Akihiko’s Side
“In every state of the United States, there is a Celestial Being who acts as its Overlord. In New York, the New York Incubus acts as one. In the event that an Overlord dies or is killed, opportunists may come in to grab the title. Most of Canada fell into the hands of the werewolves. The United States, however, are still under the mighty capable hands of the humans. To be honest, I don’t think what we just realized a while back was the correct thing.”
“Now that I think about it,” I pathetically glanced at Jose, “that was kind of misleading…”
“It’s all thanks to his reaction,” Geoffrey pointed at Gabriel. “You’re reaction about his death as the cause of all of this led us to the wrong conclusion…”
“I admit that it is farfetched and I kind of agree that it is not the overlord thing that could’ve caused this,” Gabriel wore his helmet and started his motorcycle. “However, as we speak, we are wasting time and effort to save the civilians.”
“Where are you going?” Jose asked him while checking the internet. “There’s more to the news report. Other states are also under attack. It looks like the enemies are expanding their territories.”
“All the more for me to hurry up… Face it guys, one way or another, we’re gonna have to do it. I’m going to the agency.” Gabriel drove off.
“What did he mean by that?” Geoffrey started his car, “Are you all wearing your seatbelts?”
“Yeah, drive,” Jose sighed. “One way or another, we’re going to reveal our true identities…”
“Well if that happens,” I held my katana tight, “I’m gonna miss this place…”
“Let us all hope that the humans would have a change of heart,” Geoffrey kept his eye on the road. “Otherwise, we’ll have to return to Antarctica…”
“I think these humans can push the invading enemies back,” Jose tinkered with some of his vials. “About five years ago, these people almost drove our kind to extinction… They won’t even need our help.”
“Maybe they do need a little of our help,” I noticed him mixing some more concoctions to his potions vials. “What are you doing?”
“I’m improvising,” Jose grinned. “How many more minutes till we arrive?”
“A few more, I guess…” Geoffrey took a detour. “The traffic’s starting to get heavier.”
When we arrived, countless troops had already been deployed to join the battle at the border. Luckily, the Incubus Hunt Division hadn’t been deployed yet. Actually, Anna refused to listen to the orders of the higher-ups to go without us. Thanks to her, we still got plenty of time left to discuss our plans. It was awkward for me considering that Gabriel was with the Sheena, the former office lady turned Anti-devil Agent in training, and Irina was stealing glances from him. Tell me, where did I go wrong? Before I could even quote the song, the darkened skies were suddenly filled by swarms of vampires. Of course, some of their species can fly… All of us took cover and at the back of my head, I guess those vampires were aiming to release those imprisoned demons.
“How many agents remain here?!” Anna Choi grabbed the collar of a higher-up. “Tell me!!!”
“About half!!!” The higher-up was trembling in fear, “Please… let me go!!!”
“p***y,” she let go of the higher-up. “You pride yourselves for being the bosses and yet you can’t fight!”
“That’s enough, Anna,” Tyrell was already suited up against the vampires. “Let’s just focus on surviving.”
“I’ll take the other civilians to safety first. I’ll meet you all at the top later,” Gabriel led Sheena to safety.
“At the top, is he mad?” Salome scratched her head.
“Holy s**t! The vampires got guns!!!” Sophia hurried inside the headquarters. “We need to take cover!!!”
“We have no choice,” Geoffrey hurried to the elevator. “Make sure that those imprisoned demons stay imprisoned!”
“Got it,” I nodded at him. “We need to get inside, the headquarters is locking down!”
“Jose! What the hell are you still doing out there?! Get inside!!!” Irina yelled at him.
Jose grinned at us, “I got this fam…”
“Stop joking Jose!!!” Tyrell tried to get him inside, but the thick wall was already at a narrow point. “s**t!!!”
A few seconds later, we were locked safely inside the headquarters.
“Brother!!!” Mobo Ibrahim knelt down. “Is he sacrificing himself to save us?”
“No, he’s not.” I stayed, “He’ll come back for sure. You guys need to guard the prison. I need to take care of some stuff first…”
“Where are you going?” Irina asked.
