Contract

I slammed the door shut behind me, immediately, the whole silence in the room welcomed me. I moved towards my bed to sit as I felt exhausted by everything happening lately.
In Just A week, I got divorced and I'm about to be remarried. Trying to sustain my pack as the Luna and making sure of their welfare is indeed a huge task which I won't be able to take on alone.
I sighed deeply, recalling what just transpired between Alpha Ryker and I. I couldn't say that he overreacted, any normal Alpha would..
I had to let him go now and fix my life. I need to keep my pup and save my pack from getting overthrown by our enemies.
Everything was just so stuck up on my neck, making me regret my decisions of marrying Lucas in the first place. I spent three good years with him and my reward was a divorce and endless cheating for so many months.
If only I had listened to my grandpa when he explained things to me, if only I had married Ryker from the very beginning—then I wouldn't be going through all of these things.
I didn't step outside my room all day, afraid to meet Ryker. I didn't want to talk to him and I was so ashamed to say anything to him.
Tomorrow, he will be leaving and I have failed my grandpa and my pack for not being able to keep our future leader.
I must find a solution to this, even though it might be difficult, I cannot just sleep on the whole Issue.
I summoned butler James and he attended to me immediately. The old man I gray colored suit stared at me confusedly. He already knew about my pregnancy because he was there when the doctor announced it to Alpha Ryker.
"Madam, are you alright? I heard the news. What did the Alpha say?" He asked curiously.
I paused the actions of my hands and dropped the tool I was fidgeting with for a moment. I looked at him, so many questions were written in his eyes but he was afraid to ask.
"Butler James, you know about my pregnancy" I said to him and he nodded politely. "Yes ma'am, I do," he responded.
"Good. How many other people know about it?" I asked.
"No one. Just me and Alpha Ryker. I think his Beta also knows." He replied.
I rubbed my temples slowly, trying to think of something. Nothing was coming in.
I finally looked at him again and I asked.
"Has Alpha Ryker made plans of leaving? Is there anything I need to know about him?" I asked him. I needed to find something on Ryker. I cannot just let him go.
"Yes, ma'am. Arthur and I did some investigations on him and it turns out that he is also in need of this marriage. In order not to lose his rights as the Alpha of his pack, he has to get married and have an heir soon"
"Interesting…" I said, my hands subconsciously began to fidget the object again.
"Send him a message. I'm inviting him out to dinner " I instructed butler James. Since Alpha Ryker and I both need each other, there isn't any reason for us to pretend.
If he doesn't want to make an offer first then I will do that for him. Anything to keep him as the leader of my pack until my son is born and everything comes back to normal.
Butler James left immediately to get the job done.
I stood up and went to my wardrobe to pick up something. It was a necklace left by my grandpa to give to Alpha Ryker once he accepted the alliance. He explained to me that his father also had one and it was a sign of exchange from both Alphas.
Grandpa spent so many years protecting all of these in order for it to come to pass. How can I just let it all go?
‘Grandpa, I made a mistake. Please lead me to the right path" I said in a low voice before I turned when I heard the door open.
It was butler James who walked in.
"You're here early. Any news?" I asked, stepping away from the wardrobe after putting the necklace back to its place.
Butler James had a cold look in his eyes, as if something bad had happened. I couldn't help but worry. "Did Alpha Ryker reject my invitation?'' I asked.
"Luna.. I" he couldn't find the right words to use to announce it to me.
"Tell me!" I almost yelled, dying from impatience
"Alpha Ryker…." Butler James wasn't able to finish up his sentence when Alpha Ryker walked inside and interrupted him.
"I heard you were looking for me?" His cold voice resounded loudly in the silent room. "Luna, I will be at my post"
Butler James immediately excused us so we could talk.
I turned to stare at a man whose face was stone cold and no single smile could be seen on his lips as he looked at me.
Indeed, he must hate me so much right now. Most especially my child but I didn't care. I never wanted to marry him in the first place.
"Why do you want to see me, Luna Elisabeth?" He called my name as he asked. Ryker moved closer to me, although his presence was so uncomfortable because of the way he acted, I still had to condone for the sake of my pack.
"What do you want in exchange for the alliance? I mean, if we are not going to do it by marriage, you should have another thing you want, right?" I asked him, nervously awaiting his response.
"Luna Lisa, you are so ambitious," he said coldly.
Ryker was closer to me now and the atmosphere was getting hot. I looked at him and I smirked. "What do you mean?" I asked him.
"You know exactly what I mean." He answered, grabbing my chin and pinching it slightly.
"What do you have to offer me?" He asked.
"Make your choice. You know my pack has so many things to offer. You will lead my pack after marriage. Since we aren't getting married anymore, we just want an alliance now. I can offer you weapons, lands and support during wars. You just have to return the favor when we also need it" I explained.
His face was closer to mine now, I could feel the heat on my face when his lips almost touched mine.
"Y.. you" I stuttered and he placed his finger on my lips. "Don't speak," he ordered me.
Is he trying to seduce me or something? I was surprised but I just let him play his game, if it will get me what I want, then I'm ready "
"We will get married, Luna Elisabeth " he announced, his lips suddenly repositioned near my ears and he whispered.
"I know this is a marriage of convenience, but darling, there's absolutely nothing convenient about me"....
His words sent chills down my spine but I had to be brave. Maybe he was trying to scare me into backing down but I won't.
"Your fire doesn't scare me, Alpha Ryker" I blurted out, trying to show him that I am not the weak Luna I used to be. I won't let my pack lose and I will fulfill my grandfather's wish.
"Come in" I heard him say and when I looked, Beta Adams entered the bedroom.
He had some files in his hands as he walked in. Alpha Ryker had him give it to me. "Here" he said.
"The contract for our marriage. It has everything you need to know." Alpha Ryker explained.
I was stunned when I heard him talk about a contract.. Why do we need a contract?
