CULLEN . "Make arrangements for our journey back home." Cullen instructed Degar with his usual scrowl that had been etched on his face like a second skin since the beginning of time. "We're seriously going back home?" Degar asked in disbelief, his eyes fixated on Cullen who didn't give the slightest damn about his outburst. "Did I stutter, Degar?" "No my lord. I'm just surprised that you want to go home after—" He paused in sudden hesitation but Cullen already knew why he was concerned. It was because of that woman he had met yesterday, his potential mate. He knew that Degar didn't want him to leave until he finds her at the very least but he's not prepared in hell to look for her. If he had his way, he'd also choose not to have her close to him. He has never wanted a woman and that rule isn't going to change simply because he met a drunk woman in the club last night who happens to be his mate. "Yes Degar, I want to go home. We're finished here with business aren't we? and I'm pretty sure that Velez has gotten my message as intended!" He replied conversionally. "I'm not talking about the stupid message. I was talking about the woman, the one you said—" "I'd appreciate it if you stopped talking about her Degar. I never said that I would go in search of her after last night or did I?" He questioned cutting him short, his eyes darkening almost immediately. Degar always has a way of pushing his buttons and he does it in the worst way possible. He still regretted that he had followed him to the club last night because if he hadn't, he wouldn't have met that woman. He had very important things to deal with and none of those things had a woman's name written in between them. He needed to go home. It was almost a necessity at this point. He hasn't been able to sleep since he got here not to mention that his dreams last night were filled with images of her. "As you wish my lord." Degar nodded curtly "So have you figured out who those men that attacked you last night were?" "I don't know although somehow they seem strangely familiar. It was as if I had met them before." Degar looked on curiously "Weren't you able to at least make out their scent?" "I tried to but I couldn't and another thing that baffled me was the fact that they had none." He stated, his brains calculating as though he was lost In thoughts. "But that's impossible!" Degar blurted out "You have an olfactory sense greater than any animal alive. The wolf and cougar resides inside you so how is it possible that you weren't able to pick up a single scent!" "Even I am surprised." He mumbled to himself. Cullen has heard of leaves and plants that were able to mask a human's scent but he thought that they had gone extinct and even if they weren't, could it be possible that those men knew about them? Another thing that troubled him was the fact that they came to that club. Did they somehow follow him there? And why try to kidnap the woman if they truly came for him? Maybe they were just thugs. He'd leave it as that and would try his very best not to let his imagination run wild concerning the matter. For all he knew, it could be a mere coincidence. "Anyways..." He breathed heavily "I highly doubt that they were sent by someone. For all we know, they could be thugs. The human world has always been filled with them." Degar nodded in understanding. "You're may be right my lord. Alright then, I'll make arrangements for us to leave tonight or would you rather like to go tomorrow morning?" "Tonight!" He responded sharply "If I spend another day in this place, I might actually loose my senses. It's beginning to get a lot suffocating here." He muttered the last statement to himself. Degar nodded and walked out of his presence leaving him alone with his thoughts which had been filled with nothing but that woman. How is it possible that he found her? Why did he have to see her there? The last thing he wanted was to get tangled up but now, he already was. That night, after making sure that everything was In order, they left for home. When they arrived at the border that separated the human world from him hometown, they took to the woods in their animal form till they arrived at the pack. "I'll take my leave now my lord!" Degar announced the minute he shifted back to his human form. Cullen nodded in response "Have some rest. You have been helpful these past few days." Degar grinned widely "Of course I'm helpful. You know that you can't do anything without me." Cullen watched him with a solemn look. His frown not wavering even for a single moment. "I will address the other members of the council later about our trip so until then, be at alert Degar otherwise, I'll be using you as an example to the other wolves." Degar gulped fearfully. Cullen could tell just by looking at him that he was scared but he only patted his shoulders before walking away from him. Shortly after, he arrived at his chambers and pulled out his wig that he had used as a disguise in the human world, letting his long silky hair fall loose in it's flowing mass. He proceeded to take off his clothes and headed straight to the shower. When he was finished, he sat down on his desk to continue with his work, forfeiting his slumber that had refused to come. . CELYN . Celyn flushed cheekily when she got the news of Cullen's return. She had not expected him to come back so soon but she was overjoyed. She had missed him so much and had longed to be on his bed ever since he left. And the worst part of everything was that she couldn't communicate with him and because she was nothing but the Lycan King's mistress, so no one paid any attention to her. They all treated her as trash as though she doesn't exist. She didn't bother herself with any of that though, she was only here for Cullen. He was her saviour and she answered to only him. No one existed in her world except him and she would make sure that she seals the bond between them and make their relationship a permanent one. She knew that it would take a lot of time and even though it might be difficult, she would still win him over. Approaching the kitchen, she heard the loud chartering coming from the maid who gossiped about her openly. She coughed and they immediately stopped talking and scampered out of the kitchen. Moira walked in as soon as they left. "Celyn?" She beckoned, bewildered "What are you doing here?" "The Lycan king is back Moira!" She announced happily. "I know. I heard from the sentinels that guarded the pack gates last night!" She answered and walked over to the counter to pick up her apron. "I want to go and see him." Moira faced her squarely "I'm pretty sure that he doesn't want to see anyone right now. Cullen is not the type to ask for an audience especially if it's not important." Celyn frowned visibly at the woman's statement. She felt insulted. Was she trying to tell her that she wasn't important to him? She has served him for as long as she could remember. Ever since he won over his pack, she had been by his side. She had tended not only to his physical wounds but his emotional and s****l needs as well. She was just as important as any person in this pack even though she was nothing but a lowly slave to him. "If he needs your presence, he'll send for you." Moira added in a bid to calm her down. "Did you take the herbs that I prepared for you last time?" Celyn nodded begrudgingly "I did." "You should know that it was Cullen's instruction to have you take them so make sure you do so that don't upset him." Moira warned her keenly. "I am not a child Moira!" She flared up "I know the purpose of those herbs and I always make sure to take them so please, let it be!" Moira ignored her outburst and continued with whatever she was doing. Bold of her to assume that her words made any difference. She would not take those herbs until she achieves her goal. She won't get tossed out when she had struggled all her life to be here. Impossible! She had waited for him. Even when the Lady Natalia died, she had been so delighted to know that she was one step closer so it would only remain so. "Where are you going with that?" She asked when Moira picked up a tray containing a cup of hot brewing tea and herbs. "Cullen's chambers. I want to serve him his morning tea." "I'll take it to him instead." She offered "Please let me take it to him. You must be extremely busy and I want to help take this matter off your hands." There was a brief pause before she handed the tray over to her. "Thank you Moira." She voiced out gratefully before taking the route that led to the stairs of Cullen's chambers.
