Nova never intended to be a hero. In fact, she barely considers herself a survivor. Haunted by a fractured past and the mysterious disappearance of her family, she's spent her life on the move, relying on her wits and instincts to stay one step ahead of those who would see her caged-or worse. But her quiet existence shatters the moment she stumbles upon the Fragment, an ancient artifact humming with forbidden power.Together, they uncover a prophecy older than time itself: a Codex that could rewrite the very fabric of their world. Pursued by relentless Enforcers and shadowy forces who will stop at nothing to claim the artifact, Nova and Cyn must forge uneasy alliances. From rogue fae warriors to vampires with shifting loyalties, their journey will take them deep into the Undercity and beyond, where danger and betrayal lurk around every corner. The line between allies and enemies blurs, and the weight of destiny presses heavily on their shoulders. In a world where power is the only currency, Nova and Cyn must decide how much they're willing to sacrifice to save a world that may already be lost.

Chapter 1: The Hunt
The city never slept, but it dreamed in circuits and shadows. Neon veins pulsed through the skyline, pumping a rhythm of life that never slowed. High above the chaos, drones zipped past skyscrapers, their blinking lights mimicking stars in the polluted sky. Below, in the tangled underbelly, the real magic simmered—raw, electric, and deadly. Nova sprinted down an alley, her breath ragged and heart pounding in sync with the pounding bass leaking from a nearby club. Behind her, the hum of pursuit was growing louder—mechanized footsteps, too steady to belong to anything human. “Dammit, dammit, dammit,” she muttered, clutching the slim black drive to her chest. It was still warm, buzzing faintly with encrypted magic, like it knew its contents were too dangerous for mortal hands. She risked a glance back and instantly regretted it. The thing chasing her wasn’t even trying to blend in. A synthetic amalgamation of muscle and machine, its glowing blue eyes fixed on her with the kind of focus that only came from programming. Corporate bounty hunter, she guessed—probably hired by Aetheris Corp. to recover what she’d stolen. Nova ducked into an abandoned subway station, her sneakers skidding on the slick floor. The air was thick with mildew and the faint hum of dormant ley lines. She shoved the drive into her jacket, fingers trembling. This wasn’t how tonight was supposed to go. One last job. That’s what she’d told herself. Just one more hack to pay off the rent, keep the lights on, and maybe buy a decent meal that didn’t come in a foil packet. But no one told her the data she was stealing would light her up like a beacon for every magical hunter in the city. As she stumbled deeper into the dark, she heard it: the sound of whispers threading through the air. They weren’t human, either. The ley lines here were ancient, older than the city itself, and their magic was restless. They knew her, recognized her like an old friend—or a thief. A sudden voice broke through the whispers, sharp and teasing. “You’re either brave or incredibly stupid to come down here.” Nova whirled, her fists clenched, ready to fight or run. A figure stepped out of the shadows, their face obscured by a hood. All she could see was the glint of a cybernetic eye and the faint shimmer of glyphs etched into their gloves. “Who the hell are you?” Nova demanded, trying to sound braver than she felt. The stranger chuckled. “Someone who can help. But first, you’re going to have to trust me. And trust, around here, is as rare as clean air.” The bounty hunter’s footsteps echoed closer. Nova’s fingers twitched toward the drive hidden in her jacket. She had no idea who this person was, but between the glowing-eyed nightmare behind her and the hooded wildcard in front of her, she didn’t have much of a choice. “Fine,” she said, her voice tight. “But if you screw me over, I’ll bury you in the ley lines myself.” The stranger’s smile widened. “Fair enough. Welcome to The Circuit.”
