst out laughing. "Okay, seriously, Brendan, what do you need help with?" He just stared at me. Oh crap, was he serious? "You're not joking," I stated rather than asking. "Since you're my girlfriend," My stomach flipped, "I want to make sure that you won't feel jealous." I shook my head. "I won't be jealous. I know you're a professional." He smiled. "Are you sure?" I thought about it. Hang on, what happens if whatever happened between us happens? Wait, did that even make sense? I shook my head. "Actually, screw that, I'm making sure that this person isn't pretty even though she has a really good résumé," I announced. He grinned. "I'm glad that's sorted. Be here at 11 o'clock." I nodded and noted it down on my reminder. "Also, your office next door is organized. I had someone to organize it for you." I smiled warmly. Thank God that I didn't have to do any cleaning! "Thank you, Mr. Johnson." His facial expressions tensed up. "The pleasure is mine. I'll see you later, Miss Roberts." "I'll see you later, Mr. Johnson." His face tensed up again. I stood up with a slight smirk, and as I was halfway through the door, he said something. "What, no goodbye kiss?" He sounded smug. I turned around with a surprised horror look on my face. He was just smirking. "We're in the office!" I shrieked. "That's highly unprofessional." He groaned. "Please? I swear if people start talking about it - " "Brendan, please." He sighed. "Not even on the cheek?" I shook my head. "Not even on the cheek," I repeated. He sighed defeatedly. "Fine." I grinned. "That's a good boy." I walked out of his office and was met by Josh. "I see you're working here again, huh?" Josh says. I nodded. "Yeah, I am." Awkward silence. I felt someone stare from behind me. I knew it was Brendan. I took a risk and turned around, seeing him glare at Josh who I think is just looking down at me. "Look, Kristine, I'm really sorry - " I held up a hand in front of his face. "Save your sorry, Josh." "But - " "Look, I'm not mad at you. I'm upset - there's a difference. I trusted you, Josh. I really did. I just need some time to think things through and then maybe, just maybe, we can work things out again and become friends," I said while closing my eyes. "But what about my brother?" He asked. My eyes opened instantly and looked at him. "What about him?" "Do you forgive him?" He asked. I nodded. "Yes." He frowned. "Don't you think that's unfair?" I shook my head. "You don't understand - " "Hang on, are you sleeping with him?" He accused. "Josh, listen - " "Is that why you don't want to be with me after what he's done to you?" "Joshua listen to me!" I practically yelled, attracting people. "What are you all staring at? Get back to work!" Josh barked. People scurried back to their computers and pretended to be not listening. "Josh, listen. Your brother and I - there's something there. I like him. A lot. I haven't slept with him nor do I plan to anytime soon but other than that, l like him," I confessed. He shook his head. "Have you heard about his reputation towards women?" That's true. Brendan IS a womanizer. However, I do feel like he's the one. I somehow can see him in my future with our little Kristine and Brendan. Wait, what? "You don't deserve him, Kristine. He doesn't deserve you," Josh said softly. This angered me. Who does he think he is telling people who deserves who? "Oh, and you do?" This silenced him. "Josh, I'm sorry, I have work to do." I walked away and entered my new office that is right next to Brendan's. It was also glass. However, the blinds were pulled down. The room looked spotless. The paper works were already stashed in the filing cabinet and relevant books were also placed evenly on the bookshelf. I smiled. This is my dream. My dream is finally coming to reality. Everything is in place. This is right. Then I called my mom. And boy, did she have mixed emotions about my new job and me not going back home. ~ After 2 hours later, it was finally 11 o'clock. I gratefully locked my computer and went over next door to Brendan's office. The blinds were pulled down and people were nervously waiting to be called in. I smiled inwardly. I remember when I was nervous about my interview. I knocked on his door and went inside. An old woman was sitting opposite him. I smiled and walked beside Brendan. "Who is this young lady?" The old woman smiled. "This is Kristine. Kristine, this is Elizabeth. She is my grandma's sister." I walked over to her and shook her hand. "It's very nice meeting you." She beamed. "Such a lovely girl. It was a pleasure to finally meet the one who stole my little Brendan's heart," She winked at him. I blushed. Brendan groaned, embarrassed by his great aunt's actions. "Oh don't be like that, Brendy," Elizabeth playfully warned. I tried not to sniffle a laugh so instead, I pretended to cough. Brendan gave me the evils which made me cough harder. "Oh deary, I hope you get well soon with all of these coughs," Elizabeth said. Aww, that was so sweet of her! I smiled at her. "Thank you, Elizabeth." She grinned. "It's okay." She turned to Brendan. "You look after her, okay?" He nodded and she patted Brendan's cheek. She turned back to me. "I'll see you soon, dear." She gave me a kiss on the cheek and she went off to the