Iris Pov
"Who is the father of the child?"
I hesitated. "You. You are the father of the child."
"How is that possible?" He asked.
I turned to look at him. "You don't remember?"
He looked stunned, an eyebrow raised but didn't reply.
"You don't remember the night you got home drunk? You forced me to lie with you, I tried to explain but you kept calling me her name."
"What name?" He asked.
"Tracy."
He was beginning to recall that night, and I could tell that from the look on his face. "You should have resisted me." He said, like it was as easy as it meant.
"Resisted?" I scoffed. What is he thinking? That I didn't want to resist him at first? "Resisted is an understatement, Your majesty. You didn't let me go when I wanted to. I pleaded with you but you didn't listen to me. I tried." Tears had already rolled out of my eyes.
"You said I shouldn't let you go, because I remind you of her."
He felt guilty. "I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't have done what I did. It wasn't my intention, I wasn't myself at that time." He apologized.
"What will they say of me when they find out that I'm carrying your child? How will I explain myself to them?" I asked as the thoughts seemed to be my main problem.
"I'll make it up to you. For now, you don't have to worry about what they will say. I'll talk to Ms. Felicia to let you stop your duty for the meantime until you deliver, how about it?"
"Whatever decision Your Majesty makes, that I will follow." I felt a bit relaxed at his words. Since he was the one giving the authority, I was less bothered about Ms. Felicia at the moment. If not, I would be holding my chest to think of a way to avoid her maltreatment.
"You can go now. Call Ms. Felicia when you get downstairs."
I left the room, my heart could feel its rightful place, and I could feel my breath steady and calm. I went to Ms. Felicia's office to call her as requested. She looked at me like she was staring at the devil himself.
"His majesty wants to see you, Ms. Felicia." I informed.
She stood up, walking towards me. "Look here, Miss West, I don't know what you told the alpha king, but I'll tell you, you aren't escaping this." She threatened me
I looked away from her gaze while she walked past me, heading to the alpha's room.
I left to the garden to stay. The wind was blowing perfectly well on my skin. I touched my stomach, exhaling heavily. I wasn't prepared for this moment, I wasn't prepared to become a mother. But here I am, heading towards the path of motherhood.
What can I do?
I sat there for what seemed like an hour, I was loving the cool atmosphere and I didn't want to leave this place for any reason. A maid came to call me, she looked stressed out. From the way she breathed, I guess she's been running to find me.
"Iris, Ms. Felicia wants to see you." She informed me.
"Ms. Felicia?"
"Yes."
Urgh! Not again.
"Okay. I'm right behind you." I stood up, trailing behind her.
We got to Ms. Felicia's office, the girl left while I offered a knock on the door. "Come in." I heard her say from the inside.
I gently opened the door, stepping in. "You called me."
"Yes, I did." She left what she was doing to look at me. "I have spoken with the alpha. He suggested I should let you be for the meantime. But know this, Miss West, once you give birth, you are returning to your duty immediately."
I nodded my head.
"I'll show you to your room. Don't get too excited, like I said, it's only for the meantime. You're lucky to have such an understanding king, if not, I wonder what you could have been doing by now." Despite how she tries to act normal, her voice still held the harsh intonation.
"Follow me." I followed her while she led the way. We got to a door, she fixed the key into the keyhole before pushing the door open. The room though wasn't looking quite furnished, but it was a lot better than the maiden room.
"Get your things here." With those last few words, she left me.
I walked in, glaring around the room. It looks be better than none.
I would go to the maiden room to get my stuff, then take it up to my new room to drop them. It wasn't so stressful for me as I had only a few things I called my own.
The weather slowly grew dark, the sky was heavy with lots of water in it. It's gonna rain so heavily. I had to shut the windows close before it started raining. While shutting the window, I saw Alpha Kristen leave the building to his car. He was going out.
I went to lie on the bed, recalling Ms. Felicia's words. "You're lucky to have such an understanding king, if not, I wonder what you could have been doing by now."
You know, Ms. Felicia is right about that. For the first time I'll give her a credit for that. I wasn't expecting Alpha Kristen to show me such a level of kindness, I mean, who would? First, they'll deny ever having f****d you, then they'll call you weird names that makes you look like your'e the bad guy. As if that isn't enough, they'll throw you out with your unborn child to suffer this miserable world alone.
The rain began to fall, the weather was becoming colder every minute. I placed the duvet around my body, to avoid catching cold. The rain was so heavy that it was beating hard against the windows and wall.
A knock came on the door. "Who's that?" I asked but got another knock in reply. I got to the door and asked again. "Who is …?"
"It's me Alpha Kristen."
What's he doing here?
I opened the door, staring at the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Those hazel blue eyes caught my attention and I couldn't resist looking at them. They felt like life, and a feeling that I would die if I stopped gazing at them.
He was soaked wet from the heavy rain. His hairs glued to his face and I could see the hidden beauty he possessed. I was so lost that I didn't realize how long I've been staring at him.
"Miss West?" He called my name in the best way no one has ever called me. "Can I come in?"
