Well,I didn't sleep that night either.
Magnus was coming. Tomorrow morning. Whatever fragile stability I'd built at Northern Crescent felt like it was already dissolving before I even had the chance to properly stand on it, and I spent most of the dark hours sitting at my window watching the mountain range and trying to think of anything except the possibility of being dragged out of this room by council enforcers.
By the time morning came, I hadn't decided on anything except that I needed to not be alone with my thoughts.
I found Petra in the dining hall before most students had arrived, sitting with two others, the boy Finn from elementary studies and the dark-haired healing track girl who had asked me about bloodline stories two days earlier.
