James quickly changed and rushed to find Helen. He sniffed the air as he got to the ground floor to see if he could follow the sweet lavender scent which comforted him and excited him in equal measure. James caught the scent and followed it out towards the large garden. Helen was sat with her back to him, he stood for a moment staring at her, her golden blond hair hung around her shoulders moving gently in the breeze. At 5 foot 6 she was petite for a wolf but perfectly formed, James imagined that she would fit perfectly under his arm as they walk together in the future. Brad howled again in his mind "mate!, be with mate!"
Helen turned as she felt eyes on her warming the back of her neck, she smiled to herself before pushing it down and turning round to confirm her suspicion about who was spying on her. James flinches as she turned and started to move towards her again to try and cover that he was watching her. James felt the need to touch her, to be close to her but tried to resist, stopping just inches away from her. "Hi James, are you free, can we go and see the Pup now?" Helen gabbled, she felt churning in her stomach which was new, James looked at her and grinned, she is normally so controlled and put together. "She is starting to feel the bond" Brad growled suddenly excited. "its too early Brad she's not 18 for 2 months" James reasoned with his impatient wolf. "Yes Helen, let's go check on the little one, I'm sure the medical team are looking after her well"
Together they walked the short distance towards the modern hospital building, James kept close to Helen. They reached for the door at the same time and their hands met, sparks flew up James and through his entire body, his length hardened slightly in his jeans. Helen pulled her hand back having felt sparks run through her arm, she looked up and was shocked by the intensity that James was staring at her. They stood for a few seconds just staring at each other. "mate! mate! mate!" Brad shouted in James mind. Helen looked at James in a new way, like she had not really seen him before, she noticed his piercing blue eyes and his strong jaw line. His messy light brown hair and stubble framed his face perfectly. His muscular body and long limbs made him look like a Greek god, he took her breath away for just a second whilst they stared into each others eyes. James regained control over himself and grinned down at Helen, pushing the door open to the hospital building. As quickly as it happened, the moment was broken but he knew there would be many more in their future.
Dr Chapman waved at the pair as he moved between rooms checking on patients and Helen and James walked along the corridor down to the nursery. Caroline was feeding one of the other Pups and pointed to the crib where the Pup they had found on the beach was wriggling and cooing. Helen and James peered in and smiled down at her, "Has she been given a name yet?" James asked Caroline "not yet" came the reply. He turned to Helen and smiled " what do you think? she needs a name even if its just until we find her parents" Helen stayed quiet watching the little one and thinking, naming a child was a big deal and she wanted to get it right, something inside her made her come up with a name she had not really heard of before thoughtfully she whispered, "what about Amari? I think it means miracle"
James lifted the Pup out of the crib and walked to the large window looking out across the garden as the sun was beginning to set. He smiled down at the Pup "I think Amari suits her" he turned to Caroline, "can we put it on her record please? she may have a name but she will be Amari until we find her parents" "of course, she is due a feed now, can I take her?" The Pup lay in his arms looking up at James, he passed her over to Caroline for her feed. Caroline cooed down at Amari and busied herself feeding the little one.
James held the door open for Helen signaling it was time to head back to the pack house, "we will come and visit again tomorrow Caroline" James called as they walked down the long corridor.
