Akihiko’s Side
I’m sorry Irina!
I blew her away with my wings before she could even pull the trigger to shoot me. She was knocked on the wall and lost consciousness I decided to dive into the next building and disguise myself to make my escape… or so I thought.
Gabriel pulled the harpoon out of the wall but instead of attaching it to his grappling gun, he hurled it at me like a javelin and it hit one of my wings. After that I landed on a rooftop of another building. This was my way of escape… there was no way he could even catch up to me at this point!
Back at the hotel room, he knocked on the door of the toilet. Sheena was already fully dressed…
“Miss, I would like you to come tomorrow to Anti-devil Agency and we’ll give you a full checkup.” He courteously gave her his call card. “There’s nothing for you to worry about. I will make sure that your checkup is done for free.”
She tearfully gazed into his eyes, “Thank you… you’re so kind…” she looked at his call card, “Gabriel…”
“Please evacuate the building,” he led her out. “I still need to pursue the enemy…”
“Please take him down!”
He grinned and nodded back at her. As soon as she headed out, Gabriel did the unthinkable… he fired up a portal… something that we couldn’t do without the portal machine. I was surprised as he immediately caught up to me because of the portal.
“We are lucky that there’s nobody else in this floor of this building,” he tightened his glove. “You know… something that I never liked about demons and humans alike is their cheating habits… You already have Irina. I knew that you were an incubus the first time that I shook hands with you. I thought that you must be fighting for mankind because you fought to protect this squad. I was also impressed that you decked out that American douchebag and got him fired… and then this…”
“I must do this to keep myself alive…” I answered him keeping my guard up still looking like Dane.
“Then do it with Irina,” he summoned out a wooden sword. “Once a week s*x to sate your lust to keep yourself alive, right? You had Sundays to do it, right? Why are you still f*****g with other women when you already have her? Antarctic Sanctuary, is it not? You’re all trying to save both of our kinds, right? Is that why you’re impregnating women and breaking their hearts? Does that feel good?”
“…”
“No answer, eh?”
He quickly dashed towards me and bludgeoned me with his wooden sword. The impact made me crash into a wall breaking it down. I quickly got back up and summoned out my katana.
“I don’t want to fight you, Gabriel…”
“Then you have to surrender, Akihiko,” he imbued the wooden blade with magic. “Why do you wield that katana if you don’t want to fight me?”
“Self-defense,” I showed him that I was planning to use the back of my blade. “It’s not worth it…”
“Then there’s no choice but to cut you to pieces and tell them of your true identity,” he slashed his magically imbued wooden sword through a wall and cut it down as if it were a real sword. “Which is stronger, your demonic red aura or my human blue aura?”
“Magic is a common misconception for you humans,” I had no choice but to get serious with him. I was at fault, so I might as well face the consequences of my actions. “Let me teach you something, kid. As Celestial beings, we call our powers as miracles and prayers, not magic. As one of the high devils, this is my miracle… the Miracle of Pain. As for prayers,” My katana upgraded. The Japanese sword grew six red fangs on its blade, “they are your personal wish manifested as weapons… I pray for my victory.”
“So you are saying that your miracle is to manipulate the levels of pain you inflict to an adversary…. Hmmm… Okay~ not bad~” Gabriel raised his wooden sword. “This one, believe it or not, is a quarterstaff sculpted into a sword and I don’t know my own miracle but I have a prayer and it has something to do with your death. Get ready, I’m really going for your head… you can read my thoughts though…”
Decapitate… decapitate… decapitate… decapitate…
“Demon-slaying technique Third form: Spectral Render!” When I swung my blade, a razor-sharp energy was released.
Decapitate… decapitate… decapitate… decapitate…
He bent backwards to the right and aimed his sword at me, “Bang!”
*BANG!!!*
Instinctively and fortunately, I decided to jump out of the way because his wooden sword blasted a shell from that of a shotgun, but he was not yet done because like a shotgun fired, the backward force from the recoil allowed him to charge up his next move as his blade gathered power for a devastating crash. But I was not going to allow him to hit me, no… no… nope. I dashed towards him with my blade set to give him a painful sensation that would knock him out cold to prevent his next move from hitting.
“Demon-Slaying Technique Second form: Spiritual Sprint!”
He blindsided me though… I forgot that he wasn’t even using his left hand yet. He dropped his wooden staff to his left hand releasing an explosive collision with my blade blasting me to another wall.
“Give up Akihiko, you’re not even worth my time anymore…”
“Are you sure?” I kicked off some debris. “A little more and I could’ve slashed your skin. Close, isn’t it?”
He saw the cut on his uniform and grinned, “Close… Close doesn’t win anything. I know that your wizard friends are stronger than you… so why not call them?”
“I don’t need to call them,” I grew my wings and zoomed in on him before he could even react. I planted my fist into his gut painful enough to knock him unconscious. He was thrown off and crashed into a wall. “That should knock him out cold…”
*COUGH* *COUGH*
I knew it. He won’t get knocked unconscious. Should I give him a few more punches? I asked myself but then again… I don’t want to actually kill him with my miracle of pain.
