It was night by the time I had gotten to Thorn's castle, no guards were around, not even scouts, a few pack members were saying something about how lovely the wedding was and that it was a shame that the couple fainted and no one knew why. I didn't want to make my presence known and quietly made my way to Thorn's castle. Assuming the lay out was the same, I made my way to what was Thorn's office and sat in his chair. The talk outside made it clear the happy couple hasn't left for a honeymoon yet so I would have the chance to talk to Thorn before they were leaving, if they even were.
The sun was rising and I could hear the birds singing, I knew I was facing the window, so I couldn't see the door, but I heard it open. I waited a moment to see if anything would happen without making myself known. It was Thorn's beta, I could tell by the sent, he was happily whistling and carrying out some paperwork, I could hear the papers shuffling on the desk and slowly turned the chair around to face him. He mush have not been paying attention because I could still hear his whistling and scratching like writing. After he was done writing and apparently looked up, he screamed, very loud, and surprisingly like a very high pitched scream, I smiled. My hood covered my eyes, so I could just imagine him looking up and seeing someone with a creepy smile right now. Naturally the scream caused some attention and soon Thorn had come running in asking what was wrong.
Thorn knew exactly what happened and ordered his Beta out, shutting the door and locking it.
"I wondered when you'd be showing up again." Thorn said
I leaned forward on the table and folded my hands, "ahh, yes, did you think I would have just slipped away into the night never to be seen again?"
I heard him turn to face me, his voice raised but not to a yell just yet, "you killed someone, an ALPHA no less, what were we supp..." he trailed off.
I lifted my head and let my hood fall showing him my eyes, I leaned back and smirked. "Oh I think you and your little alpha band got some decent hits in on someone who killed the head of a werewolf s*x-trafficker, one I might add your wife was forced into."
I could feel he had been taken aback by my eyes, he whispered "what happened? Why didn't you heal yourself?" I could feel him coming closer to see, but i knew he wouldn't lay a hand on me, not yet anyways.
"You should know what happened, you were there, though you didn't pour the wolfs-bane in my eyes directly, I'm sure you understand the consequences of the deadliest plant to use, yes?"
Thorn fell back a bit into the chair across from me. "Now, I can't just make new eyes for myself, can I? No I'd need fresh eyes to do anything like that and a decent second to help." I could feel Thorn getting uneasy.
"Anyway, I'm here for a more personal reason, I'm sure you received my wedding present?"
I could feel the air getting tense as Thorn said "yeah what was that all ab..."
"So, that mark is a curse, a curse for you specifically." He shifted in his chair while I remained calm with a smirk, "it makes you un-attracted to your mate, per my choosing."
Thorn JUMPED out of his chair with an air of fear, yelling "GET THE f**k OUT." I'm sure he was pointing to the door. I stayed still, "let my words sink in, runt." Naturally moments later, there was knocking on the still locked door, asking if everything was okay. "Well, aren't you going to answer?"
Thorn unlocked and opened the door.
"SHAMAN!" Lilly was exited to see me at least. I stood and made sure my face was covered, putting my hand up. "No hugs please, I'm just tired." Grace had come to the door by now, exited to hear that I was here and hopefully making amends with Thorn, she barely made out an exited squeal, and I could tell she's been trying to speak more but she would never have the ability to like she did before again.
"I was just going to let the Shaman stay in her old room, I have business to attend today and the Shaman and I need to get some...things.. worked out." thorn tried to keep details quiet, but the hesitation was noticeable that he knew I could set the curse at anytime I wanted.
"Yes, thorn and I have some details to work out about some other packs, and the Council. Talk of war is coming and Thorn will need my help." I grabbed my staff and let myself out of the office, "however, I will take the room for now, Lilly dear come with me." I held out my arm and kept my hood over my eyes, as Lilly walked me up to the room I've grown accustomed to staying when I was here. Lilly opened the door as I asked her to come inside. I put my finger over my lips in a shhh way, I could tell she was confused, but I took my hood off and looked at her, she stepped back and fell, tripping over something.
"What happened!" she whisper-yelled.
"Shhhh," I said, "I've lost my eyesight, I can feel most things and still sense things like before so it's a different type of seeing; but I need some extra help if you don't mind."
"I don't need you to betray Thorn, but I do need someone on the inside to keep me informed about the Council, if he tells anyone I'm here, things like that."
Lilly responded with "I'm not sure if I can. Wouldn't that go against my pack??"
"No," I said, "though, there's only one thing I can offer for this exchange of information."
She was tense, "I won't accept any money, this is betrayal??" she was clearly upset about this.
"No, I don't want any information against Thorn, only information that contains myself and I need to know if he will contact the Council, it's important." I said, "again, the only thing I can offer is to find..your Mate."
She made some weird noise and sort of flopped on the bed.
