The small shuffling sound from the richly waved black and golden robe as the king's hand slipped into it, was the only sound that any ear would grasp, the chamber smell like fragrance, natural fragrance from the king's bath, the adorned his hair and every inch of his skin.
"My Lord, your belt." The elven maiden held out the belt made of the same fabric for her betrothed.
"Is it your best Shiloh?" His voice was soft, she looked up at his gaze meeting the hatred in his flaming right eye, she quickly looked down sucking a deep breath and tensing.
"Get me my jewelry, don't just stand there!" He snapped. She hurried out of his sight, almost tripping on her rob.
He rolled his eyes while fastening his belt with modesty and style. Meanwhile, after she retrieved the tray of jewelry she had prepared for him on that day she was hurrying back to him in order to prevent another round of cold words and humiliations. Unfortunately, she never made it. She tripped on her robe and stumbled but couldn't catch herself so she landed on the ground and the jewels poured out of the tray and hit the ground. The king immediately rose to his feet.
If his eye was flame before now it was the window to hell. She gasped and hurried to pick them back in the tray in disarray.
She grabbed a ring that got damaged in the process, an emerald ring with the best sculpting design in all Solasovia.
She looked at the ring then at her King, she quickly bowed chest heaving and words lost in her throat. Before she got to express the words he snatched her hand holding firmly forcing her on her knees, it felt like he was trying to crush her bone with his hold.
"I-I'm sorry!" She quaked tears filling her eyes, his right eyes burning even more while his left eye turned to a darker emerald shed.
"You bungersome maladroit! One task! And you're making a hell out of it!" His grip tightened and she began sensing the heat of his hold.
"I'll never get married to a good for nothing as you are! Rather die! You disgust me!" He poured out through gritted teeth. She whimpered under the hard look and his burning hold.
"I'm sorry! Forgive me, My lord." She blurted with tears. He let go of her wrist roughly.
"Shut up worthless elf! You're such a disgrace!"
She grabbed her hand shakily, it was badly burnt and he could care less. "I don't want to see this face of yours, Again! Put on a veil or something! You're good for looks!"
She sobbed at his words like darts. They hurt. This was beside the worst state she had ever thrown him into. At least he had admitted his feelings.
He turned around leaving her to crawl her way out. He looked at himself through the mirror, clenching his jaw.
He reaped his belt and took off the robe before he called in his servant to take charge and find him something fitting. In no time he was in his sombre attire with the jewelry he could manage after her clumsy fall; most of the crystal rings broke and his generational ring was damaged.
He waited for his hair to be brushed and braided as it should be. It looked glamorous but not as he had always wanted it. The braids were not tight enough like Shiloh usually does. But her case was ready to be sealed.
He stepped out with his servant next to him like his faithful dog trailing behind him as he walked the hall to the dining hall, to his surprise the six wise men were already seated in the chairs set up for them and they seemed to have been enjoying their meal till he stepped in.
"Greetings wise beings." His voice revealed no emotion as the words spread into the air.
Their different color-ranging eyes rested on him and traced him to his throne. Where he sat with his arm resting on the Golden throne arm and his finger slowly tapping with his ringed fingers. Knock, knock, knock.
The elders watched him, at the far end they heard a relaxing harp note and the sounds of tiny bells jingling announcing a spectacle.
The King rested his elbow on the other arm of the thorn before allowing his head to fall into his palm. Useless dancer, if she fails this time I won't hesitate to claim her soul. Of what use it is when someone like her owns it.
The presentation of the elven maiden was getting in the middle of its c****x, the harp, and organic piano were doing wonders with the tiny sounds and resurface of a huge pause.
Shiloh danced to the rhythm, as usual, creating a large circle around her each time she turned, arranged in locks and combed to be fitted; her hair resisted the brutal movement.
Now she was only left in a veil and a ballerina gown, where the burn laid on her wrist was visible, though it was wrapped with plaster it was so visible. The elders asked between themselves the course of such carelessness.
"Stop!" The king rose feeling bored beyond bearable. "Dismiss you all." He demanded.
The music ceased and the instrumentation disappeared, leaving Shiloh to herself collecting from a successful dance number.
"Get out." He called out coldly, less aggressive but menacing. She stepped back and bowed her head before leaving his sight.
He slumped back in his throne, fixing the six men, who were giants to be exact, their heads almost hitting the roof of the palace which was incredibly high.
