Daryl's POV
"Oh goddess…" I sighed after I had shut the door behind me. It had been the longest couple of moments of my life as I had been in the same room with my mate.
Her scent… oh goddess, had almost made my nostrils go numb from how pleasurable it had been. My wolf had been unstable all through the ordeal with her.
At some point, I had to stop and sit in front of a mirror to mutter words of affirmation to myself as I had been trying to get myself under control.
I had been thinking of simply grabbing her and just expressing all of those desires which had been on the verge of exploding within me.
There were just too many things that had me feeling like I would have done something I would live to regret if I had stayed in there with her one more moment. The room had been stifling and suffocating with her scent all over me.
'You nearly got me in trouble, Zach…' I muttered to my room wolf, who seemed like he wouldn't be able to ever learn to control himself around her. 'I get she's my mate, but then, I'm sure that you know that she's to be betrothed to Ronan…'
'How's that even possible…?' Zach asked, as he was sounding quite livid in my head at the fact that our mate whom we had been seeking for so long had turned out to belong to my brother already.
With that, I felt quite cheated by the moon goddess as it seemed like she had some bias towards my brother who was always getting the better part of every single thing I had ever wanted.
I wasn't sure what I was going to do from then on. Everything had me feeling like I had returned to the pack too late. There was no way I was going to tell Ronan that he was actually about to get married to my mate.
'I guess that's just the way it happened to be. It's not convenient, but I am surely not going to get into a fight with my brother because of her.' I said those words to myself and to my wolf as well, but I wasn't sure that I would be able to keep to them, as they were all looking like impossible conditions to keep to.
'Easier said than done…" Zach whined in my head as he was getting impatient. 'The next time we are going to be alone with her, we will be making our advances at her, and we will be—'
"We will do no such thing…" I was almost unaware when I was voicing out my thoughts as I was trying the best I could to get those nasty thoughts away from my head.
In a bid to stay away from trouble, I was soon picking up my pace and walking away from the door to the room where my brother had put her. That didn't help anything at all and that made me realize that it was going to leave me leaving the pack to stay away from the irresistible scent of hers.
Maybe I had made the wrong decision by coming back to the pack. I thought my return would have been beneficial for the pack, but it was quite hard for me to understand what benefit was in it for me.
In no time, I was soon going to see my mate getting married to my brother.
There was no way I was going to be able to stand it. The pain was such that no one could be able to bear it.
I would be tempted to run up on both of them when they were saying their vows to each other.
"Here you are?" Xavier ran up to me, and he was soon looking like he had been searching for me ever since. "You had my heart beating out of my chest with the way you ran out of the car. I was totally clueless when the Alpha was asking me about you."
"I'm really sorry…" I was thinking of what other excuses that I could give him besides the fact that I had seen my mate. It was going to be a really outrageous statement to make at that point. "Maybe I just got too excited to be back home."
"Hmmm…" he was sounding a bit suspicious of the words I had said. That was the downside of having someone knowing me so well. He knew that I wasn't the kind to get so excited so easily. "Good thing you didn't get into any trouble at all."
"Yeah, right…" I was soon thinking of what I could do to keep myself from thinking about her all over again. It was quite hard for me to get my composure together like nothing had happened at all between me and her.
"Your brother, the alpha, has been waiting for you…" Xavier said. "I think we should go see him now."
"Sure thing…" I was unusually quiet, and I hoped that it wasn't going to be too obvious as I followed Xavier all the way to the door of Ronan's room.
A lot had changed about the place ever since I left it. The renovations were clear and distinct as the fortress looked like a whole new building at that point.
Soon enough, I was at the door to his room. Xavier opened the door, for me to walk in to see my brother pacing the room up and down impatiently.
At once, I could tell something was wrong and that had me approaching cautiously as he seemed to be on the verge of losing his cool completely at that point.
"You can leave…" I whispered to him as he was looking scared right out of his skin. "Shut the door when you're about leaving…"
The tension was too much for anyone else to bear. It felt like I was the only one who seemed to understand him.
"What's the matter?" I asked, trying to understand what the emergency could have been. "You seem really tense."
"There's a serious problem." He stared me in the eyes with a troubled look in his face.
"Talk to me…" I asked, as I was trying to think of which of our enemies could have been on our heels. That seemed to have been the only thing that could make him troubled.
"I may have…" he sighed as he seemed really irked, "I may have made the worst mistake of my life."
"And what could that be…?" I was beginning to get troubled as I was hearing him speak a bit unlike himself.
Before he could have replied to me, the door opened with a guard and a maid was soon barging into the door.
"What the heck are you both doing here?" Ronan was soon inquiring with a really harsh tone at that point.
"She escaped… the new girl from the werewolf pack…" the maid muttered.
It was clear that my mate was quite the stubborn type.
