CHAPTER SEVEN:

William’s POV: I couldn’t sit still; I had snapped at everyone and so I took myself off to my office. I tried to focus on some paperwork, but Loki wouldn’t stop pestering me to go check on our mate. ‘Loki, she needs space, it’s been a lot for her to take in. We can speak to her tomorrow.’ I tried to reassure him. ‘She is of age now! I want MY MATE!’ he growled back and I pushed him to the back of my mind. I must have fallen asleep at some point as my Beta Gregory, Daisy’s father, knocked and came in, which caused me to jump awake. “Sorry Will, if I had known you had finally fallen asleep, I would have left you a bit.” He went to go back out of the door. “What is it?” I ask him, knowing he must have needed to tell me something. “The patrol had the whiff of rogues last night, they followed it, but they were long gone, they said they were on the route that Meg and Daisy take sometimes, so it’s probably for the best if we tell the girls in case, they go for a run this morning.” He sighed and poured a glass of water, placing it on my desk in front of me “Do you want me to tell Daisy to let Meg know?” “Yes please, she isn’t talking to me.” I sighed taking a drink. “She will come around, when she realises we had to keep it a secret for a reason.” He smiled at me. A knock tapped on the door and in walked Daisy. “Hi, oh, erm … I was hoping Meg was here talking to you, I came to give her support.” She said as she looked around. “Come on sweetheart let’s go get breakfast with the others.” Gregory told her and led her to the door. “Ye, she is probably down there already.” She told him and I called after her. “Is she not in her room?” “No, I went there first, she has probably gone to Xander and the others.” She smiled and walked out after her father. ‘Go for breakfast!’ Loki snapped at me. ‘I was just thinking the same, she can’t expect us not to walk around the pack. I won’t speak to her though unless she speaks to me. I don’t want her feeling pressured.’ I warned him as I left the office. “What do you mean?” I heard someone say loudly downstairs. “She isn’t up there either?” Xander’s voice bellowed out and then, he said “I will go find her, she has probably gone for a run” I ran down the stairs as fast as I could “Xander? Daisy? Where’s Meg?” both looked at me wide eyed. “Well like I said she wasn’t in her room and Xander has been waiting her for her to come down, in case she didn’t want to go into the dining room.” Daisy hurriedly explained. “She hasn’t come down here at all since 4am, Phillip was snoring and I have been down here reading.” Xander looked concerned. “When was the last time anyone has seen her?” I asked although a growl let out at the end as Loki was concerned. “I saw her last night in her room and then …” Daisy froze her eyes widened “Her bed was made this morning when I went in, but now I think about it, she must not have slept in it! She went for a run, said she couldn’t sleep, she has been out all night!” “WHAT!?” I roared and the house shook, Daisy whimpered and Xander’s own wolf came forward. “WHERE DID SHE RUN LAST NIGHT? THERE WERE ROGUES UP NEAR THE MOUNTAIN YOU TWO RUN ON!” “OH NO!” Daisy screamed and I bolted out of the door with Xander close behind me. As we jumped out of the packhouse, we both immediately shifted and headed towards the mountain, on the way I linked with the warriors on border patrol asking if they had seen her and then with Gregory telling him what had happened. “We already know, we are behind you.” He growled and sure enough multiple wolfs were running to us from the pack house. Ours and the visiting adults from the other two packs. Ellie was at the front of them and was by my side in seconds. We picked up Meg’s scent and followed it up the mountain, where her scent was smothered by the stench of rogues! Loki was furious! We kept trying to link with her and felt no connection, no one in the pack had seen her and the border patrol were searching all around the rest of the border, along with our warriors searching everywhere in the packlands. ‘IF ROGUES HAVE TOOK MY MATE, THEY WILL REGRET IT!’ He growled and Ellie was growling next to us. John changed into his human form and came to me; he had grabbed a dagger from a bag at the bottom of the mountain. He cut his palm open, I lifted my paw for him to cut open, creating a blood link so we could all talk to each other temporarily, he did the same with Charles who was now with us too. He chucked the dagger on the floor and changed back into his wolf. ‘William, do you know where they base themselves out there?’ John asked down the link. ‘No, we don’t bother them out there, just on our lands as normal.’ I answered as we looked over the area from the high advantage point we had. ‘If they have took Meg, we have every right to find her! Let’s spread out!’ Ellie commanded us all and Loki didn’t need telling twice.
