Seneca
It's a couple of weeks before Easter. And I decided to go into town today to do some shopping for it. My oldest brothers both have little boys. Dice's little boy is three, and Circus's little boy is a year old. Since I don't yet have kids of my own to spoil rotten on holidays, I spoil my nephews.
I also have Dad's birthday this weekend, so I need to pick up his present. So today, I'm heading to Nanna and Paps' house so that I can grab my car. I had planned to stop by the dinner for lunch and then go shopping. I needed to do some grocery shopping while I was out today, so I grabbed both of my big coolers as well as my reusable bags.
After putting my bags in one of my coolers, I take them both down and put them in my boat. Then I go back up and grab my purse, phone, keys, and the bag of trash that I have. After locking the front door to my house, I look over to where Ragnar and Mystic are sitting.
"I'm heading out to go to town. If you're both staying here, watch the house. If you're going with me, let's go," I tell my ravens. I know that they can't understand me, but sometimes it really seems like they do. I know it's probably crazy as well to talk to animals, but who else am I going to talk to out here?
I walk down the dock, put the bag of trash in the boat, and tuck my purse in the cubby. I get back off the boat and untie it from the dock, and then jump back in. Before I can start it up or move, Ragnar lands on my shoulder. I guess he's going with me, and Mystic is staying here. Of course Octavius is already in the boat.
Once I'm settled in the boat, I start it up and back out of my spot. Once I'm clear from the dock, I put it in forward and take off towards Pap and Nanna's house.
I love the drive to get there. It's so peaceful and quiet. There are so many cypress trees in the water. A lot of them are below the water, but out along the sides, there are some as well. Cypress trees are protected down here, and you can get fined a big fine if you're caught cutting them down. Especially if it's on public property.
A couple of my tables in my house are made from them. But it was ones that had fallen down, and we found them. Dad used them to build the furniture for me. It's such a beautiful wood, and the furniture looks so amazing. I love it all. I even have some of the lumber from the trees still. I just have to figure out what to do with it now. I'm thinking that I'll save it and use it to build a baby bed one day. It would make a beautiful baby bed.
It didn't take long to get to Nanna's house. When I get close, I slow my boat down and get ready to dock. Ragnar is squawking to me. I'm sure that he wants to hang out around the Tarot shop today. He loves to go to town, but seems to hate most people. So he sits back there at his little house and spends the day with Nanna and Mom when I have to run errands. Mystic usually always stays at the house.
When I got the boat closer to the dock, I saw Pap and a couple of the Mc guys outside by the driveway. When Pap heard me coming, he started to walk towards the dock. So when I pulled in, he was there to help me tie the boat to the dock.
Once the boat was shut down and tied up, I stepped off the boat and into Pap's arms. I squeezed him tight before I let go of him.
"Good morning, sweet girl. How are you doing today? Nanna said that you had today and tomorrow off, so I didn't think that I'd see you for a couple of days." Pap told me.
"Yeah, I've got the day off, but I need to run some errands. I'm going to drop Ragnar off at the shop and then stop by the dinner for some food before going shopping. Easter is coming up, so I need to get stuff to make baskets for the nephews. I also need to go to the grocery store. And I gotta go buy dad a birthday present. I figured that I'd get everything done today so that I could work on other stuff at the house tomorrow." I told him.
"Well, I've not got anything to do this morning. How about if I join my favorite granddaughter for breakfast? We've not spent much time together lately. I'd love to spend some time with you if it's ok." Pap said.
"I'm your only granddaughter, Pap. And I'd love to have breakfast with you. You know that I love spending time with you. Just let me grab my purse and my reusable bags out of the boat." I told him.
I stepped back into the boat to grab my stuff and as I did, I could hear Octavius bitching like always.
"Gotta go shopping again and deal with more damn people. I don't know why you can't just get a husband and stay home like women are supposed to. Back in my day..." he grumbled.
"Yeah, yeah, Octavius, I know. Back in your day, women stayed home and took care of the house and popped out kids left and right. This isn't back in your day; this is my day. Now hush, please." I told him.
