Gigi I stand in the clearing, my heart racing with a mix of excitement and nervousness as I hold the gun in my hands. It's my first time learning to shoot, and the weight of the weapon feels heavy. Next to me stands Roger, whose presence is both reassuring and terrifying. I listen intently as he explains the basics of handling the gun, emphasizing safety and precision above all else. I try to steady my trembling hands as I focus on the target in the distance, a small bullseye painted on a wooden board. With each word of guidance from him, I feel a glimmer of confidence growing within me. However, it is soon shattered when I feel the growing churn at the pit of my stomach. Within a moment, i throw the pistol onto the ground and exclaim, “i can't do it!” Roger immediately comes forth, trying to calm me down. “That’s okay, Miss Genevive. We can try later.” After the unsuccessful attempt to learn to shoot, it's time for the next task to perform. I am now entering a social club where so many people are gathered around. Roger remains by my side, and he has a few security guards following him closely. The club seems dimly lit with red lights flickering across, and everyone is dressed in black. Leather jackets, polo shirts, and three piece tuxedos, they speak wealth and luxury. Tons of bottles of expensive champagnes are placed on the private tables, and waiters move across the tables accordingly. Old and young men smoking cigars, having almost naked women in their laps as they play chess and other games. It almost seems like a whole new world with weapons, and the smell around the room flickers with danger. “Come -“Roger takes my hand as he explains to me not to talk to any stranger unless he tells me to. I stick around him and we arrive at the last table where two men are already sitting back, half drunk. “This is Pedro -” Roger closely whispers to me, and the man sitting on the couch lifts his eyes to look at me. “Mmm, Knights. Where is your boss?” he speaks in his unfamiliar deep voice and Roger immediately utters, “Well, this woman can be trusted. She is the second in command.” as we take our seats, the man who just sniffles the white powder as he crouches down to the table, i cant help but look at roger in disbelief. “Well, what do you like to have? There's wine…champagne…drugs?” Pedro refers to me and I simply shake my head, confidently responding, “I dont have time for this s**t. Tell me about the offer you wanted to discuss with Alex.” crossing my left leg onto my right, I believe I look sophisticated in a blazer. Narrowing his eyebrows, he grins at me before he utters, “This one is feisty, I like that -” After a moment, he gestures to his secretary, who arrives with the documents and hands them to me. Being unfamiliar with such professional documents, I quickly let Roger read them before I could maintain my usual self. Roger informs me about the documents and asks me to make my decision and I sit there dumbfounded. In a whisper, I ask Roger about his decision, and he tells me to negotiate. “Well, I would like to reconsider,” I say, and Pedro gives me a single nod as he rises and turns to walk away before he remarks, “You know where to find me.” Roger and I are walking out of the private section, and I bump into a handsome man who is tall and has green eyes. “Well, excuse you, pretty lady.” Realising that I have been staring at his alluring figure for the past two seconds, I immediately clear my throat, pulling myself back from him. He offers his hand, and I remain paralyzed in my place until he refers to Roger, “Alex Knight…where is he?” Roger, even the gentleman takes a deep sigh and responds calmly, “Well, he is out of town.” The handsome stranger gives him one single nod before he turns his attention back to me. “And this pretty lady -” he waits for Roger for the introduction, and I exclaim, my tone carries grace and composure. “I am the second in command. You don’t have to know my name.” With this being said, I turn to walk away with Roger closely following me. As we exit the social club, Roger and I hop into the car and, taking long deep breaths, I softly utter, “My God! What was all that?” Roger can’t help but chuckle lightly towards me as he tries to explain to me that being involved in the mafia is not an easy task. “Then what am I doing here, Roger?” he reminds me that I am looking out for my brother, meanwhile, he is gone, and I understand. “Who was that guy in the end?” I ask him, recalling the handsome face of that older businessman who appeared before me in the end, and Roger informs me that he is one of the rivals. “His name is Jade Jenkins.” Arriving back home, I watch my mother sitting on a couch in the living room and ask me if I enjoyed my day. Only if I could tell her about the gang members I just met. Roger gets an invitation from Jade Jenkins, who is throwing a huge party, and I am invited. “But why do I have to go?” Sitting with him in the study room, I throw a question at him, and he rolls his eyes, explaining to me that my presence might be important. “I can see that Jade Jenkins is intrigued by your presence. Perhaps we can get something out of him.” Roger is also becoming frustrated by the unnecessary questions that I often ask him, but I don't want to get in trouble. “Let me arrange a dress for you,” he says before leaving. Sitting alone in the study room, I think of Alex and if he might be alive. I really hope he is because I cannot handle all this without him. He needs to come back and look after the mess he has created.
