Chapter 13

Natalie pov

We are in London and Dylan is super excited that he saw his grandma. So and Sam. He is very happy that the treatment goes very well. Sam and Evelyn are together now in the hospital and Dylan and I are for a walk in the city.

“Are you having fun D?” I ask him as we are in a cafe downtown.

“I always have a good time with you, Nat. You don’t have to ask” I smile and play with his hair.

“Stop that,” he says and we laugh. He is drinking his chocolate and I take a cappuccino.

“Your mom is amazing Nat. Just like you.”

“Thanks, D. Yeah she is great. I love her” he smiles looking at me.

“I love you, Nat.”

“I love you too D,” I say and I hug him.

“So do you want something else for your bedroom? I can buy new bed sheets with Star Wars that you like”

“No, it’s fine Nat. You don’t have to. You already have done everything.”

“Well I can take them as a birthday present”

“It’s in a month my birthday,” he says

“Drink your chocolate, we are going to the mall. We can go take some paintbrushes that I want. Next, there is a*****e with bedroom stuff. We will find bed sheets there”

“Nat”

“I want to take them ok?” I say with a serious tone

“Nat...Thank you for making me and my dad happy. He loves you so much. It’s the first time in my life that I see him so happy all the time. He smiles all the time. Well, he was happy before seeing me healthy and good. But now it’s different. He has everything. So and I. I missed a person in my life that I consider a mother. And I see you like that.” I smile and I hug him.

“I love you both so much. You complete my life.” I say and my eyes watered. I try to hold back my tears but what he says next to me makes them run down my cheeks.

“Can I call you mummy from now on?” He asks as he rests his head on my chest and I caress his hair. I cup his face looking at him. He wipes my tears. I smile and he smiles too.

“Sure. I will be thrilled. I will be proud to have a son like you” and we hug again.

“You will do more kids and you will be proud of all our family” My God how lucky I am. Later we go to the mall and for lunch return to my mom’s house. My mom and Andrew have a meeting so Dylan and I take care of the food. In one hour everyone is in the house. They go to the room to freshen up and Dylan fixes the table. I served the food.

“Mmmm. Smells so good” Andrew says and all agree.

“Dylan and I make a good team,” I say and I smile at Dylan. Sam and Evelyn talk about the appointment with the doctor. Andrew and mom, they don’t say much. They had meetings at work and they didn’t want to tell us boring things. So my mom asks about Sam and Dylan moving into the house.

“Yes, Mom she helps me with the decoration. She has so good taste” Dylan says and everyone froze on the table. Oh, we forget to tell them about Dylan calling me mom.

“Who did Dylan call mom,” Sam asks looking around

“Nat. I ask her if I can call her mom. And she says yes” I see Sam looking at me and after a while, he smiles.

“That's true?” He asks me

“Of course. Dylan never lies”

“I know it’s just...” he smiles not knowing what to say

“That’s great news. Dylan couldn’t have a better mom. Don’t you agree?” Evelyn says looking at my mom, Andrew, and then Sam.

“Yes. Dylan is such a good kid. I am proud of you Natalie.” I smile at my mom. We continue to chat and after dessert and washing the dishes I go with Dylan to his guest room to sleep and then to mine and Sam’s room. I open the door and I see him already in bed just going out of the shower.

“He slept?” he asks from the bed.

“Yes. After the shower, he lay in bed and immediately fell asleep” I walk to the bathroom, take off my clothes, and step in the shower. When I finish I put on my PJs and go to bed. Sam when he sees me opens his arms and I go between them. I rest my head on his chest and he kisses it.

“You are wonderful. You know that?” I look my head up to look at him.

“I just do what I’m feeling. Dylan is a great kid and I love him. I’ll be lucky if he calls me mom. I hope not to disappoint him or you”

“You don’t have to do anything more. Just continue to do what you do and he will be happy. As for me, you accept a single dad in your life with the goods and the bars. I’m more than happy for that” We stay like that for a while until we start kissing passionately. After two rounds with fell asleep. The next morning we have breakfast and then Dylan, Sam, and I go for a tour of the city. Mom and Andrew go to work and Evelyn has a date. Yes, a date with one of Andrew's friends. Sam, was a little skeptical at first but now he can do and mush. Evelyn is still young and soon we hope healthy so he can’t tell her what to do.

After a day touring London, we return to the house. We eat dinner with everyone including Evelyn's new boyfriend Zack. He is a cardiologist, he is a family friend of Andrew, and the brother Evelyn’s doctor. He is late fifty as Evelyn. She looks happy and a good psychologist is good for the treatment.

“Stop looking at him like that Sam. He is making your mom happy. That should be enough for you” I say for the third time.

“It’s just..”

“Your dad will want your mom to be happy. I’m sure he has a special place in Evelyn’s heart. But she is still young. You and Dylan start a new life with me. She can’t stay alone.” He sighs and looks at his mom laughing at something Zack said.

“You are right.” He stands up and goes to the other couch where Evelyn sits. They talk and hug. Finally... I smile and Dylan comes and sits beside me.

“Grandma is staying here now?” He asks little sad. I pass my hand around his shoulders

“Do you want her to be happy?”

“Yeah, I guess. I love Grandma I want her to be happy. But I’m going to miss her. How you can live away from your mom?” I sigh. Yeah, I miss her a lot.

“I miss her every day. I wish every single day my mom be with me when I’m happy and when I’m sad. But when I talk to her every night and I hear her happy when she is here with Andrew I don’t ask anything else.” I caress his hair.

“If your grandma decides to stay here we have to support her and accept it. I know it will be hard. I have known her for a while now and I going to miss her too. But if she is ok here we have to be happy for her. Zack is a good man. He will take care of her” I say and he looks at Evelyn. He smiles and then he looks at me.

“You are right. If she is happy we can’t stop her. She takes care of us all these years. Now it’s her chance to have someone else take care of her” he hugs me

“Thanks, mummy,” he says, and then he stands up and walks to Evelyn and Sam. They hugged and Evelyn looked at me and she mouthed to me ‘Thank you’

I smile and go to the kitchen for a glass of water. While I’m drinking I feel two hands hug me from behind. I love when he does that. I put the glass down and I put my head back on his chest.

“How can I be so lucky and met a wonderful, amazing, and beautiful person like you”

“Well, I guess you are sooo lucky,” I say and I laugh turning around. I hug by his waist and I rest my head on his chest. He caresses my hair.

“I guess I am,” he says and kisses my head

“I’m lucky too. You are everything I could ask for” I say and close my eyes to enjoy the moment.

“I love you, baby girl. I can’t imagine my life without you. I don’t want a life without you” he says and tight me closer.

“I love you too Daddy. I want to live with you everything I have dreamed. I won't wake up every morning next to you, that makes my day better. And every night sleep with you, my sleep is perfect holding me in your arms.” I say and I lift my head and we kiss. I hear a clear throat and I turn around and my mom stands at the kitchen door.

“Sorry. Dylan wants to go to bed and he waits for Natalie” I smile at Sam and I go to the living room. I take Dylan's hand and we walk to the bedroom.

“You had fun today?”

“Yes, mom. I like London but I miss home and my friends.”

“Well, we leave in three days. Enjoy your time with grandma and then we have to leave”

“I will. Thanks, Mom, goodnight” he sees Sam at the door

“Good night Dad”

“Good night buddy” I kiss his cheek

“Good night D” and I walk out of the room. We return to the living room to chat and spend a little time with our family and then we go to bed. Everything is perfect.
