Elira POV
The moment the warrior spoke, the entire room changed.
Adrian’s golden eyes turned sharp.
“Who crossed the border?” he asked coldly.
“Blackthorn warriors, Your Highness.”
My heart nearly stopped, fear rushed through my body so fast my hands started trembling again.
His jaw tightened before he looked back at the warrior.
“How many?” Adrian asked.
“Ten vehicles at the eastern gate.”
“Keep them outside the main territory until I arrive.” Adrian said.
“Yes, Your Highness.”
The warrior hurried out immediately.
I couldn’t breathe properly anymore.
“He found me,” I whispered.
Adrian turned toward me.
Kael never stopped once he decided something belonged to him.
My stomach twisted painfully,I grabbed it instinctively.
“You need to calm down.” Adrian said.
“I can’t.” I replied.
“Elira…”
“You don’t understand.” My voice cracked. “If he sees me here…”
“He will what?” Adrian thundered
I froze.
Adrian stepped closer. “You don’t have to go with him.”
A bitter laugh escaped me before I could stop it.
“You say that because you’ve never been rejected by your mate.”
The words slipped out painfully.
Adrian moved toward the door.
“Stay inside this room.” he said
Fear spiked harder.
“You’re leaving?”
“I’m meeting the Blackthorn Alpha.” he said
“You’re scared of him?”
I looked down immediately, that alone was enough to answer.
Adrian’s voice lowered. “He can’t harm you here.”
“You don’t know that.” I said
“I know exactly what kind of man Kael Draven is.” Adrian said.
That startled me.
“You know him? By reputation?”
Everyone knew Kael by reputation. Cruel, ruthless and unforgiving man.
A man who ruled through fear.
“Lock the door after I leave.” Adrian said. Then he walked out.
_______________________
Kael stood outside Nightfall territory like a storm waiting to happen. He has black coat, black gloves with his cold blue eyes.
Even the Nightfall guards looked tense around him.
Lucien stood beside him while the large gates remained closed in front of them.
Kael’s patience was already gone.
“She’s here,” he said flatly.
Lucien crossed his arms calmly.
“You don’t know that.” he said
Kael slowly looked toward him.
“She crossed the northern river unconscious. Nightfall patrols guard those woods constantly.” Kael said
Lucien didn’t answer because Kael was probably right.
The gates finally opened.
Adrian Nightfall stepped through surrounded by warriors.
The two powerful men stared at each other, either bowed and neither looked away.
“I believe you have what belongs to me,” Kael said coldly.
Adrian almost smiled. “That’s an interesting greeting.”
“I’m not here for conversation.” Kael said.
“No,” Adrian agreed. “You’re here for territory intimidation, like you always do.”
Kael took one slow step forward.
“My mate entered these lands,I want her returned.”
Adrian’s expression didn’t change.
The Nightfall warriors exchanged glances in shock.
Adrian folded his arms. “The same mate you publicly rejected?”
Lucien’s eyes flickered briefly toward Kael.
Kael’s jaw tightened.
“That is none of your concern.” Kael said.
“And yet your rejected mate somehow fled your territory terrified enough to jump into a freezing river.” Adrian said.
The air became deadly, several warriors lowered their heads instantly as Kael’s rising Alpha pressure. But Adrian didn’t move, neither did he flinch.
Kael’s voice dropped dangerously low.
“Watch your words carefully.”
Adrian stepped closer too.
“And you should ask yourself why your own mate fears you more than death.”
Kael looked furious enough to kill, and Lucien immediately stepped forward
“Alright,that's enough,” Lucien said.
The tension snapped,Kael’s gaze never left Adrian.
“She belongs to Blackthorn.” Lucien said.
Adrian’s expression hardened, “No woman belongs to anyone.”
Kael laughed, “You’re getting emotionally involved over a weak omega?”
Before Adrian could answer,Kael suddenly froze.
His sharp eyes shifted toward the territory behind the gates, toward the mansion.
The scent was weak, faint but it was unmistakable. It was the scent of his Mate,Elira.
Every muscle in Kael’s body went still.
Kael’s blue eyes darkened completely.
“She’s here,” he said.
Elira POV
My heart slammed violently inside my chest,I backed away from the bedroom door in panic.
How did he scent me from this far?
I looked around desperately, and the room suddenly felt too small.
Heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway outside.
My blood turned cold,I knew those footsteps.
“Moon Goddess..” I sobbed
The bedroom door handle slowly turned.
