“Today is the day” i tell myself as I struggle to wake. I giant stretch takes over me from the tips of my fingers stretching above my head and my back arching, all the way to my toes. My stretch is accompanied by an equally large yawn. I finally make my way out of the wattle to see the others have already got the fire going back and some of the women have started breakfast. I look around and see the men preparing to leave for their hunt that starts tomorrow.their mates helping occasionally. I go sit by the fire and not long after I’m accompanied by my father who’s the chief. “Dad, I’d like to go on this hunt and today is my coming of age ceremony and what better way to start off?” He quickly turned to me with grin on his face. “I’m so proud of you Nita, but I’m not sure you should go, there’s been issues with the neighboring tribe.” “But I’m 18 today.” I fire back quickly. I eventually convince him to let me go which gets me excited. I finally get to let my wolf out for the first time. Since shifting isn’t allowed until you have had all your training and turn 18. I got start getting my things together for the hunt tomorrow quickly before the ceremony. I have trained along side all the warriors for the last 4 years and have continued to prove myself daily with sparing and keeping up with the best of the best. And on occasion beating them. Im quickly accompanied by my two younger sister so help me dress and prepare for my coming of age ceremony. I put on my dress and my sister help me with my necklaces and accessories. Once I’m finally dressed for the ceremony I exit our home (the wattle). We all eat and dance the through the night with the sounds of drums and chanting fills with air. Prayers are said over me and the elders give me their blessings. Afterwards I head home to bed because morning will come quickly. I lay down staring upwards wondering when I will meet my mate and if they are thinking of me. And I drift off into a beautiful slumber.
