All the graduating students formed a line waiting below the podium waiting for the instruction it has been about a year since the school had come somewhat clean on its current standing if the world.
It made zero sense why the information was off limit in this region.
The students lined up in perfect order wondering who the mystery guest was. About a year ago one of Cade's powerhouse Mech fighters were invited to give an encouraging speech.
The speech about how they were the futures and how they were born to explore the universe was all jeering and fun. Leaving out way too many details.
A speech so cliche that Main powerhouses would laugh.
It was exactly what the students needed.
The anticipation on the faces of the students grew; the teachers on the other hand felt the most anxious while only a few were aware.
Today was not for encourage meant. It was an early examination and talent testing. It was locally broadcasted that it would take place any day of the week and today was there.
Various university leaders arrived but only from a few surrounding towns were to judge the students and the so-called mystery guest expected was a neutral judge.
Tyana walked onto the stage it had been a while since she was invited by a school to be a neutral judge.
She was not fond of small towns like these, keeping people in the dark was probably a favourite of their council. Her presence was only because the school director saved her friend's life and there was the least they could do.
As a top-tier Elemental it was not so hard for her to give a prep talk.
The students who had been anxious grew excited as soon as they saw the lady Tyana thought he had not had a lot of info about a year ago they did so much research on current powerhouses they had access to.
Facing the eager expression of the students Tyana found it hard to speak, No amount of prep talk spoke of the truth, Unlike big cities, they were relatively shut out. She remembered she was once like them.
Of course, the real world stunned them.
Whatever it is they knew were mostly sugar-coated lies. Sometimes Tyana felt they were some sort of experimental study. Like sugar, it could kill.
" Good afternoon young seedlings, I believe you all know why we are here " Even though she was sure they did not.
" Today you all will be taking various tests to find out your talent some of you had found out over the holiday while some have not.
This is where all your training has brought you.
Here we will determine the extent of your talent and training. "
The students felt scared at the thought of failure.
" Now you do not need to fear, no matter how high or low your talent is or where you go from here. What matters is your hard work and luck.
I would know as I was once in your shoes with a score of less than ninety talent. I had to endure years of practice and hard work just to be where I am today.
Countless people like me have surpassed those with high talent but there is also countless high talent who become a great powerhouse. "
" Once you cross the level 1 threshold you can venture into the world to defeat monsters and protect the earth from danger. As future realm breakers defending the earth. You are all protectors." She encouraged.
She held a silent prayer in her heart to hope she was not sending them all to their doom. Though she knew if they did not protect themselves. The monster knew no difference between ordinary people and realm breakers.
" You are all to move to the hall for talent testing. Give it your all this moment defines you."
Watching the powerhouse leave the student guessed the assessment would be held now.
Their heart was filled with the courage that this day would propel them as soon their name would ring through the solar system.
The principal of Darmin high knew how the result would go after all they had constantly monitored the progress of the students. He had also given a few names of untapped talents to the representatives.
Lana scratched her head as Diane kept pulling on her arm and jumping. Diane looked so excited one could feel the only thing keeping her on the ground was her attachment to Lana's arm.
" Ane, if you pull on my arm any longer it might come off then you will fly to the sky and you would not want to miss the test"
Diane released her arm immediately and grumbled. " Ugh... We both know your arm cannot pop off you aren't a doll. Like really though how can you not be excited? We would soon be like those on tv. Soon I will pilot huge mechs, punch monsters and save princes."
This was the typical dream of every girl and boy. They all wanted to be heroes.
"Am excited. Like extreme " she said. " Am just better at hiding my emotions. We need to be calm to achieve a good talent score." Lana said placing her hands in Diane's own.
" Also we have practised hard," Diane said calming her unsettled heart down.
" We have also done the test a year ago and since it has been a year we definitely should be a genius or special" She smiled.
It was not a bad thing to be a special or genius.
They got special treatment and attention. So they had more resources to grow.
Secondly, they were literally like celebrities being greeted and getting cheaper things.
' Currying for a favour' Was what it was called.
Thirdly, the geniuses got stronger than everyone except Selds.
While it all seemed perfect the only disadvantage was they were placed under high surveillance by organizations' that either supported them or were against them.
Lana had read a few journals which exposed that organizations' eliminated those that could be a threat in the nearest future.
This just proved to be under the spotlight was not all that bad but it left no path to retreat.
The excessive journals she got from her parent and the hidden articles on fallen realm breakers whose talent shone so bright they got shot out of the sky,
Made her sceptical about being a genius so early.
Being a Seld was not on her mind.
She would bank on her cautious instinct that Diane says was like a faulty switch. To stay not too far but not too deep in the spotlight.
