Elira POV
The gates of Blackthorn Pack opened and every bit of strength inside me disappeared.
The massive iron gates towered over us like the mouth of a beast waiting to swallow me whole again.
Kael carried me out of the car without a word. My body felt weak.
The healer had forced herbs down my throat before we left Nightfall territory, but the pain in my stomach still came in sharp waves.
Now I am back here, to the place that broke me.
Pack warriors lined the entrance path as Kael walked forward with me in his arms.
Then whispers started. “She came back?”
“I heard she ran away.”
“She’s pregnant…”
“The rejected omega?”
I shut my eyes tightly.
Kael’s arms tightened around me as a warning.
The whispers grew louder anyway.
“She escaped and still got dragged back.”
“So pathetic.”
“Alpha Kael finally claimed her?”
“No… look at her. She looks terrified.”
I bit my lip hard enough to taste blood.
Humiliation burned through me so badly I wanted to disappear.
Kael kept walking like none of this affected him.
Nobody dared say anything once he looked at them.
Fear followed him like a shadow.
The pack house doors opened.
Lucien stepped aside first.
“Prepare the west wing,” he ordered the servants.
A servant immediately bowed.
“Yes, Beta.”
Kael walked upstairs. I Hated being carried in front of everyone like some weak thing that couldn’t even stand on her own.
Maybe because it was true. He entered a large room at the end of the hallway.
Nothing here belonged to me.
Kael placed me on the bed.
The softness under me almost made me dizzy after the emotional exhaustion.
I immediately moved away from him.
That tiny flicker in his expression like every time I recoiled from him, something inside him cracked slightly deeper.
“You need rest,” he said.
I laughed weakly. “Now you care?”
I looked away from him immediately because if I looked directly at him right now, I might cry again.
“You don’t get to act concerned now.”
“You’re carrying my child,” he said.
Anger exploded inside me, “That child existed when you rejected me too!”
“You think I don’t regret it?”
That shocked me.
Regret? Kael Draven? That was impossible.
I refused to fall for that.
A knock sounded at the door.
Lucien entered.
“The council has already heard.”
Kael’s face darkened,News spread through Blackthorn faster than wildfire.
Lucien glanced toward me.
“They’re demanding answers.”
Kael’s voice turned cold. “They’ll get nothing.”
Lucien hesitated, “That may become difficult.”
Kael turned toward him. “Pregnancy changes things politically.”
Lucien lowered his voice, “There are rumors spreading already.”
“What rumors?” Kael asked coldly.
“That the rejected omega seduced the Alpha after being cast aside.” Lucien said.
Humiliation crashed into me all over again.
Kael’s expression became lethal.
“Who started it?”
“Nobody knows yet.”
Kael looked toward the door, “Find out.”
Lucien nodded once and left.
Kael stood near the window now, staring outside.
Moonlight cut across his face
“You should’ve let me stay in Nightfall.” I said.
His back stiffened “No.”
“I was safer there.” I said.
“You can’t force me forever.”
That made him finally turn around.
“You think this is about force?”
I stared at him. “What else would it be?”
Something dangerous moved behind his eyes. “You still don't get it,Elira" he said
“You are my mate.” Kael said.
“That didn’t matter before.” I said.
I forced myself to keep speaking even when my voice trembled.
“You rejected me in front of the entire pack.”
“You made everyone think I was worthless.”
“You are!" Kael yelled.
“Your value was never your decision and you don’t leave Blackthorn without permission.” Kael said with authority.
The pain in my chest became unbearable.
A servant suddenly entered nervously.
“Alpha… the pack members outside…”
Kael’s expression changed, “What about them?”
“They’ve gathered in the courtyard.”
The servant swallowed hard. “They want to see her.”
“Dismiss them.” He said.
The servant hesitated fearfully.
“They’re demanding to know if the rumors are true.”
Kael moved toward the door immediately. “I said dismiss them.”
The servant rushed out quickly.
I could already hear voices outside faintly now.
The rejected omega returned pregnant.
“Stay here.” Kael said.
Fear immediately crawled through me again because I knew exactly what waited outside those doors.
As Kael stepped out into the hallway,I heard the crowd outside suddenly go silent.
