The Client

Chapter 3

I had meetings with new clients all morning. I went to lunch with sam at 1045 to be sure i would be late to my meeting with Bennett at 11. We took our sweet time. Once back in office i can see his shadow in my office. I straighten my skirt and fix my hair before going in my office. “Sorry Bennett, Lunch date ran a little longer than planned.” I can see the fury in his eyes “Date?” He said i could tell how pissed he was. “ Here are your papers, we go to court at 6 am tomorrow morning are you prepared?” I handed him his papers, instead of grabbing the papers he grabs my wrist “You are mine, no more dates” I melt at those words “ Bennett, i don’t think you are hearing me correctly, i will not date my clients.” “After tomorrow i will no longer be your client.” He stands to leave but not before he grabs my neck and pulls me into him, his scent is so arousing, i could cave at any moment, our eyes meet “Kelly, i don’t know what you are doing to me, but please stop playing hard to get, i will make it worth your while.” He releases me and walks from my office.

Sam, i called her into my office to talk about what just happened “What are you going to do Kels?” I roll my eyes she knows how i am “I am going to f**k him and make him regret every utter those words at me” What the hell did i just say? My eyes are as wide as Sams. My next client walks in Sam excusing herself and we get to business. I bury myself in my work the rest of the day by the time i look up its 7 in the evening. “You have a benefit to be at in 39 minutes Kelly, your dress and shoes are out here” f**k i forgot all about that “This is why I keep you around” I hurry to her i put my shoes on while she braids my hair leaving two pieces to the side to frame my face. “Will you come our with me please?” “ No can do, going out with Kenzie tonight, sorry boss” she rejected. I let out a deep sigh and stroll to the door. The benefit is only 3 blocks from my office i make it in plenty time.

Once i get there i start getting offers of bigger pay and what not to leave my firm and come to theirs, we want you on our team blah blah blah. It’s all nonsense they want me because i win. I want to stay at my firm, my coworkers are amazing and the partners are amazing. I make my rounds talking and saying my congrats where they are due. “Nice to meet you Kelly, I’m Debra Dunlap and this is my—uh— boyfriend Josh.” “Hello, nice to meet you,” i’m assuming she didn’t know i was representing her husband in the morning. How dare she flaunt her boyfriend in everyone’s faces, i suddenly felt possessive over Bennett. Wonder what he was doing. I let my mind slip for a moment, my phone ringing brought me back to reality. “Sam what’s up?” “Just your rescue call to get you out of there.” I loved this women “Oh, no I’ll be right there” I say as i look at John, one of the partners.

I get into my car, let my hair done. I let my top down I needed to get home and get to bed, but i also wanted to go for a run. I get home and change into my running gear. Out the door and i start running, i didn’t stretch or warm up i just needed to go. Fantasizing how good Bennetts hands would feel all over my body, god how i wanted his touch all over my body. I kept going running faster and harder until my mind is cleared. My heart is pounding through my chest i need to stop. I stopped but i was in front of Al’s. This was 10 miles from my house. I go inside to cool down and grab some water. As i enter i see Bennett in a group of guys, our eyes lock, f**k.

I ask Carlos for a glass of water he gives me a c****d look, i don’t think I’ve ever asked him for a glass of water. Just act natural Kelly, act like you didn’t see him. My beast was calm, now it is roaring again. f**k i can’t keep putting up a front. I am craving him. I can’t keep denying it. After tomorrow i will never see him again. I just need to make it until 7 am tomorrow when court is over.

“ You look a wreck Kels what were you doing? He laughed at me with his stern look. Did he just call me Kels? Why does he keep pushing down my walls. “Kelly, please and nothing I was running, i like going to bed before court with a clear mind.” I eagerly replied “ Please tell me I’m the reason your mind is foggy” he groans in a low sexy voice “Sorry Bennett, I’ll see you tomorrow morning.” I brush him off. As i go to leave he stops me “ Let me drive you home please, it’s dark and we are in New York, i can’t stand the thought of you alone running with all these predators on the street.” “You are the predator” I remark which makes him angry. He kisses my forehead my knees buckle “Oh Baby, if only lets go I’ll take you home.” i nod as his lips are still on my forehead. My body is going to give in, he tells his friends he is leaving and grabs my hand and escorts me out the door holding me very close as he is shielding me from any eyes. “Where do you live?” He questions “Off of Harrison” I say “No, i asked where you live I’m not just dropping you in the middle of the street, where do you live?” “Bennett” “If you don’t answer me Kelly you will be screaming my name in about 30 seconds” I challenged him not answering, he slams on his breaks and grabs my cheek making me look at him, oh s**t he is serious. “The Oaks Harrison and Alberta.” I quickly reply

We pull up to my buildings doorway i go to get out as i hear the engine stop. “Bennett i will see you in the morning, thank you for the ride home goodnight.” “ I will walk you to your door Kelly.” What have i gotten myself into? “No need Bennett I’ll be fine.” He ignored me, following me to the pent house elevator, his eyebrow c***s, lets out a low hum. We get in the elevator and i create space, which is useless he closes that gap. Only 15 more floors, i’m counting down the floors when suddenly my lips are on fire, his lips are on mine. I’m weak in my knees he has me pinned on the wall kissing me deeper and deeper when finally a ding and he pulls off of me. “Goodnight Bennett” I say as i exit. “Goodnight Princess.” Princess played over and over in my head. I’m on cloud nine i hurry and go to bed. I need to be on my game in the morning i do not lose in court and this will not be my first.
