A girl's secret

Chapter 3

Long ago before any kingdom was formed before any king rained before wars were made what is now China was divided into 7 great clans. The spirit clan (Jīngshén shìzú ), the lotus clan (Liánhuā shìzú ), the claw clan (Zhǎo shìzú ), the moon clan (Yuèliàng shìzú ), the flying daggers clan (Fēixíng bǐshǒu shìzú ) and the lightning clan (Shǎndiàn shìzú ). The seven clan each had their on special gift that made them unique one way or the other. The spirit clan had a connection with spirits such as no other person could have. The lotus was able to use magic to their advantage. The claw clan could imitate any animal they wanted and even take a form of it. The moon clan could control the sun’s or moon’s power. The flying daggers clan could manipulate any weapon or material made for weapons. Lastly the lightning clan were able to manipulate the weather and any element that consist of it. But how did it all started? How did they started processing such great power? There are many myths but the one to be the most used is this one.

Once upon trillions of years ago there existed a couple they were alone without knowing if there was any other human. They put upon themselves to continue the human kind, however they couldn't seem to have a healthy child each single one of them was killed at birth or after some days. They prayed to god to help them. They prayed to each one of them but none replied to their calls. Then something came 7 dark shadowed being came. They were disfigured and weird some of them they didn’t even have two eyes or one mouth. They said they heard their cries and that they wanted to help. They said they would even give each one a gift and be the god parent for each one of the children born out of the woman.

The couple was overjoyed they immediately agreed to the deal. And so they chanted a poem before leaving.

As the sun sets and as the moon rise

As the night falls and as the day goes

You humans will lay 8 days and 8 nights

Till the full moon will rise

In that time your bodies will be connected

And no rest will come upon you

Body and mind will be put to the test

And what ever happens your bound should not break

Rain will come and with it thunder too

The witches and beast will also narrow too.

Animals will come and claw your house

Like the spirits hunting you down.

Lastly a war will happen outside

A sword will pears your bodies

But no death will come to take you.

And as the 8 night will come to an end

In you womb 8 little ones will be made

And that’s what happened for 8 days they stayed in their tent. Not leaving even if rain and thunder fell. Even if witches came laughing and casting spells outside, if the spirits screamed in agony or whispered in malefic way. Not even when beasts and animals scratched their home.

The 8 night passed and finally the sun rose up from behind the trees. The couple came out of their tent but saw nothing. As the weeks passed the female belly grew and grew becoming as big as a bag of coconuts. And then the final night came and the birthing began. The screams started echoing through the night but the night was long and so was the birth finally just before the dawn the last child was born and everything became calm, 8 babies lied in a bed sleeping soundly. Then the figures came back for them to be godparents as promised with their gifts at hand. The mother took the kids near their new godparents for them to give their presents.

One gave the thunder, another gave a book, another two necklace made by the sun and moon, the next gave a dagger, and other a claw, a flute was given a to the next and to the last a fruit. The parents thanked the creatures for all their gifts and said their goodbyes. Each one of the gifts were different and each one unique.

As the years passed each one of the children mastered the magic in their gift and became powerful leaders who conquered the country, the gifts where lost in time but the magic existed in them and the rest of their family. Some didn’t make it, others blended in and the rest became guardians of our world swears to protect everyone from anything and ready to sacrifice their lives.
