953 Words
Seating on her chair facing the desk with piles of textbooks and notes. Kaede is surely doing her best to improve her grades. These past several days. Kaede doesn’t have much time to use to play her video games. It's been a week since the Hunting event ended and she still didn’t know what is the reward she got from the event. “Yosh~ Another three lessons and I can lay on my bed o catch some sleep.” Kaede said and hold her pen. She does her best despite her eyes nearly giving up while answering some mathematical questions. Thanks to Chiharu’s effort. Kaede survive and passed her retakes. Even though she got a passing grade. That score is still not acceptable. Out of 100 she just gets 75. Just one point and she is done. That’s mainly the reason she’s burning herself up with studying. Kaede knows that indulging herself now will be a bad thing. Especially to a girl without parents or guardians supporting her. Her parents before they died. Left money for Kaede. The money was plenty enough for Kaede to survive ten years. But Kaede knows that money can run out. There is no such thing as unlimited resources. She is starting to invest in stocks online to further support herself. With her investment, she can earn enough money for herself. She is planning to be a NEET gamer streamer, but she gives up on it because she doesn’t really know that she’s likable. Having a diploma is a great way to find a job when she became an adult. That’s what she believes in. Right at this moment, no one can really tell if this girl is a plain dumb or smart girl. She’s definitely off the balance. After finishing her homework and reviewing some of the lessons. She jumps on her bed. “I can finally fell asleep.” Kaede muttered closing her eyes. But… After three hours. “What’s happening I can’t fell asleep?” She then tries many sleeping positions but still failed to fall asleep. She looks skeptical and has a blank face. She get’s her smartphone and searches online. “Mister Google answer my question… What is the best way to fell asleep.” I didn’t know there’s is many ways to fell asleep naturally. Let's see… Let's see… “Creating a consistent sleeping pattern… Thinking about it I don’t have a pattern on sleeping. I just sleep when I feel tired. Second, keep the lights off… Hmmm… I already do that. Next one, Avoid napping in the afternoon. Well, Yuki always does it… I did it sometimes too… get some exercise.” Kaede knew that she never tried to jog in the morning or the idea of exercise. “... Avoid using smartphones… Crap, I’m using it right now! It's unavoidable at this moment.” Scrolling downward. “... Avoid caffeine. I don’t drink anything through… Next one…” The night continues while Kaede reads the article on how to fell asleep and before she knew it is already one hour passed. Turning her glance at the clock. The clock was at 3:20 AM. Almost 5 hours left before school. Kaede was in panic and she rolls her body over and over again to the bed. On her head, she got a bright idea. “Maybe, I should call Yuki… I guess, not maybe she is sleeping peacefully. Still, I can’t fell asleep…” Kaede used her phone and calls Yuki. Yuki’s phone rings waking up Yuki. Still, her eye’s closed. Yuki answered the phone call. “Who is it calling early in the morning?” “Us me Kaede…” “Kaede? Why did you call? Do you know what time it is?” “Ummm… Yup, but I have a problem.” “What is it?” “I can’t sleep.” “...” Yuki was skeptical and hang up the phone. She turns the phone into airplane mode afterward. “Yuki… Yuki… Yuki… Maybe I pissed her off. I should apologize later in school. Still, I want to sleep. I want to sleep. I know maybe counting sheep and drinking milk will do the trick.” Kaede gets up and goes to the kitchen. She gets a glass of milk and drinks it. Afterward, she goes straight to her room to count sheep. While she is on her way back to her room. The light bulb got broken and the lights went off. All Kaede sees in her vision was darkness. “What should I do? What should I do? I should get my smartphone for light.” While searching her phone on her bed. She accidentally crashes her head to the wall. The crash is critical but not deadly. It's unfortunate, but it made Kaede’s wish came true. She fell on her bed sleeping. More likely knocked out by herself. … Later in school. “What happened o you Kaede? What’s with that bandage on your forehead?” Yuki asked. “Well, the accident happened.” “Eh? Is it about last night? I’m sorry I’m unable to help you! Are you in great danger last night?” “Nope, nothing dangerous. Well, it's embarrassing to tell what happened but it's all good now.” Kaede grinned.
