His pretty eyes.
Laura walked to the gate and opened it. It wasn't a huge one but something to at least put everyone in order. She greeted the few people she saw outside and then noticed that there were two cars parked outside. Her parents were there back then. She looked excited to want to meet them but then stopped.
They only had one car so why were there two instead? Did her mom buy another one or was she the owner of this? Her mind was running wild as she stared at the Benz.
Nah, this was too expensive.
Either way, she rushed in but stopped suddenly when she saw someone wearing a black leather coat in the sitting room. She couldn't see his face properly because he had his back turned against her. So she tried to get a proper view as she walked up the shelf. The man did her a favor by turning around and their eyes locked.
Laura could have sworn that she almost felt dizzy when their eyes met. The man waited patiently for her to come into view and when she finally did, he eyed her up with a mysterious expression—mysterious to Laura.
Laura had never seen this person around but he looked somewhat familiar. His hair was long, his gaze was piercing and his face looked ethereal. How was this possible?
Laura didn't feel a bit embarrassed that she was checking out a stranger. Well, probably because the stranger had no problem with it because he was also staring at her.
It was the laughter that was coming from upstairs that drifted her back into reality as she looked at the staircase, only to see her parents holding each other's hands. Her mother was surprised to see her and smiled.
"Laura, you are back." She said that, and her teenage daughter went to hug them. She received a kiss on her forehead from both of them as she breathed in their warmth—the reassurance that she was loved more than anything else in the world.
"I missed you." She mumbled.
"Aww, we missed you too, princess. It was just a three-day journey but it felt like months, especially with this state of insecurity going on in town. Come and sit down." George, her dad, pulled her along to the sitting room.
George was in his late fifties, while his wife was in her late forties too. Even though they were aging, they were doing so backward. They aged like fine wine. This was what gave Laura the confidence that she had their genes and was definitely going to look the best.
She sat in their middle, facing the stranger who couldn't stop staring at her. Finally, he looked at the parents for an explanation—an introduction was the right word.
Maria smiled and touched her daughter's back frequently as she spoke.
"I don't know if you still remember him. You have met him quite a few times in the past but seeing as things have evolved, you're likely to have forgotten about him. This is Alpha Josh of the Ture Pack." She introduced him with a smile and Laura's heart skipped a beat as she took a better look at him.
He was the one! Her Crush! The man who gave her sleepless nights turned her into a poet for a few months because of how crazy and obsessed she was with him. No wonder he looked familiar and that was because they had simply met.
He was hot! Handsome! Good-looking!
"Alpha Josh, this is little Laura."
Laura frowned and pushed her mom's hand away. "Stop it, mom. I am not little anymore." She mumbled and they laughed at how cute her pout was.
Josh was also smiling brightly, revealing his perfect white teeth as he looked at her.
"Good to see you again, Laura. You have really grown and I am glad to see you again. How have studies been?" He asked.
Laura cleared her throat to reply confidently but she failed woefully and this was because she was nervous.
"I…I…it was good, thanks." She replied shortly.
"Why don't you join us for dinner, Alpha Josh? We can discuss whatever it is over dinner." George was invited and Josh accepted the request.
While having dinner, Laura couldn't help but steal glances at George as he discussed it with her father in a serious mode. His Adam apple would move whenever he ate, drank, or was saying something.
Even his serious look was to die for; his hair was soft—it looked soft. She wanted to run her fingers through it to at least feel what it was like. Laura had different wild thoughts within her as her affection grew stronger and stronger.
She reached out for her glass of water and was taking a sip when Josh briefly locked eyes with her and smiled before looking back at her father. She nearly choked. He had pretty eyes, and she cried in her heart.
What would make a man look this flawless?
Everything else they were saying at the table was none of her business because she wasn't paying anymore until they were done eating and she packed the dirty dishes to the kitchen. She didn't know Josh was following right behind her so when she turned suddenly, she collided with him.
"Ouch, I am sorry," Josh said. He was taller than her so when he spoke, it was like a voice from heaven. She had to look up at him and she finally got the closest view of his magnificent face.
"Are you okay? I didn't see you coming." He said it again while still holding her gaze. She lowered hers and blinked numerously as she tried to calm her overhyped heart. She took a few steps back.
"Yes, I am okay. Thank you." She quickly excused herself while Josh watched her leave with a tinge of amusement in his eyes. She had grown into a beautiful lady but she still had those characteristics that he was used to seeing in her years ago.
It didn't take long after that for Josh to leave. Laura was sad and she folded her arms as she pouted. So the car wasn't for her but for her imagination.
When her parents got back in, she finally had the chance to speak with them.
"Where did you meet him?"
Maria sat down and crossed her legs. "We were also surprised to see him. He finished his masters already and arrived yesterday so we invited him over tonight just to welcome him. Also, he would be taking the rank of Alpha. So it makes sense that he does come home." She replied to her daughter.
"Oh, I see. Anyway, something happened this morning..."
"Yeah, we heard about it, child."
"But what are we supposed to do, Dad? This is getting more complicated. Is the council not willing to do anything regarding this?" She asked.
"They will. We need to give them more time, okay, sweetheart? They will definitely come up with something. Just know that you aren't allowed to go out once it's seven p.m." George instructed and Laura nodded in agreement. After seeing today's atrocity, she wouldn't dare question her parents' love for her.
When she was done with her conversation, she rushed to her room to fantasize more about the gorgeous-looking Josh that she had met today and hoped that there would be more opportunities to meet again.
