Chapter Three

2021 Words
~Catlin's POV~ I wasnt sure how long I had slept. All I remembered was that man, his gentle touch, and the way he spoke softly before I drifted asleep. When I woke up I felt something bumping beneath me. I sat up groggy and looked around while rubbing my head. My head felt as if someone had pounded on it with a hammer. I realized I was in a car and my first thought was Mason had found me and was taking me home but when I looked towards the driver seat, I noticed it was that man from the hospital. He spoke and I just looked at him. I wasn't sure what to do and I didn't think if I tried to run I would get far. I wasn't a fast runner besides I was still too sleepy to focus.  Feeling the car being parked and Spencer turned and said something I just looked at him. I could hear his words but they were not registering in my head. When he got out, I kept the blanket tightly in my hands as if it were going to protect me. I could see the concerned look on his face, when he climbed from the car I knew I should do the same. I didn't want to be left alone in the car in a place I didn't know. Entering the house, I stayed close but instantly I heard barking. I let out a scream and turned to run. The last time I was around dogs they were mean, Mason used them for entertainment sometimes. I remember one woman hurt him and he made the dogs attack her.  Before I could make it to the garage door, I heard spencer yell for me to stop. I instantly stopped and lowered my head. I knew I had just done something wrong and made him mad. At least I thought I did, I turned to look at him and apologize but he was quick to tell me the dog wouldn't hurt me. I looked at the dog as it sat at the door and tilted his head towards me. Oliver raised a paw as if he was trying to wave which made me smile and I couldn't help but feel a little excited. I looked towards spencer who hadn't noticed I was smiling but when he turned He too smiled. With his explanation of how Oliver would listen if I told him down or sit, I nodded and allowed myself to walk into the house. I paused right before the door and reaching out to allow Oliver to sniff my hand and he instantly seemed happy. His tail started to wag and I looked back towards Spencer and he nodded his head in approval.  Once in the house, Oliver couldn't stay away from me. I also couldn't keep my hands off his fur, he was so soft and somehow I felt safe with the dog by my side. Spencer picked up his stuff and lead me to the kitchen. "I am sorry" I finally said causing Spencer to look towards me as he placed his stuff on the counter. "Why? You have no reason to be sorry." He said before walking to the fridge and grabbing a frozen pizza. I watched him as I moved to sit on the barstool of the island counter. "I ran from you, I shouldn't run from you." I said as watched him. When he set the timer he turned and looked at me. "You have been traumatized, I can't imagine what you have been through but I promise you, No one will ever hurt you here. Your Kidnappers will not find you here. Oliver and I will do our best to protect you." He said before moving to the fridge grabbing a bottle of beer and a soda for me. Placing the soda in front of me he opened his beer and took a swig of it. "Why does everyone keep saying that?" I asked and Spencer looked at me confused. "I wasn't kidnapped.. My parents died and My future husband's family took me in.." I said as I picked at the soda cane in front of me. Spencer looked at me for a moment before taking another swig of his beer. "Is that what you remember?" He asked and I nodded yes and lowered my head. While I was looking down he placed his bottle on the counter and walked out of the room. I looked towards the door, Did I upset him? I wondered but stayed where I was sitting. I finally opened the soda and took a small drink of it before smacking my lips. I never was allowed to drink soda at the house. When I went to take another drink Spencer came in with a few pieces of papers and laid them on the counter.  the papers were news clippings from when I was kidnapped. I picked one up and looked at it before grabbing another one and looking at it. "What is this?" I asked not wanting to believe this. Mason wouldn't lie to me, I thought. He never hurt me nor had he ever lied to me. The other woman of course wasn't lucky but he said he only did those things so he wouldn't have to hurt me. I felt my body shaking again, I was angry but I was scared. I looked up to spencer who was frowning and leaning against the counter. "Why? Why are you lying to me?" I yelled before I pushed the stool back making it fall over with a loud thud. Oliver jumped back and yelped before running around the counter. My eyes started to burn with tears before I picked up the soda can and tossed it at spencer who dodged it like it was a game of dodgeball. "You kidnapped me! You brought me here.. I want to leave!" I turned towards the back door and started for it but Spencer caught my idea.  ~Spencer's POV~  'f**k' I thought before I rushed around the counter and grabbed her in my arms. 'too soon' I thought before I tried to turn her away from the door. She started screaming louder for help but I knew no one would hear her. I didn't want to scare her more but I knew I had to tell her the truth. "Catlin stop, Listen to me. No one will hear you. Please stop" I said before lifting her so her feet were not touching the floor. She kicked and wiggled before her elbow hit the side of my head. "f**k!" I yelled out before swinging her around and slamming her against the counter. She cried out and I knew it had to hurt. Oliver started to bark and growl. "Catlin please stop" I tried again but she kept squirming and kicking. "Stop it and I will let you go" I yelled and she for a moment stop wiggling. I could hear her breathing heavy and I knew she was going to try to run again the moment I let her go.  I hated myself for being so rough with her. She was just a child, A child who was beyond traumatized and I was probably only making it worst. I started to loosen my hold on her and when I finally stepped back she didn't move. I was scared I had gone too far and really hurt her so I moved to touch her shoulder and help her stand but she quickly turned and punched me in the nose causing me to stumble back. "f**k" I shouted as I cupped my nose with my hand. This girl was a fighter, No wonder they wanted her. I glanced up and noticed she was in a fighting stance ready to strike again. I couldn't help but laugh. "Damn, you really know how to throw don't you?" I said before reaching past her and grabbing the towel. She flinched but when she saw I wasn't going to touch her she stepped away. "I am sorry, I shouldn't have told you all that so soon. I don't.. I don't know how to deal with this kind of thing." I said before pushing the towel against my nose to stop the bleeding.  She stepped back and lowered her fists before looking to the door. I sighed and looked to the door too. "Look, I know this is all scary but Please don't leave. Give me a few weeks and if you still want to go back then I will personally take you back." I said knowing that was probably going to make her hate me in two weeks when I broke my promise and didn't return her. She took a breath then nodded before moving to pick up the stool she knocked over. I walked to the fridge and grabbed a bag of frozen peas and tossed them towards her to use for her hand. "I have a friend who deals with this kind of thing. If I ask her to come will you talk to her?" I asked before grabbing my beer and chugging the last part. "yes.." That was all she said before she looked away from me. I sighed and nodded my head before the timer went off.  After we ate I showed Catlin her new room, but she immediately asked to be left alone. I knew it was a bad idea but I didn't want to upset her any more than I already had. I was now sitting in my study. My nose still burning with pain from the punch she had given me. I made sure to give her the room right above my study so I could hear if she tried to sneak out the window. But it was quiet, My guess was she had fallen asleep. It was early in the morning and I haven't even slept but I didn't want to wake up to her gone. I picked up my cell and called the number to the guard company and asked for them to send some men and women to keep an eye on the house and explained the situation. It was one of the perks of having rich parents. When I finished the call I picked up the photo of Sarah and Me on the beach with puppy Oliver and sighed before tracing my finger over Sarah. "Where are you?" I asked before setting the photo down and making my way up to my room to get some sleep.  ~Mason's POV~  "What do you mean the house was raided! When this happen?" I yelled as I stood up knocking papers off the desk I had been sitting at. "Where is She? Where is my Angel!" I yelled again and the men stood by the door of my office shaking in their boots. "Uh, it happened around midnight.." One of the men said before the other one shrugged. "We don't know, Nathan never called us from the rally point.." I felt my whole body go into rage mode before I stepped around the desk pulling my gun from the holster beneath my jacket. I was quick to point the barrel at the men and they both threw their hands up. "We will find her!" One spoke and the other just nodded his head in agreement. "You have twenty-four hours Or I will r**e your wives!" I yelled and they quickly stumbled out of the room. The moment the door shut I turned around and yelled louder than I have before. My precious little Angel was missing, or worst the police had her and I would never get her back.  I walked over to my desk and picked up the photo of Catlin and stared it down for a moment before slamming it down causing the glass to break. my hand started to ooze with blood as I growled out. "I will have you back before your birthday is up. Daddy is going to make sure he gives you your special present" I said before turning and walking to pour myself a glass of whiskey.