"King Oxias." So went first, "pardon our heights." He added while hitting his rod once in the ground before regaining an adult height. His brothers copied his movement and they were soon viewable by the king.
The King watched them with great irritation, long white hair looking like it's been ages since they cut, and so were their beards, nevertheless, by the look of it they were the fluffiest, softest, and neatest he had ever seen a wizard keep, he felt disgusted just imagining those old men spending hours on the mirror to look so clean, all of them had beards except Vo. If not properly checked he might be mistaken for a woman, he was not huge, fat, and jolly, he was lean like an elf, his skin was pale, his lips were thin, his brows were less dense and his ocean blue eyes though we're dull, the told the story of a patient man.
"What brought you all here?" The king asked, still in his position looking bored. He knocked his finger on the throne counting every second he had to spend with those fools.
"Didn't you read our letter?" Xo boomed trying to contain his anger.
"Yes, I did but it makes no sense. Why would you judge me, for being a king?" He demanded with a smirk. The elders exchanged looks with each other.
There the game had started. The King arose with a smirk dangerously playing on his lips. This was his game, he couldn't beat the wise men with his powers, they were way too strong but where strength failed wisdom prevailed.
"My father before me had ruled this pack, and he made the rules, and the rules were made fitting for the people. Before my father died he had given me the order to rule as I wished, and I did not only protect the werewolves, I provided shelter for the rogues and gave them a chance to repent, I equally brought in the vampires and the witches to be one, so the killing ceased. I slay all monsters that threaten the kingdom I've built, my people walk on silver, gold, and precious stones every day on their street, they do not lack food, they do not lack shelter, the people in my kingdom are giants outside! Then what is it that I've done to deserve such disgraceful letters from you?" He roared.
The elders all slammed their rods on the ground and a court surged from the ground and sat in their giant forms as judges.
"The King claims right!" So announced.
Ho massaged his temple. "Right, for injustice."
Bo slammed the hammer. "Silence!" He ordered.
Ko cleared his throat, "King Oxias Elias Sideris, at only ten you became Alpha of your pack, pretty young is it? Due to lack of heirs as the law of the pack had decided that the brother of the alpha be killed the very day he became alpha, and King Floyd had respected it, so had his late brother."
"Your reign was powerful and full of grace, a lot of enemies were slain, you assemble the creatures in the realm which was high suicide, you bind them to be one and forced them into acceptance, which was wise for the safety of the realm, then your hunger for souls only grew darker, you consumed the soul of the repentant prisoner and even fed on the soul of their servants, you have little patience and heavy wrath. You're nothing but melancholic and rage-filled." Vo recited.
"You consume every possible soul and cause great pain to your people! We warned you child! Not once not twice! We warned you but you decided to keep your evil-doing, growing and gaining space. You confirmed that you had enlarged your territory and brought shelter to other spaces. But at what price, you killed their leaders and relations, you forced them into civilization, you caused your people to sorrow every day and fed on it. The Orchardians, having heard of such a cruel king, are coming for you that they might consume you and grow with your wrath." Xo half yelled.
The King frowned. "You disrespected me, elders, by referring to me as a child. I'm the unique king of this kingdom I've built! My ambitions are the same as before, I'll slay those senseless silhouettes called Orchardians. My parents before me couldn't do better!" The young king argued.
"You're still a child though you possess the wisdom of the realm, you still remain a child and you need to grow the hard way," Xo argued.
"Silence!" Bo slammed the hammer. "King Oxias Elias Sideris, do you deny having maltreated your betrothed and servants and having tortured your subjects to death?"
He looked up with shock flashing on his face for a split second. "It is my right as a king to do as I please." He defended.
The elders exchanged serious but bored looks. "The law of this realm stipulates that when a king receives orders from higher rulers he is to respect it and obey for the greater good for the realm." Vo intervened.
"You disobeyed the law, your highness. You broke a law, you claimed superiority and that is rebellion, we can't afford to have a rebellious ruler rule this realm in such wickedness." Bo added.
The king balled his fist and clenched his jaw. If wisdom fails, strength can still do.
"Aperanus castu!" Vo hit his rod on the ground and silvery chains surged from the king's feet wrapping him and bringing him down to kneel before them.
"UNTIE ME!" He roared, his eyes blazing with flames.