door. He huffed. "I'm the one who's related to her and you get the kiss?" I smirked. "Is that jealousy I hear, Brendy?" He glared. "Don't ever call me that." "Or else what...Brendy?" He stood up and walked over to me. He held my hands and stood me up. He placed his hands on my waist and started to move his fingers. I squirmed a bit. "Or that will happen," He smirked. I gasped. "You wouldn't!" He grinned devilishly. "Oh you know I would." I bit my bottom lip before I could have a witty comeback. He groaned and kissed my lips. He caught me off guard and he but my bottom lip, making me moan. We pulled away to what seemed like minutes because we were left panting and catching for a breath. "I will be the one to always bite your bottom lip," He whispered and kissed my forehead. I just stood there in shock. He went back to his chair and sat down. "Kennedy, please send someone in," He said over the phone. Who is Kennedy? I looked at him. "Who's Kennedy?" "Kennedy is an assistant who works for Martha from sales. She's currently in a 2 day leave so I called in Kennedy for the job if he wanted it," He explained. I just simply nodded. I bought one of the chairs from opposite Brendan next to him and I sat on it. He looked over at me and smiled. He leaned down and kissed me on the forehead, leaving my stomach do crazy flips. A few seconds later, a blonde female with a fake tan comes in the room. I swear her breasts would pop out of her bright yellow shirt if she takes a huge breath. "What the hell," I muttered, only for Brendan to hear. From the corner of my eye, I saw him smile. That bastard. I nudged him, only making him smile even more. Bastard. "Hello, Mr. Johnson," She says in a high pitched voice. Typical. "Please, sit down," Brendan said. She took a seat and arranged it to be closer to the desk. She gave her papers to Brendan. I looked at her name. Courtney. She placed her elbows on the table, her boobs in between, trying to seduce him. I needed a plastic bag before I would puke! "So, Courtney, I'm Brendan Johnson and over here is Miss Roberts," Thank you for not saying my entire name! "We will be interviewing you today." She nodded. "I'm Courtney Malaki." He nodded. "So you'd had experience before?" She nodded. "Yeah, I had. It was in Las Vegas." I rolled my eyes. Typical. Brendan cleared his throat. "What happened?" "I got fired," She said in a bored tone. Brendan got interested. "What happened?" He asked again. "Well, I did something pleasurable to the boss and let's just say the girl found out," She winked. Typical little slut. Brendan leaned back against his chair. "Pleasurable, huh?" She nodded. "Yes, I can even pleasure you," She said seductively. This sentence made me growl. I was about to gag. I leaned forward. "Listen here you - " " - I see you're a cheerleader," Brendan cut me off. She nodded eagerly. "Yeah, I'm quite flexible actually. That's why whenever I give the pleasure, it'll be more pleasurable since it'll be so deep inside of me." I looked at Brendan pleadingly. I have had enough of this little slut's fail attempt at flirting with my boyfriend. I knew Brendan wasn't turned on or anything because his eyes showed amusement. Nothing else. Brendan swiftly nodded. I looked over at the little messed up barbie doll. I think she took Brendan's swift nod as a sign of she was in the company. "Thank you so much, Brendan!" She got up and gave him a huge hug. "Get your dirty hands off of Brendan!" I barked. She was startled. "And why should I? Who are you?" "I'm Kristine Roberts, the co-executive of J.M.I. I'm also the girlfriend of Brendan here. I would shake your hand but I wouldn't want to get any germs from you. I wouldn't know where that hand came from," I said cockily. She looked dumbfounded. If I only had a camera. Her face really looks messed up. She probably had cosmetic surgery before. I seriously wouldn't be surprised. "Brendan, help me!" She whined. "That's Mr. Johnson to you. And why would I go against my own girlfriend?" Brendan said protectively, wrapping his arms around my waist and giving me a soft kiss on the cheek. She glared at me and did a ridiculous pout when she turned her attention back to Brendan. "But I can give you something that she can't give you." He raised his eyebrow. "And what is that?" "Fun." I burst out laughing. "Oh, Courtney. I think you should become a clown since you're just so damn funny. We'll call you if you get in but don't get your hopes up. That's highly unlikely." She put her head up high. "Whatever, you gold digger." I snorted. "And you're not? Please make your way out before I call security." She stood up proud and tall. "Whatever." She looked back at Brendan, "If this try-hard is no fun, you know who to call," She winked and gave him a flying kiss. "That won't be necessary. Goodbye," I said. She rolled her eyes and exited the room. I growled. "Thank god that was over." I slumped on the chair next to Brendan and I just looked at him. His eyes were something I couldn't read. "What?" He kissed my lips softly and rested his forehead against mine. "You are amazing. I can't believe you are mine." I smiled. "I know, I'm fabulous," I joked. He chuckled. "That you are." He grabbed the phone again and asked for another person. Here we go again.
