Gigi In the middle of the empty street, as i continue to run and those men chase me, I find myself completely vulnerable at this moment. I want to get rid of them, escape them and every passing second they are approaching closer and closer. My breaths are high, there is no energy left in my body and running barefoot I also get pricked by something on the road. With a hiss, i suddenly fall onto the ground, panting hard. They appear closer, towering above me as the surroundings me completely. There is no one to save me and I surrender, my eyes closed and my heart thumping loudly into my ears. Then the sound of a gunshot echoes around me, leaving me to flinch. As soon as I open my eyes after several gunshots, the men are lying dead on the ground. Looking around, I see no one and finding the opportunity to escape, I quickly get back on my feet, stumbling as soon as I hear a familiar voice, my body becomes frozen. “Genevieve -” the hair on my body rises in fear, sweat beading upon my forehead, and I have no energy to turn around and face him. I know for sure that my stalker has arrived. To my surprise, a shadow appears from the front, approaching me, and each step makes my heart skip a beat. I can feel my skin crawling as the shadow appears closer and closer, revealing its terrifying self. My eyes are widened with fear, astonishment lingering on my face. My lips are turning white, and my face is becoming pale. “You -” I murmur. Feeling like my voice is stuck at the back of my throat, a lump forming there. His sharp gaze is wandering around my lips, moving further towards my neck. “Did you miss me, pretty bird?” his voice is dangerously low, a little more hoarse than it usually is. Perhaps he is a little exhausted. “Alex -” I utter. After a brief pause, I continue to ask him, “Where have you been?” he reaches out to bring his hand closer to my shoulder, caressing my skin softly. His touch sends shivers down my spine, and I feel my body starting to produce heat. At this point, I choose to ignore this strange feeling. And with a clear throat, I say, “Let’s go home. Mom is waiting for you.” Just when he parts his lips to speak, Roger rushes towards us, panting hard. Followed by a few familiar faces, he looks towards me, then at Alex with a surprised look on his face. “Sir -” he speaks, the look on his face gives me the idea that he wasn’t expecting Alex to meet here with me. “Roger, where are the cars?” I command, and Roger immediately speaks through the transceiver and within a moment, a few cars arrive. Alex tucks his hand into his pocket, a playful grin covering his lips. The way he is staring at me is making me uncomfortable, and he doesn't usually do this. To change his attention, I deliberately brought up the topic of his girlfriend. “Tiffany has been worried about you. Let me inform her -” I watch his eyebrows frown in confusion as he inquires, “Who?” I am left stranded when I realise that this man has already forgotten about his girlfriend. Sitting in the car next to him, I find his behaviour strange. He is constantly prancing his leg, and the Alex I know doesn't do this. In fact, he is the one to hates all these unusual habits. Soon, the car stops with a screech at the driveway, and one of the guards opens the door for me. To my surprise, Alex drags himself to my side and hops out. I exchange a look with Roger, realising that he is also the one to find this weird. However, none of us says anything. Entering the mansion with Alex, I see my mother is lying exhausted on the couch with her nurse by her side. Frowning in confusion, I hurried towards her, calling out to her. “Mom!” She slowly opens her eyes and takes one look at me. “Mom, are you alright?” She gives me a nod and turns her attention to Alex. I watch him standing blank, then he inquires, “What happened to her?” I scowl, unaware, wondering if he has lost a part of his memory or if he is pretending to not know my mother’s condition. “You need to rest. We can have this discussion in the morning.” I say before I throw a gesture at the nurse to take my mother back into her room. Upon entering my room, I take a look at myself in the mirror, realising that my whole look has been messed up. My hair is a mess, my makeup has smudged, and wrinkles appear on my dress. With a deep sigh, I walk into the washroom to take a shower. Just as when I open the tap, the water cascades down my body, washing away all the exhaustion. However, my mind is still stuck with Alex and his changed behaviour. I am certain that something might have happened to him when he was kidnapped, and I need to know everything about it. I also have to confront him about his involvement in the underworld. Just when I step out of the washroom wrapped in a towel, I am lost in my own thoughts before I sit in front of the mirror. Looking at the unexpected reflection behind me, I almost jumped as I became startled. My eyes are wide with astonishment, and my body is becoming paralyzed. His sharp gaze falls upon me, and I exclaim, “You! Alex, what happened to your manners?” In return, he only grins; his smirk is not playful, however, it carries a hint of danger, lust, and passion. My breath hitches when he approaches me, and crouching down to match my height, he slowly whispers, “Perhaps you should lock the doors at night, Genevieve.” his words send a shiver down my spine. It almost seems like a warning and his voice is strangely familiar, I can’t excatly put my finger on it.
