We met again.
A young lady got out of her shop and shut the door. It was already late in the night - eleven pm. She looked around her vicinity carefully; there were a few people still outside. So she decided to make her way home at night. She had unintentionally waited this late because of something very important and now that she was late, she would have preferred to stay at the shop. However, she had kids at home that were waiting for her. They had already called her and she assured them that she was coming as she was on her way.
"Are you leaving now? It's already late. Don't you want to wait until tomorrow? You know how dangerous it is to walk this late, don't you?" An older woman was scolded.
"I would have loved to stay, but the kids are waiting at home. So I have no choice but to leave."
Despite the persuasive words and gentle reminders, the woman continued her journey home. She took a cab with her heart in her mouth. She only started feeling a bit safe when she realized that she was getting closer to her neighborhood, but all of a sudden, the car started malfunctioning, so the driver had to stop. This jolted her senses as she looked at the driver and then at her surroundings.
"What is wrong, driver? Why did you stop?" She asked him. The driver ignited the engine but it still didn't work and he sighed heavily.
"The car broke down. Please, you have to come down so I can repair it or at least check what is wrong with the car." The driver pleaded. The woman shook her head vehemently.
"I don't think I need to come down. You can start fixing the car while I stay in here." She replied to the driver. The man nodded and got out of the car. He started working on it as he was slightly concerned that it was already nighttime. So he understood her worries.
The woman was biting her fingers as she looked outside the window. They were on the local bridge and no cars were coming to and fro as well. They were lonely and there were no houses around them. The closest was still some distance from them.
While overthinking about her state, she pulled out her phone and sent a text to her husband and children saying that she was almost home but was stranded at the bridge because the car had been stolen. Her husband volunteered to come and pick her up, which she so much appreciated.
By the time she was done chatting, she noticed that something was off. She couldn't sense the driver anywhere. Her eyes widened as she bent her head to get a view of her front but there was no movement at all. The torchlight he was using was on the ground as well.
"Driver?" She called softly but got no response. Her heart skipped a beat.
"Driver?" The answer was still the same—no response was given.
So she nervously pushed the door open and stuck her head out. She rushed out to the front, where the flashlight was and looked around eagerly. No, this was stupid and a trick. She turned around and was about to enter the car but what she saw scared her. She gasped and her legs immediately turned to jelly and became weak.
She took steps back as her predator approached her in slow and steady steps. The woman couldn't bear it anymore; even in the middle of the night, the predator's eyes were as sharp as a sword that could pierce through the soul of a person.
She turned around and ran while shouting for help but the predator was faster than she was. The predator jumped on her from behind, sinking its teeth into her fleshy neck and bringing her down with its weight. The predator stepped on her tightly while making sure that its prey was lifeless before making any move.
Then did it drag the prey down to the bridge underneath it to relish the taste?

Laura got to school as it was the beginning of a new term and it was great for the last students of the school. It was already winter season and the rain had chosen to show forth its powers anytime without giving forewarning.
Students were either holding their umbrellas of different colors or wearing their raincoats. Laura had both to double-shield her. Immediately after she stepped into the building, she headed to her locker first to put her things inside and get the most important thing for the day.
She met a classmate of hers when she got there.
"Hi, Leo." She waved.
Leo looked up from his textbook and returned her greeting with a smile, his faint dimples showing to give him a good look. Leo was 6'1 while she was 5'8, her perfect height for a man. Leo had almost what she wanted in a man: he was strong, fierce, had a masculine look, was handsome, brilliant, smart, calm, and only got angry when needed. He was a huge supporter of what was good, was always involved in community service, and was even part of the Pack's army. He joined when he was just about to turn twelve, making him the youngest of the pack's army back then.
So she had always admired him. To be sincere, she had a crush on him but it was a simple crush because someone else was already her height. However, she concluded that if he wasn't available anymore, then she could set her heart on Leo, who was bad at hiding the fact that he had a crush on her too.
"How was the holiday?" Laura asked as she pressed in her code, opened the locker, and arranged her things in it. Leo nodded positively.
"It was good. I had fun discovering some new things about myself."
"Cool." Laura smiled without sparing him a glance. Leo nodded again and stole a glance at her once in a while, nervously, while thinking about what to say next.
"Yours?"
"Huh?" Laura looked at him.
"How was yours?" He repeated.
"It was great; thank you. Kyla kept me company throughout, lol."
Leo smiled and shut his locker.
"Hey, what's up, people?" Kyla appeared from nowhere with a silly smile to disrupt the awkward moment between them. She got around and placed her hand on her friend's shoulders.
"Good morning." She waved.
"Good morning." They replied simultaneously.
*Was I interrupting something perfect ongoing?" Kyla teased and got glared at by Laura which made her laugh and made Leo slightly embarrassed.
"I will see you girls in class." He said. Leo forced a smile and took his leave quickly.
"Awwwn, the poor guy is shy. I love it when the alpha-looking guys are shy - it is always such a wonderful and memorable thing because it only happens once in their lifetime but look at you, missus. You already made him shy more than I can remember."
Laura rolled her eyes and closed her locker afterward. They started heading to the class.
"Well, aren't you the one to take all the praise?" Laura replied.
"I don't know why you keep rejecting him when it's obvious he has a deep interest in you."
"Did he tell you that he asked me out and I refused to acknowledge his request?"
"Well, will you ever answer positively if he does ask you out?"
Laura became speechless regarding that so Kyle changed the subject and became more serious.
"Did you hear about what happened around midnight? The talk has been all over the town."
"What happened?" Laura asked curiously. Kyla looked around carefully before whispering.
"They struck again but this time it was only an omen." Laura's eyes widened in shock.
"What?"
