Chapter 14

Sam pov

We returned to Chicago almost a week ago. I go back to work. Dylan and Natalie are in the summer break and they spend a lot of time together. They bond every day more and more. It’s perfect and I couldn’t ask for anything else. My mother, for now, stays in London. We talk every night and she shines. I have had to see her like that since my dad died. Well if that Zack makes her smile like that is enough for me. I can focus more on me and Natalie. I want so much to be official but I’m afraid that she will say that is too soon. But I know what I want in my life. And that’s her and me. Dylan and a few other kids run around the house. At work today was calm. It’s so few days that they’re not crazy. I finish and I drive to my old house to pick up some mine and Dylan's last things. I decided to keep it for now and if my mother stays for good in London I will sell it or rent it. I park outside and go inside. I take the stuff and put them in my car. I drive home and I park the car. I see outside a car that I don’t recognize. I walk inside and open the front door.

“Guys I’m home,” I say

“In the living room,” I hear Natalie say. Strange every day she comes to the door and kisses me. I walk to the living room and inside I see on the couch Natalie hugging Dylan and on the other couch a woman that reminds me of someone.

“Hi, Samy,” she says and stands up with a smile. Only one woman calls me like that. What the f**k she is doing here? She comes closer and tries to hug me but I put my hands to stop her.

“What do you want Sarah?” She frowns not expecting to talk to her like that. And then she takes the usual innocent look. But I don’t bite it anymore.

“I miss you. Both of you. I’m sorry for everything, I want to be a family again.” She says and I look hurt in Natalie’s eyes. No way, Sarah will not ruin my life again.

“We have never been a family Sarah. You left, you never wanted kids. What change now?”

“I’m sorry. I was young and afraid”

“I was young too. But I stay to rice, my son.” I look at Dylan and Natalie. Natalie has the same expression and Dylan is angry.

“If Dylan wants to give a chance I won’t stop him. But not cross your mind that I want you back”

“But..”

“There’s no but. I love Natalie. And your return doesn’t change anything. If you won't be part of Dylan’s life he will decide that. If you remember I have a paper that you give all the rights about Dylan.” Her face is pale. She didn’t expect that. She was the seducer back at school. And she always takes what she wants but not me not now.

“Dylan?” I say and look at him. He hugs Natalie more not letting her go. I smile.

“I don’t know. I love being with Natalie”

“But I’m your mother” Sarah yells. Not a good move.

“You remember that now?” Dylan asks

“I’m your mother, not her,” she says still angry. She moves closer to Dylan. Natalie stands up and puts Dylan behind her.

“Listen I don’t know what is that you want. But this is my and Sam's house. Not yours. So lower your voice and don’t talk to Dylan in that tone again. Maybe you give birth to him but that does not give you the right to talk to him like that.” I smile proudly

“He is my son”

“You have no right over him. If he wants you in his life is a decision that he will take not you, not us. And I’m sure with that attitude you’re not going to make him accept you” Natalie says and I smile. Sarah breathes fast and hard.

“You can leave now Sarah. Give me your number and if Dylan wants to see you again I will bring him to you” I walk her outside and she comes on me. I push her back

“We can be a family now. She can’t give you what I’m giving you”

“She gives me more than you ever give me. I don’t know why you are here Sarah and I don’t care. If you want Dylan in your life fine. But forget me and that family thing you have in your mind. I have family and you will not ruin it” I say with a little threatening tone. She gives me a weak smile she writes to a paper her number and she walks away. I don’t like that. After all these years she comes back. And I don’t think is back because of Dylan. I walk back inside and I hear Natalie talk to Dylan.

“I don’t want her. I want you. You are my mom” says Dylan and I smile

“D it’s your choice ok? If you want to have a relationship with her I don’t mind. I know that you love me, I don’t want you to think of me ok? You will do whatever you like. Even if you decide to accept her in your life you will not lose me”

“You promise?”

“I promise. No one and I mean to them no one will ever break me apart from you and your dad” I enter the living room and I smile at the theme. They smile too

“Everything ok?” I ask

“Yes, Dad. You?”

“I’m great. What’s for lunch?” I say and they laugh. We sat down to eat and our conversation was about us. Sarah is not coming up on the chat. The rest of the day was quiet and calm. After dinner I help Natalie clean the kitchen then Natalie goes with Dylan to put him on the bed. Every night he wants Natalie to go to the bedroom with him. She happily goes with him and says to him good night with a kiss.

I’m in the shower and thinking about Natalie’s beautiful face. Suddenly I feel two soft hands hug me from behind.

“Do you want company?” Natalie asks and I feel myself resting her head on my back.

“For your company always,” I say and I turn around and hug her. We stay like that for a while.

“I love the feeling when you hug me.” She says hold me closer

“I know. I wish we could stay like that forever” I say kissing her head

“Mmmm”

“I love you, Natalie. I don’t want to stress about anything. She will not break us” she sighs. I make her look at me and I put my finger on her chin

“I mean it, baby girl. That I say to her it’s true. If Dylan wants her in his life I'm ok. But that’s it. I have you and I’m not leaving you for anyone. Ok?” She nods

“I love you too Sam. I don’t want to lose you” She starts crying

“Now that I find you. I can let you go” I wipe her tears and then I cup her face.

“I’m not going anywhere. I never felt for her what I feel for you. I told you if Dylan wants to know her it’s fine. But I not leaving you. You are mine and I’m yours, remember?” She nods

“Always and forever,” she says and I smile

“That right. Always and forever” I say and I kiss her hard. Hungry and desperate. Like I will lose her if I don’t. I push her on the shower wall and she gasps. I continue attacking her with kisses.
