Talia’s POV “Where am I?” I opened my eyes and the forest stared back. The smell of damp earth made me cough. The moon was too bright. Too close. My head throbbed and my heart raced. “This is not real. It has to be a dream. ” I tried to move but my legs felt like lead. “Come on, Talia. Get up. ” My hands touched the cold ground. The dew soaked my skin. My hair clung to my face. I swallowed hard. “Why am I here? Why now?” Something shifted in the shadows. “Did I imagine that?” I held my breath. My chest ached. I remembered fragments of my past life. Pain, fear, running, hiding. “I survived before. I can survive now. ” A low growl broke the silence. eyes glowing. My stomach lurched. “No. Not again. ” My body froze. My eyes found it. Teeth glinting, “I cannot run. I cannot hide. I have to face it. ” Then he was there. Not from the shadows. Not from the trees.
