Behind Iron Bars

ROSEWOOD EUREKA Davina sat on the enormous veranda of the Sky Bar Gourmet Pizzeria making a phone call with one of their proposed clients as she slowly sipped her glass of vodka. “Your hardwares is ready and you will be receiving them soon, plus you didn’t order blasters and Gats on time and we are already out of stock for now. I would advise you to make preorders for them now before the next shipment arrives so as not to be stranded again." She said and after a profitable negotiation with her client she ended the call. “You don’t look like you are from around here, are you?” Miller who was previously sitting just across Davina’s table said while walking up to her. Davina thought he was merely seeking her attention and gave him a devilish side glare whilst she continued gulping down her glass of chilled vodka and typing something hurriedly on her phone. Not minding being ignored, Miller continued, “Those slangs aren’t common around this region." Davina suddenly became alarmed and swiftly stood up to her feet giving Miller an irritated look. “What are you blabbering about?” she asked, sounding a bit agitated. Smiling, he replied, “You know very well what I am blabbering about dear. And by the way you look like a dangerous war lord.” Miller complimented her all black hoodies and the dark shade she wore. “Then I assume it’s none of your business.” Davina stated, walking out on him. As this wasn't her first time in Eureka nor at the bar and haven been familiar with the routes, she tried her best in confusing Millers before she headed back to the warehouse after she noticed that she was been followed by him despite the late night dark weather. “Not so fast dear.” Miller said in a rather ridiculous tone. On hearing the same voice she heard at the bar, Davina became aware of the situation around her and tried to come up with a fast and sensible plan to escape the unforeseen trouble. “Hands in the air or I uhm……sho…ot you.” Miller stammered a bit on his last statement as he gestured with an empty hand but Davina did as she was told since she didn't see his hands were empty. “Oh I forgot I didn’t come with any heaters.” Miller muttered, partially talking to himself this time and using the gun slang because he knew she understood well. Davina slowly turned around and smiled scornfully at him, “Well then I guess it’s your lucky day, because I'm not with any heaters myself." Miller sounded hilarious “I guess that makes us even and we are left with only one choice.” He said, staring at his fist. She moved backward a bit, halted and ran towards Miller giving him a hard punch on his face, giving him a slight nose bleed. “Wow, that's a strong fist you’ve got dear.” Miller complimented, staggering backward and rubbing his injured nose. "I think I got really bad luck with my nose this week." He muttered to himself. Kyle paused for a while before reacting to Davina’s punch with an attempt to hit her but she was fast enough to evade it. This resulted in a rigorous fight between the two. The fight lasted for nearly twenty minutes before they stopped as they were both tired. “Wow, you are stronger than I thought,” Miller said, laying tiredly on the ground with a bruised face at one corner of the warehouse. “You are not bad yourself.” Davina replied equally looking disorganized and obviously tired. Few minutes after their resting, two FBI cars drove into the warehouse. Davina was too tired to run so she just sat down and waited till she was taken into one of the cars which would be going back to their office immediately while the other one would be waiting to inspect the warehouse. One of the agents urged Miller to go with the other car which would be leaving immediately but he refused stating that he would be inspecting the place with them. “Sir, we’ve already been told that you are on suspension thereby making it impossible for you to investigate with us.” the agent insisted. Miller smirked at the agent and angrily left the warehouse giving a last glance at Davina who was already in the car and Davina didn't fail to smile back at him, as if she was content with being arrested. Though this was supposed to be the trouble she feared, she looked calm and unconcerned by the turn out of the event. Miller went back to the bar, took his car and left angrily for his home. After a few minutes of driving, Miller stopped half-way into his veranda and drove back to the FBI office at the City Center Eureka. He went inside and saw Davina sitting in one of the cells but ignored her and went directly into the office of the Deputy Assistant Director {DAD} who was in charge of the FBI office in Eureka. Banging the door open and spotting Hardin at the office he exclaimed, “I knew you would be here, that explains why everyone already knows I am on suspension Mr. Supervisory Special Agent”. “You can’t do this here as well Miller, let’s step out for a bit.” Matilda, who was also present at the office, interrupted, dragging Miller out of the office. “Do you always have to pick up on Hardin whenever you come across him not minding the presence of others?” Matilda asked, frowning. "That was the DAD there just now." She added, emphasizing on the gravity of his offense but Miller could care less. “Well, I don’t know about that, but one thing I am sure of is that I am not opting out of this case until it’s resolved." Miller fired at Matilda who was standing just right in front of Davina’s cell. "Afterall, I caught her." He added. Miller proceeded to sit down in one of the numerous chairs arranged in front of the cell. “Be careful Miller, you might get yourself fired one of these days.” Matilda said while walking back to the office. “I will be anticipating that , dear.” He replied smiling slyly at her as he thought of how best he had to go about the case since he was on his own now.
