You are never alone
In a small, not-so-populated town, Elena lives. She moved into her uncle's huge house, which she inherited after his death. In this house, people, including myself, have lived in peace for years. Everything was fine until she came and decided to explore my territory. The locked door at the very end of the long, dark hallway. No one ever touched it because it wasn’t important to them. There are 10 bedrooms in this house, mine isn't needed. But of course, like in every horror movie, she had to find a way to get into this room. She searched for the key for days, but then gave up and decided to break the door down with her foot. It wasn’t that hard, considering everything was decaying since nothing had been changed in ages. She entered the room and started sniffing around my things, opening my drawers, and looking under my bed. I’m just afraid she’ll find it... she found it. She took it and left my room, not realizing she had just started a war. I followed her as she walked from my room to the living room. She sat on the bed, took some mint tea. Oops, her hand twitched, not under her control, and the tea spilled onto her shirt. She screamed and immediately ran to the bathroom to take off her shirt. I didn’t think the tea was that hot, I don’t want to hurt her, I just want to scare her so she wouldn’t touch my things. I wanted to pick up my journal and put it back in its place, but she came out of the bathroom just as I was heading toward it. If she reads even one sentence written in it, I’ll return to nothingness again. Just the thought of that gives me chills. I snatched the journal from her and began to hide it better in my room, but of course, she started screaming. “Calm down, please,” “I can explain,” “I just need privacy,” but of course, she couldn’t hear me. Screaming, she ran out of the house. At least she didn’t take any holy water and sprinkle it around like the tenant from 300 years ago who sent me back to nothingness. I can fix this, I can fix everything. I went after her, hitting her on the back of the head with the journal as hard as I could. I caught her just before she fell to the ground. It’s night, no one’s around, no one can see any of this. I dragged her into the room, threw her onto the bed. I went back to my room, found a better place to hide my journal, and somehow pushed the wardrobe against the door. She’ll wake up, think it was all a dream, and even if she tries to open the door, she’ll never be able to. We’ll continue to live in peace, and I’ll keep pretending to live a human life, because this room is all that’s left of that.
