Cade’s POV
Seeing the love between our mate and Maria was truly touching. They have such a warm, loving relationship. As I watch them together, it makes me think about all that my brothers and I missed because we lost our mom at such a young age. Dad always did his best to make up for her being gone, but sometimes there is no substitution for a mother’s love. There are many times throughout my childhood I wish I could have laid in her arms and fallen asleep there. Although Maria is going to be our stepmother, I hope that we can build a good relationship with her, not just for Alaia’s sake, but for us as well. Even though we are adults, it will be nice having a maternal figure in our lives again.
