William’s POV:
It’s been three days since Meg was taken, we have searched endlessly, swapping out groups, so we could rest in between. I haven’t been able to sleep, just had the odd naps here and there whilst out there looking for Meg. We had set a camp up at the edge of our border near to where the mountain is positioned, as none of us wanted to go back to the pack house. Martin and Rosemary came to help on the second day. Rosemary is helping keep an eye on the kids with Hollie back at the packhouse. David came with people from Firing Sun, as soon as he heard Meg had been taken and Roforlo brought some of his men too, from Ash Storm.
Loki was going berserk every time we would get a ‘no luck yet Alpha’ over the link, whenever we checked with other patrols. I was sat down near a river with Gregory, Diasy and four of the warriors from Firing Sun, taking a small rest before we headed out again. Every cave, every tree stump, every rock was turned inside out to see if there were any secret hiding places near them. We hadn’t seen one single rogue out there and with not marking Meg yet, I couldn’t feel if she was hurt. Loki assured me he would sense it if Lizzie was killed and he could sense she was still there, but with no power, we can only assume she had been sedated.
I screwed up and she is furious with me. I thought I was doing what was best for her. In fact, I know it was, everyone kept assuring me. The look in her eye when she turned away from me in the woods and then when she slammed the door in my face in her room, keeps playing over and over in my mind. If we find her, I will have some major making up to do. Hopefully, she won’t reject me on the spot!
‘WHEN’ Loki growled in my head. ‘WHEN we find her!’
‘Sorry, I hate this and I hate that she was hurt.’ I sighed to him and stood to my feet.
“Let’s carry on everyone”, I instructed them, we continued our search of the area on our map grid.
‘ALPHA! WE HAVE A ROGUE!’ A link roared through my mind from my Gammar Corey.
‘WHERE!’ I growled and in an instant Loki came forward and took over.
The others all followed me, we headed to my Gammar’s location. When we got there, he was holding onto a naked man, who had silver shackles on his wrists and legs. He had blood coming from his nose and was growling at Corey.
“Alpha!” Corey exclaimed as Loki didn’t slow down on his approach.
‘LOKI! We need him alive! We need to question him! He might know where Meg is!’ I screamed at him.
Loki pounced on the man and pinned him on the floor, growling and snarling in his face.
“Alpha would like you to tell us everything you know about a missing girl from our pack! Any other rogues that you know of in this area and any bases you know of out here!” Corey instructed him as Loki stared deeply into the man's eyes, baring his teeth at him menacingly.
“I HAVEN’T GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH IT! I SAW A GROUP THE OTHER NIGHT! I AVOIDED THEM!” The man screamed and Loki growled at him.
“Alpha would like to know which direction they went, how many and what they looked like!”
“I … I SAW THREE MEN, ONE CARRYING A WOMAN!” Loki growled at him harder “THEY WERE RUNNING TOWARDS THE END OF THE RIVER! HEADING TOWARDS THE SEA! THE WOMAN WAS UNCONSCIOUS!”
Loki dove off him and ran towards the river. He began following it down stream, with everyone else right behind him. Corey was following behind with the man and some guards, but they would have been along way back, with how fast Loki was running. Ellie, John, Charles, Xander and Phillip joined us when we got closer to the sea.
We searched the whole area again and again, but still no sign of anyone. Corey caught up to us with the rogue and Ellie grabbed the man around the neck.
“WHERE IS MY SISTER!” She roared in his face, her eyes flickering from her own to Danni’s.
“I don’t know I didn’t take her! They headed this way, I kept to myself. I didn’t see where she went! Please, I had nothing to do with it! I am just out here on my own.” The man sobbed and Ellie let go of him.
She looked around and stared at the ocean in front of us.
“She could be anywhere; they could have had a boat!” She growled lowly and sat down on the sand.
“Then we will get boats out there looking for her!” John growled and joined her.
“I doubt they would keep her out in the ocean, they would have traveled somewhere.” Charles added and kept looking out at the sea.
“She’s gone, she’s really gone.” Daisy sobbed into her father’s arms. Whilst Gregory linked me.
‘We will find her William.’ He said through gritted teeth.
I felt like the whole world had fallen on my shoulders. The exhaustion, the worry, the anger, not knowing where she was or how I could find her, hit me like a tonne of bricks. I let my knees give way and my eyes closed, I welcomed the darkness, I welcomed the emptiness.
“Meg” I sighed as I fell to the floor and all went silent.