“OH MY GOD, that’s painful… but not really enough to one-shot me…” he stood up like after immediately getting over the pain. He stared at me and grinned, “Let me give you a teaser of the power bestowed to me by my friends at Biringan City in the Philippines.”
I dove into my thoughts pondering about the place, I have heard of that missing city. It has the reputation of being self-sufficient and self-reliant. The Celestial folks there would even reject the entry of their own kind… of us. It only means one thing… a fourth sanctuary exists and he is one of them… the rarest of them, a human.
“You look stunned,” his eyes were glowing blue. “I had the same expression when I found out that I was invited to come to the black city.” He aimed his wooden sword at me, “Turn into sheep!”
Realizing the gravity of his power, I immediately moved out of the way. If he turned me into a sheep, it’ll be my end! “Demon-Slaying Technique Fifth form: Phase Through!” I fired a concentrated stabbing energy from my katana to hit him and followed it up with a direct attack to pierce through his heart, “Demon-Slaying technique Fourth form: Soul Piercer!”
He easily deflected the beam, but he wouldn’t be able to defend the next one!
“s**t!” He panicked and backed off.
“No more escape, Gabriel!”
He grinned at me though, “PORTAL!”
“What?!” That portal thing again! I found myself already behind him. “How could you?!”
*WHAM!!!*
He kicked me hard on the back but I just couldn’t let him escape my attack and so I used the momentum of his kick to give him a taste of his own medicine with an added intensity of pain!
*SLAM!!!*
“GODDAMNIT SON OF A b***h!!!” He whimpered and tried to endure the intense pain from my kick. “ARAY KO!!! GAGO!!!” (OUCH!!! YOU FOOL!!!)
“I’m not done yet, Gabriel!”
“Oh yes, you are!!!”
We both gave each other a powerful punch in the face with me taking the full punch while he was able to block mine with his palm! His hand felt like it was stomped on hard by a heavy person and he still was able to endure it giving me a knee to the gut, a jab to the rib cage, and an uppercut to dislocate my arm from my shoulder. Since I was a demon, I was able to immediately relocated my arm back to my shoulder and forcefully pushed him away from me.
“It would seem that among the incubus and succubus that I have fought so far here in America, you’re the only one to actually make me scream in pain.” He grinned at me, “Kudos to that… both of us are holding back because we don’t want human casualties. Kudos to that too… One thing that I need you to stop doing since you’re already taken is…”
“Cheating… I know,” I massaged the relocated part of my arm since it was really painful and I also felt that some of my ribs got fractured. “I didn’t realize that so I guess I owe her an apology… but I cannot tell her my true identity… So does this mean that you’re already giving me a chance to live?”
He shook his head, “I can’t do that…”
“You should do it or we’ll kill you, Agent Gab,” Agent Rodriguez jumped in through the ceiling. “This building has already been surrounded by Anti-devil Agents, the police, and the army. There’s nowhere for Akihiko to hide unless Geoffrey uses the totem to summon him out…”
“Wait, he can portal me out of here, Jose,” I looked at Gabriel, “If he wants to comply.”
“Interesting…” Agent Rodriguez grinned at him. “You’re still hiding a lot of things from us, huh? So are you going to comply or not?”
Gabriel sighed. “Someone’s about to snipe me… and those are probably magical bullets.” He fired up a portal to let me escape. “This isn’t over yet though…”
“I know,” I passed through the portal and found myself on an abandoned alley five miles away from the building. When I looked back, the portal was already closed off. “I have to go home… ugh… my body aches…”
Meanwhile…
“Get the medical team! This man is injured!” Agent Rodriguez led Agent Ferrer to the rooftop to be rescued. “I’m going back inside to check!”
At that time, Gabriel calmed down and returned back to becoming a normal human being. Because he deactivated his berserk mode, his body immediately underwent a rebound causing him to have breathing difficulties and body pain. He fell to his knees first and then he fell flat on the ground. The Night Shift Squad immediately hurried to their injured member.
“Gab wake up!” Agent Louis knelt down and tearfully checked for his pulse.
“Is he still alive?!” Agent Schultz knelt down beside her.
“Thank goodness, there’s a pulse…” Agent Louis sighed in relief.
Agent Browning waved at the helicopter pilot, “HURRY UP!!! DAMN IT!!!”
“Let me carry him, sisters.” Agent Ibrahim carefully lifted him up. “He’s light…”
“Of course, he’s light. Look at him, he’s slim!” Agent Schultz scratched her head.
“Ugh… hey… uh,” Agent Ferrer woke up. “Put me down, will you? I just needed rest that’s all. I don’t need to go to the hospital.”
Agent Ibrahim did as requested, “Are you sure, you’re alright?”
“I’m too strong for the New York Incubus,” he patted the shoulder of Agent Louis. “No more New York Incubus… we did it.”
