The three drove together to Megan and Morgan’s house. Morgan was mostly silent, letting Nate tell Megan of their trip and answering her questions.
When they arrived at Morgan’s parents’ home, Hugh and Donna O’Connor came out of the house and greeted them all with hugs. Morgan studied his parents’ faces. He’d always imagined he resembled his dad, had his mother’s coloring. Now seeing them through the lens of the new knowledge of his ancestry, he realized it wasn’t so. He looked at Megan. He saw now how she looked very much like Miriam from the woodcarver’s, not like her grandmother as everyone had always told her. His mom announced dinner was ready.
