Chapter 1: All Hell Breaks Loose

1038 Words
Destiny’s Point Of View I am laying in my bed unmoving with very little care for myself. As my blue eyes just stare blankly at the wall in my room. I have no idea what my mom is planning. I don’t even hear when she walks in my room. “Destiny honey you need to get in the shower and pack what you need cause this is not continuing your going to stay with a friend of mine. And he will be here in five hours to get you,” My mom Evalynn says. I roll my eyes but get up slowly and head to the shower looking miserable like I want to just lay in bed and rot for hours not moving. I turn on the shower and force myself to climb in. I wash my hair and body before getting out and dry off putting on the clean clothes my mom brought me. Then I head to my room and my bags are packed by my mom and she drags me out of my room to the living room. She makes me sit on the couch and wait for this friend of hers that I have never met. I am clearly not stoked for this but I don’t get a say into this. “This will help you Destiny,” my mom says. I don’t respond I just think to myself that this ain’t gonna work for me. I just sit there blankly unfeeling and unmoving. My long lashes don’t even flutter an inch. Hours later. There is a soft knock on the front door. My mom jumps up but I don’t even flinch. I just stare blankly. My mom heads to answer the door while my grip on my bag tightens. Once my mom answers the door it’s all over. “Hey there Evalynn,” the man says. “Hey Jake she is in the living room,” my mom says. “Okay well everything is ready for her at my place in LA,” Jake says. “Okay she is ready we just need to load her up,” my mom says. Jake nods and walks into the living room. He walks in his posture non-threatening. “Hey Destiny, my name is Jake,” he says to me with a soft therapist-like voice. I just stare blankly not amused by the voice he has. My mom looks worried as I don’t even acknowledge Jake. “Your mom has called me for you to come live with me for a while to see if this will help your mental state,” Jake says. My mom grabs the bag from my hand and carries it to Jakes car. Jake motions for me to follow him to his car. I stand up and follow because I have to. Jake opens the passenger side door of the car for me. Then he heads around the car to get in the driver’s side. My mom gives me one last hug before I get in and buckle up for the long drive back to LA. So this is the last time that I will see my mom for a while. I look out the window and watch the world past by in a flash. “It’s beautiful,” I say for the first time in a while. “Yeah it is,” Jake says slightly shocked that I spoke. “Thanks for doing this,” I say quietly. “No problem sweetie I know your mom needed this and so do you,” Jake says. “So I am Destiny,” I say with my voice gentle. “Yeah your mom filled me in on what is going on with you and you don’t have to tell me what is going on but just know that I hope this helps you,” Jake says. I nod and go back to look out the window at the passing world. I have always loved watching the world pass by when driving on the highway cause you can see a lot of different sights. This will be my first time in LA. “So the weather is very warm out in LA,” I say it more like a statement then a question. “Yeah it is,” Jake says. I nod and lean back in the seat letting the sun that is becoming more frequent warm my skin. “So I like music a lot,” I say. “That’s what your mom was saying and funny thing is I am in a band,” Jake says. “Ooh you’ll have to tell me more when we get to LA,” I say. Jake nods and the next leg of the car ride is silent. I am slightly more relaxed than I have been in a while. Eventually after a few hours of driving we stop at a gas station to fuel up and etc. I head into use the bathroom while Jake gets gas and snacks for us to eat on the next leg of the trip. I grab us some drinks after I use the bathroom. I take them to Jake and he buys them along with the snacks and gas. Once he pays we head to the car and he starts pumping the gas and I get into the trunk to grab something from my bag. After I grab my blanket and we get back on the road we are about three hours outside of LA. I am sipping my drink and eating one of my snacks my blanket wrapped around me. The drive is going by very fast. Three hours later. We are inside the LA city limits and now the drive is just getting to his house. This is the shortest leg of the drive seeing as we are in the state of LA now. I am calm but feeling even better with the sun on my skin. This might be the best choice that my mom has ever made for me. I relax into the seat of the car soaking up the sun. I love this even if I won’t admit it. I think I am gonna like this more then I even know. So yeah.
