Seconds later, Sabrina and Brett hear footsteps in the hallway. In the doorway of Sabrina's room, Leo and Jesse are standing there with concern.
"What is it, sis?" Leo asks curiously.
Jessie and Leo see the seriousness in Sabrina's eyes and walk into her bedroom, closing the door behind them. They also notice that Sabrina has been crying again.
"Is something wrong, little sis?" Jesse asks.
"It's more like I've been hiding something from you," says Sabrina.
"What are you not telling us? You're not making any sense." Jesse asks in confusion.
"I know this will sound strange, but it's the truth. The truth is, I'm a vampire." Sabrina says as her voice cracks from nervousness.
Leo and Jessie stand there in silence, taking in what Sabrina revealed to them. Leo starts laughing.
"Hahaha! What are you talking about, Sabrina? You're not a vampire. Vampires only exist on t.v. shows." Leo says, still laughing.
Sabrina glares at Leo.
"I'm not joking, Leo," Sabrina shouts.
"There's no way that vampires are real. They belong in fairy tales." Leo says, with skepticism in his voice.
Jesse stands next to Leo, glaring at him. Jesse understands that Sabrina isn't joking. He realizes that Sabrina has kept this secret for a long time and for a good reason. He doesn’t know what that reason is just yet. Brett is still sitting next to Sabrina, trying to keep her calm by holding her hand.
"I'm telling the truth. I'm a vampire," says Sabrina, looking at Leo with desperation.
"Ha! If you're the vampire you say you are, prove it. Prove it by biting Brett." Leo says mockingly.
Jessie slaps Leo on the face.
"Are you for real, Leo? That's our sister you're talking to." Jesse growls.
Sabrina smiles apologetically at Jesse.
"Stand down, Jessie. Leo is right. I have to prove to him that I'm a vampire. It's the only way for him to believe me." Sabrina says as she turns to look at Brett.
Brett smiles at Sabrina and pulls down his shirt collar.
"It's alright, Sabrina. I have faith that you can stop," says Brett.
Sabrina nodded her head and then transformed herself. Leo and Jesse stare at Sabrina's face as it changes into something unworldly. Her eyes become bright gray and her fangs reveal themselves. She bites into Brett's neck and starts drinking his blood. All turns silent. The only thing Leo and Jessie can hear is Sabrina drinking blood from Brett's neck. As Sabrina drinks Brett's blood, she starts crying once again. Her entire body starts trembling because she's still hungry. Leo stands there in disbelief. He’s done something horrible. It was only a joke, but he can see now that Sabrina wasn’t lying about being a vampire.
"It's alright, Sabrina. You can drink more. I know that you're still hungry." Brett says to Sabrina to reassure her.
After several more minutes, Sabrina stops drinking Brett's blood. She stands up and wipes away the blood on her chin. Still crying, she curls up again in the corner of her bed. Brett uses a healing spell and heals himself.
"Do you believe Sabrina now?" Brett says with a serious tone.
Leo looks at Sabrina apologetically.
"How long have you been... a vampire?" Leo asks hesitantly.
"I’ve been a vampire since before mom adopted me," Sabrina says as she wipes away her tears.
"How did it happen? How did you turn into a vampire?" Jesse asks.
"There was this boy I was close with at the orphanage. He would always protect me from the older children. He rarely talked, but somehow, we became connected. Like we were meant to find each other somehow. It turned out that he had a secret. He was a vampire. Strangely enough, I wasn't scared of him. When it came time for him to be adopted, I became scared that he would leave me all alone. Our foster family was abusive. I was scared of what they would do to me. It turned out that the boy’s Master sent him to the orphanage to get close to me and gain my trust. But he never wanted to hurt me. He wanted to save me, but he couldn’t disobey his Master. He even confessed his love to me. I still insisted that he turn me into a vampire and search for him even if he hated me for it. In the end, I got my wish and he turned me into a vampire. However, he left the next morning and was never seen again. I hurt him terribly by asking him to turn me into a vampire. But I would still do the same thing again and again if I was born in a different life every time." Sabrina says, explaining her story to her brothers.
"Every single day, I thought about telling you about my secret. I knew that if I did tell you, you would be forced to live in a world without happiness. Then last year was the worst day of my life. I was out Christmas shopping with Natasha when a man with a gun attacked the store we were in. He was pointing the gun toward a little girl. My anger got the best of me and I killed the man. I saved all those people, but they found out about my secret in the process. So, I had no choice but to erase their memories of me, including Natasha's. That same year, I met Brett. At the time, I had switched off my humanity. I had condemned myself to die alone." Sabrina says, continuing her story.
Both Leo and Jesse look at Sabrina in shock when they hear that she wanted to die.
"What! You wanted to die?" Both Leo and Jesse say in unison.
"Yes. I'm not proud of it, but that was how I felt. It was the first time I had killed someone. Brett used every spell he knew on me. Before he used his last spell to finish me off, he saw how heartbroken I was and held me in his arms as I told him of my past with Jayden and the orphanage. Instead of killing me, he devoted his life to protecting me. Not long after I met Brett, we were attacked by another vampire. There had been rumors going around about animal attacks. That's when my true powers as a vampire emerged. My powers as a vampire have yet to awaken. The powers I have are someone else’s powers. The bracelet on my wrist holds an old and powerful vampire within it. Whenever I require her power, I tear off the cross on my bracelet. She merges with my body to enable her to fight. While she's in my body, her mind takes over. When her power is no longer needed, she returns the cross onto my bracelet. My father gave me this bracelet. I don't know why my father gave it to me, but I believe he wanted me to have it to keep the vampire who's sealed in it safe. This bracelet is the only thing I have of my father." Sabrina explains.
“Hahaha! I’m sorry. All I’ve been doing these last few weeks is crying. After all these years, I found Jayden at last, and the only thing I seem to do is push him away. It’s bad enough knowing that I turned one of my best friends into a vampire. Kason’s life is forever changed because of me. He can no longer live a normal human life. That’s why I was late getting home the other day. That’s why I need you two to protect mom and Lunette. If mom knew about this part of my life, she would worry about my safety, and Lunette is too young to understand what’s going on. I need you two to protect our family if it comes to a point where I have to leave and fight.” Sabrina says as she wipes away her tears.
“Of course, we’ll protect mom and Lunette. You have our word.” Jesse says with a confident smile.