" Ane, remember the book at the library " Dark blanket," Lana asked.
" Yeah why " Diane wondered why Lana asked about the book she remembered neither of them liked it due to its tragic ending.
" would you like to read it again" Her eyebrows raised?
" Eww... No way "
Diane was not shocked by her answer her surprise would be that Lana wanted to read it.
" I was asking because the male lead was a genius who had rare powers and was a burning star gaining immense strength everywhere he went but was also under high surveillance. So no matter how hard he tried to hide his progress he was discovered until he was finally stripped of his power and killed."
' great' Diane thought. She was sure Lana was about to remind her of something important and she was not going to like it.
" I remember "
" I think if the story was a little bit true do you think it would be nice to be a genius or a special? You won't be able to hide when you want to. Your association with an unnecessary organization will be dangerous. Of course, if you feel it is no big deal remember you have to do exactly what they want. No one gives a free gift. " Lana said.
She decided to add more " They can't take care of you for no reason"
Lana's words made Diane's heart sink, she had also read the articles Lana's parents had brought for Lana. No one was so nice to help someone.
The test had begun.
The test was in different stages. The first stage was strength: it consist of weight lifting, punching and rock throwing.
The test reminded her of threw cavemen animation she once saw.
Each of them lined up according to their number. They were called on after the other into the hall.
" First stage"
" No 1" The loud voice resonated through the hall.
A short-haired blonde girl walked onto the field. Delaying was seen as insolence.
Her stature was small yet steady but she had incredible brute strength which they all knew as half of the class had been beaten by her when they mocked her best friend.
Lana liked her style.
Lifting a rock of 100kg she threw it about 500 meters, she walked towards the 300kg rock her hand placed by the side she lifted it and threw it away.
about 400meters
She lifted a 500kg rock and threw it some ten meters away from the 400 kg rock.
She moved towards the punch reader and threw a punch onto it with her left hand.
745 power reading.
She threw another punch with her right hand,
789 power reading.
Such difference was to be expected as her right hand was her most used arm.
Next was weight lifting. It might sound the same as rock throwing but there was a major difference.
It was harder to throw the rocks the heavier they got so rock throwing showed the control of their excessive strength.
She lifted a 700 kg rock above her head and gently put it down and stood still knowing it was the highest she could go.
Tyana was glad she knew her limits to the students they wondered why she was not showing off but the representatives admired her decision she knew how to conserve her stamina to be very efficient.
Her display of intelligence put her into consideration as long as she passed the other test she had gained a spot in their university.
"No 2"
" humph..mhph.." Lana was super tired from the thought that they were to stand all day. This was exhausting their strength. She wondered how expected to perform well like this.
She leaned on Diane complaining " Ane I am so damn tired "
Diane knew it was going to come to this she was not going to wonder how her friend became tired when they had only stood for less than an hour.
" Let's sit on the ground and pretend we are meditating "
" Won't people stare, I don't want to look weird?" Lana said.
" Nope but falling asleep on my shoulders and being all shaky is worse.
She pulled Lana down to sit on the ground. They picked a meditative pose with Lana's head resting on her shoulders.
Diane figured if Lana was to have a hidden ability it would be sleeping.
A pity Diane was unaware of the sleep art a meditating technique or she would be sure that was what Lana practised.
Time passed, and a large number of people had passed through the first stage only less than ten people stood in front of them. Lana opened her eyes had she had only been half asleep. The mantra her parents gave her strengthened her consciousness.
No2 was strong but tried to show off so bad she only passed the section of the strength stage.
Her test was a reminder to all those who felt it was some completion on who had the prettiest throw.
The rest of the students that had done the test completed all sections with average strength except Amper who had waist-length hair and Janet.
Their strength was the bottom of barrel worthy, they were incredibly weak but they had an advantage in speed so no one in school looked down on them.
Diane turned her head and looked at Lana.
Seeing she was awake she pushed her head off her shoulder and began to stretch. Lana also did the same thing Diane was doing. Lana noticed the line had gotten shorter.
' Oh no!'
Knowing it would soon be her turn Lana hoped none of the representatives saw her well if they did she hoped they had no problem with her sleeping.
Lana was right to be worried but she was completely overlooked by the representatives. They did not put a big taboo on sleeping as long as the results were amazing.
Tyana on the other hand noticed how she had used the other girl's shoulder as a pillow. Yet the other girl paid no attention to it.
Her guess was they were probably friends. In the world of Realm breakers friendship was very fragile built on boundaries of what to gain and power.
She hoped their friendship would last.
The world had never been so kind to good friends either 300 years ago or the present time.
Something always went wrong.
