THE MARRIAGE DEAL
The Mafia King’s Forbidden Wife Chapter One: The Marriage Deal The night Elena Rossi discovered she was being sold, it was raining. Not the gentle kind of rain that made people feel peaceful. It was the kind that attacked the windows of the Rossi mansion like it was trying to break inside. Elena stood at the top of the grand staircase, staring down at the people gathered in the family hall. Her father sat behind his massive oak desk, his face unreadable. Across from him sat a man she had only heard about in whispers. Adrian De Luca. The name alone carried fear. Businessmen feared him. Criminals respected him. Enemies disappeared after crossing him. To the world, he was a billionaire CEO who controlled one of the largest financial empires in Europe. But Elena knew better. Everyone knew better. Behind the expensive suits, luxury cars, and perfect public image was a man who ruled the underground world with an iron hand. The Mafia King. And tonight, he was sitting in her home. Waiting for her. “Elena,” her father called. She slowly walked down the stairs, refusing to show the nervousness twisting inside her chest. “What is going on?” she asked. Her father avoided her eyes. That alone frightened her. Marco Rossi was many things — powerful, stubborn, and ruthless — but he had never looked afraid in front of her. Until now. “Sit down,” he said. Elena remained standing. “I prefer to stand.” A faint smile touched Adrian De Luca’s lips. Not a kind smile. A dangerous one. Interesting. That was the first thought that crossed his mind when he looked at her. Most people became nervous when they entered his presence. They lowered their eyes, softened their voices, and begged for his approval. But Elena Rossi looked directly at him. Like she had forgotten he was someone to fear. “You have your mother’s courage,” Adrian said quietly. Elena’s expression changed. Her mother had been dead for years. And Adrian De Luca knowing anything about her made a cold feeling run through her body. “How do you know my mother?” Silence filled the room. Her father’s jaw tightened. Adrian leaned back in his chair. “Your family has many secrets, Elena.” “And yours doesn’t?” For a moment, nobody spoke. Then Adrian smiled. A real smile this time. Small. Dangerous. “You’re brave.” “No,” Elena replied. “I’m just tired of powerful men deciding my life without asking me.” Her father stood. “Elena, enough.” “No. I want answers.” She looked between the two men. “Why is he here?” Her father hesitated. Then he said the words that changed everything. “You’re going to marry Adrian De Luca.” The room went completely silent. Elena stared at him. For a moment, she wondered if she had heard incorrectly. “What?” “You heard me.” A bitter laugh escaped her lips. “You cannot be serious.” “This marriage will protect our family.” “Protect us from what?” Her father said nothing. And that silence told her everything. Elena turned toward Adrian. “And you agreed to this?” His eyes met hers. Cold. Unforgiving. “Yes.” “Why?” Adrian stood slowly. Even without raising his voice, he controlled the entire room. “Because this marriage benefits both of us.” “I’m not a business deal.” “No,” Adrian said. He walked closer. “You’re something much more dangerous.” Elena frowned. “And what is that?” His gaze remained fixed on hers. “A weakness my enemies could use against me.” Her heartbeat quickened, but she refused to step back. “I don’t belong to you.” Adrian looked at her for a long moment. Then he spoke softly. “Everyone says that before they enter my world.” The confidence in his voice irritated her. “You think because you have money and power, you can control everyone?” “No.” He stopped in front of her. “I know because everyone eventually chooses survival.” Elena clenched her fists. She hated him already. She hated the way he spoke like he knew everything. She hated the way everyone seemed afraid of him. Most of all, she hated that a small part of her was curious about the man behind the rumors. Her father placed a contract on the table. “Tomorrow, you will sign.” Elena looked at the papers. A marriage contract. Her future reduced to ink and signatures. She slowly looked back at her father. “You planned this without me.” “It was necessary.” “No.” Her voice became quieter. “It was convenient.” She turned away, refusing to let them see the pain in her eyes. But before she could leave, Adrian spoke. “Elena.” She stopped. “Whether you accept this or not, our families are already connected.” She looked over her shoulder. His expression was unreadable. “But understand one thing.” He stepped closer. “This marriage may have started as a deal…” His voice lowered. “But it will end with the truth.” Elena frowned. “What truth?” For the first time, something changed in Adrian’s eyes. Something darker. Something that looked almost like regret. “The truth about why your father really gave you to me.” The words froze her. Before she could ask another question, Adrian walked away. Leaving her with one terrifying thought. This marriage was not about money. It was not about business. It was not even about revenge. Something much bigger was hiding beneath the surface. And Elena Rossi had just become part of a war she never knew existed.
