Isha's Pov.
My what?...
No, he must be joking…
My legs began to shake, not from the alcohol but from something else.
“I…I want,” I tried to find my voice but I couldn't.
Jason didn't move, he just sat down there watching me.. watching my every move with the evil smile that curled on his lips.
He knows exactly what he was doing and he is really enjoying this.
“You..want what?,” his voice was so smooth, no pressure as he kept staring at me.
I took a step back and before I knew it I missed my steps and almost fell, I held onto the metal beside me so tight.
“I want to leave,” my voice came out a little sharper than before.
He bent his head to the left, looking at me as if he wanted to solve me or maybe destroy me.
“You are free to leave,” he said with a grin on his face.
He knows exactly well that the door was locked and I can't leave.
“Unlock the door,” I hated how my voice was shaking. I hated how my body was betraying me. It was obvious my body wanted something else and my mind wanted a different thing.
I never imagined my night could turn out like this, after being betrayed by Alex.
I never imagined I would be locked up in a room with the most dangerous man in the city and my body does not seem to understand how it should be feeling right now.
Jason leaned forward slowly and the light shone on his face, I could finally see him clearly.
Jason Wilson was handsome in a way that made me nervous.
I have seen a lot of good looking men but Jason was exceptional.
His beauty knocked the breath out of me completely. Long dark hair that was slightly messy as though he had been running his hands in it. His lips looked curled and soft at the same time. His appearance didn't match his character in any way.
His dark eyes gazed at me like he was trying to penetrate my soul.
Okay, I was gazing at the wrong thing. It seems that I have forgotten that I'm being locked up here with him.
“You came in here yourself,” he said. “Won the game after dancing so beautifully well, so it's time to take your prize.” He gazed at the chair beside him. “Sit down.”
“No,”
I said immediately, not knowing what will happen to me after I have turned him down.
His eyebrows raised slightly. For a moment I thought I was already in trouble. It seems I have made matters worse.
“No?,” he repeated the words in his mouth as if he was not used to hearing that.
I tried to maintain myself by standing straight, I didn't want him to see me in my weak state.
“I just came here to have fun, and I won the game. I didn't know what the prize was, I just wanted to forget…” I stopped myself when I realized what I was about to say.
I couldn't start telling a stranger about my life most especially not the one that locked me up in a room.
“Forget about Alex,” he completed the statement.
I was so surprised, I had never met him before so how does he know about Alex?
I pressed myself hard against the wall trying to breathe normally.
“H..how do you know about Alex,” I tried to keep my voice steady.
“I make it a point to know everything I want to know.”
I hated the way my stomach flipped at that. Why was I even here? I won't have come out to dance in the first place.
“What do you want from me?” A shiver racked through my bones.
He didn't answer immediately, instead he stood up and started making his way towards my direction.
I pressed harder against the wall.
“I know that you are here because he is with your sister and you don't want to be alone and that is why you found yourself in my club. Isn't that right Isha?.”
My heart stopped. “H.how do you know my name,”
Did I just ask that?
Stupid Isha; It was obvious, since he knows Alex, he definitely knows me too.
He smiled then and it was the most terrifying smile I have seen tonight.
“You are shivering.”
He was close now, close enough to know how tall he was just by looking up to him. I could smell him and his scent was really drawing me to him.
“Stay away from me,” I tried to sound strong but it came out so light.
Jason didn't move an inch. Instead he looked at me straight in my eyes and said, “I have already seen it in your eyes Isha,” his voice was low, dark causing warmth to pool at the bottom of my stomach.
Why was I so turned on by the sight of this stranger? Why was I not running despite knowing that he is dangerous?
He continued, “They are full of hurt, I wanted to see the rest of you.”
My mouth opened but no sound came in.
I moved back until I hit the wall behind me, “I have heard about you,” my voice was shaking. “The things people say…”
“From the rumors, I'm not surprised.” he cut me off.
He lifted his hands from his pocket slowly, I knew exactly what he was trying to do.
He brought his fingers towards my face.
Immediately I heard a loud crash from outside. A sound that could actually wake a sleeping person up.
I noticed how Jason's whole body reacted to the sound all of a sudden, the smile he had on his face earlier disappeared which was now replaced with anger.
“What was that sound?” I asked, trying to look around me.
He kept quiet but his whole body was rigid as he turned to the direction of the door, listening.
Another crash sounded again but this time it was louder than before and closer, like it was coming towards our direction.
I started hearing people shouting..
Jason's hand dropped from my face, he stepped away from me and had his focus on whatever that was happening outside.
“Stay here and do not make a sound.” His voice had changed. It wasn't calm like before but now it's commanding.
“What's going on, you are not saying anything and you expect me to remain calm?” I moved away from the wall, my fear started shifting into confusion.
“I said stay here, Isha.”
“You can't just tell—”
The door opened immediately.
A man burst in, breathing so hard. His face was full of blood and his shirt was already torn.
“Sir, we..we have a situation. The club—everything—there’s—” he stopped when he saw me.
“Get out.” Jason's expression turned cold.
“But sir, we—”
“I said get out!” Jason's voice became louder than before.
The man ran out immediately without wasting much time, slamming the door behind him.
My whole body was shaking now, no one was telling me anything. “What's going on? Are we safe? Are we going to die? What—”
“There's a fire,” Jason finally said as he turned to look at me.
“What?,” the fear I had in me doubled.
“But how?, where—” I started asking questions that didn't matter.
Jason moved towards a close place I didn't notice before and pressed something. A hidden or maybe secret passage opened revealing a staircase.
“We can't possibly be going down there, we need to help those outside. We need—,”
“We need to leave. Now.” He said as he grabbed my arm, he held me tight but wasn't painful.
I removed my arm from his. “I'm not going anywhere with you until you tell me what is going on.”
Jason turned to look at me and for the first time tonight I noticed how scared he was.
“Someone set the fire on purpose, Isha and whoever did it locked the main exit first, so we need to actually leave now.” His hand reached for me again. “And I need to know exactly who did that but first I need to keep you safe.”
Keep me safe? His words kept ringing in my head.
Jason's hand held me tight again and this time he wasn't letting me go. “You can argue with me later, when we are out of this place.
He pulled me towards the staircase, I couldn't even feel my legs as I tried to match up with his pace.
We kept moving until I started perceiving the smell of smoke.
We reached the end of the staircase and Jason opened a metal door that reviewed outside.
Finally…
I could smell the cool breeze…
We were outside.
My legs had already given out as I squatted on the ground. I was really tired to move an inch again.
Sirens started wailing from a distance and from the sound it was close to us.
Jason was on his phone, barking and giving orders to someone. His tone was harsh, controlling.
People were still running out of the building from different directions. I could feel the fears in their voices.
So this was real. I was so scared that I might have lost my life tonight.
Jason ended his call and turned his direction to me. His eyes scanned me like he was checking for injuries.
“Are you hurt, are you ok?”
I nodded my head, not able to say a word.
He came closer to me. I should have moved back but my legs have really given out. I just sat there. He removed his jacket and placed them on me.
“Good, I want you to do something for me, Isha.”
My heart started pounding in my chest. What exactly does he want again? “What—”
“Be my wife.”
The world stopped moving in my eyes.
What just happened…No he must be joking.
Or maybe the smoke must have affected him.
This is not time to play games.
“What?” The word came out of my mouth.
Jason brought his hand to my chin, lifting my face so I could look straight into his eyes.
“Marry me,” he said again. His dark eyes locked into mine. “Tonight.”
