The year 2021 was a very special one for me: Mystery Tribune ventured into book publishing and released its first mystery book, a debut amateur sleuth novel titled “Freedom Drop” by Brian Silverman.
Brian is an extremely talented author: he wrote his first mystery short story after 20+ years of working as a journalist and sent it Mystery Tribune in 2017. When we read his story, we knew we held something special in our hands. We accepted that story (the piece was titled Breadfruit) and that piece eventually made it into Best American Mystery Short Stories series later that year.
We were fortunate enough to publish more of Brian's stories through the years and he went on to become an Edgar-nominated author. When the opportunity arose to publish his debut mystery novel, we immediately said yes.
In a way, Mystery Tribune magazine was the reason we came across Brian's work and discovered the work of this great author. Personally, the joy and satisfaction I feel when I read the works of such talented authors is what motivates me to dedicate my time to Mystery Tribune.
I'm sure more of our authors and contributors will become rising stars in the mystery field in the coming years: they're all that good.
And now few words about Issue #16: We have a brand-new piece by Brendan DuBois that's just great. John Floyd's short story titled Crockett’s Pond is definitely a must-read and we also recommend you checking out the interview with Curtis Ippolito. As always, we also have some stunning photography collections as well as deep dives into new and notable novels and comics titles.
Once again thanks for being a loyal supporter of Mystery Tribune: please spread the word about us and give your friends and family the gift of #goodmystery by buying subscriptions for them.