I handed the bag of trash to Pap, and he took it to the garbage bin. I then grabbed my purse from the cubby, my bags from the cooler, and my keys from the switch. I lifted my skirts and stepped back up on the dock, and headed for Pap. After dealing with the trash, he went to tell the guys that he was going to breakfast with me. Since they were in the driveway, I would walk right past them to get to my car.
When I went to walk past them, I saw that Onyx, Storm, and Midnight were all standing there. Pap wasn't part of the club, but spent a lot of time there because of my family. So it wasn't unusual for him to be hanging out with the guys. He did go to school with a few of them as well.
Onyx reached out to me and pulled me to him, and picked me up off the ground to give me a big bear hug. From the time that I was little, I have always called him Pappa. I couldn't say Onyx, so I just started calling him Pappa. He was more than ok with it since he had six kids and only one of them was a girl.
"Come here, beautiful. You're a sight for sore eyes, you know that. We've missed you. You stopped coming around, and it's been forever since we've seen you. You're coming this weekend for your dad's birthday party, right?" He asked me.
"I've missed you to Pappa. Hello Storm, Midnight. It's nice to see you both again. I'm sorry that I've not been around Pappa. I've been busy. Between work and college, I don't do much else. I'm working on two degrees with two minors for the one degree. So when I'm not working at Tarot, I'm at home doing school work. The girls and I get together a couple of times a month for a few hours, or they'll come stay with me. Other than that, I make a trip once a week to town to the grocery store. Mom told me about Dad's party. I have the night off, so I'm going to try to make it. I've got a big test coming up and I've been studying for it. But I'm going to try. I'm actually going to pick up his present today while I'm out today." I told him.
"I sure do hope that you come for it, and I know that your dad would love to see you there. Everyone would, actually. Kayden said that he was going to breakfast with you. Do you mind if I tag along? I've missed you, girly," he said.
"I don't mind at all, Pappa," I told him. He turned to talk to Storm for a minute, and I told Pap that I was going to go put my stuff in my car. Hopefully, Ragnar and Octavius both got in as well. They were both getting on my nerves. Octavius with his bitching and Ragnar with his squawking.
When I got to my SUV, I hit the button on my keys to unlock it. As I went to open the door, a milk chocolate arm reached past me and opened it for me.
"Thank you, Midnight," I said.
"Midnight, really? What the hell happened to Night Night? You were the only one that was allowed to call me that. And now not only do you not call me that, but you ignore me as well. I've not seen you or spoken to you in five years, Tiny Tot. I thought that I was your best friend, and then you just ghosted me. You wouldn't answer my calls or texts. You stopped coming to the clubhouse. What the f**k? And if I recall correctly, the last time that I saw you was the last time that we went to the diner for dinner. After that, I didn't see you again. Why?" he asked me with a pissed off look on his face.
I tossed my stuff in the car and then turned to him.
"Really, MIDNIGHT! I didn't think that you would notice that I wasn't around. After all, before that night, it had been months since we had hung out. And that night after we left the dinner, you told me that you couldn't hang out with me anymore. All because your little b***h of a girlfriend didn't like you hanging out with me and you agreed not to anymore. Yeah, I heard everything that you said on the phone to her that night. So you got your wish, and I stopped bugging you or going around you. I left you alone so that she could have you all to herself and you weren't saddled with a baby. Not only that, but as long as I wasn't around you, I wasn't around her. And if I wasn't around her, then I didn't have to deal with bullying from not only her but the other girls of the club. I've been so much happier since I stopped going around the club. And I'm not about to be pulled back into drama again. So if you're still with her, stay the hell away from me." I said lowly to him so that no one else heard me.
Out loud, I yelled to Pap and Pappa and told them that I'd meet them at the diner. I had to drop Ragnar off with Mom first. Then I jumped into my car, put my seatbelt on, started it up, and left.
I was so damn mad at Midnight right now. I can't believe that he was trying to put this all on me for staying away. What a d**k. I really hope that he doesn't show up to the diner.
I can't deal with him anymore today.