“To the armory,” I then turned to Tyrell. “We have to distribute the weapons to our fellow agents.”
“Great plan homie,” Tyrell grinned. “Alright, the rest of you will have to keep those prisoners in their place. We’re definitely going to win this. We’re not the only agency fighting this war after all.”
[Meanwhile] [Anti-devil Agency Rooftop]
“I’m only using my guns and yet… I already vaporized 53 of your race, Elitists…” Geoffrey grinned as he was now on his last round of shots. “When all of my bullets disappear, you’ll see me in my true strength…”
“Really?” Among the Elitist Vampires was a succubus, one of the two remaining lustful devils. She landed down and ordered the Elitists, “Fly down and hunt for blood! This one right here is mine…”
“Goodness you’re tall,” Geoffrey switched out his guns with his daggers. “Your tail looks so much like a centipede… something straight out from a horror movie… Are you going to use it to kill me?”
“You talk too much, human,” she spread out her wings. “I’m not the same as my siblings that you agents captured…”
“You’re not the sense that you’re using an army of vampires instead of facing us on your own… pathetic excuse, right?” He taunted her as he prepared for their clash. “Let me give you a piece of advice, don’t blink.”
[Somewhere in the northern parts of Brooklyn]
There were bodies of werewolves and vaporized ashes of vampires everywhere and at the center of it all was Jose who had just finished planting some kind of device on the ground. It didn’t seem like he was injured or anything. In fact, he was livid and ready for more. He pressed a button to activate the device. Suddenly, mists sprung forth covering the entire area and it continued to spread throughout New York City cloaking up the five boroughs and other parts outside of the city caught in the radius.
Contented of his handicraft, Jose prepared to return to the headquarters when suddenly…
“It looks like I found out who decimated this portion of the City,” the second succubus finally appeared. “And I thought that the Agent known as Gabriel was the only monster…”
“Ah,” Jose looked pleased, “Buenas tardes, hermosa~ It means good afternoon, beautiful~ Indeed, I am a monster. I made this thing to dull the senses of pure demons like you and also to cover up what I’m about to do to you~”
“Whatever it is, little man, it’s not gonna happen,” the succubus spread out her wings and exposed her tail. “You will die here…”
“Talk about a snake in the ass,” Jose showed her one of his noxious vials. “I’m a wizard… a dwenno… a halfling, you see and I would like to show you how nasty it is to die by my hands, diablo.”
[Brooklyn, NY] [Yes, the Anti-devil Agency is in Brooklyn]
Gabriel had just finished snapping the neck of one of the Alphas who tried to gang up on him when he got to see the thickening of the mist. Wondering what that was, he suddenly saw the former agent Roderick inside a convenience store pointing a gun at the store’s owner. He decided to approach and upon further inspection, Roderick looked like he was actually possessed by some kind of evil…
“Hey, Rod, looking great…” Gabriel entered the convenience store. “How are you doing?”
Due to his distraction, the store owner was able to act fast and hide. Realizing what he had done, Rod turned to aim his gun at Gab.
“You, the fault of my downfall…” he was twitchy and jerky. “You’re strength overshadowed my charisma…”
Gabriel felt unnerved, “I did what I had to and you did yours. We’ve never even formally had this kind of serious talk…”
“I was the promising ONE! LOOK AT ME!!! I am the nephew of Captain Evans!!!”
“Brad, don’t blame me for your failure…” Gabriel looked around and saw other agents outside fighting against the monsters despite the thickening of the fog. “Listen, we are in a difficult situation now… if you want to redeem yourself, now’s the chance. Drop your gun…”
“No!” He proceeded to shoot, “DIE!!!”
“SHET!” Gabriel dodged and hid within the boxes of goods, “ARE YOU BEING REASONABLE!?!”
Suddenly, Roderick morphed into a terrifying ghoul. Seriously, how was it possible that things escalated this much in such a short time?!
“Are you ready, Ty?” I grinned at him as we passed the weapons to a number of agents who followed us. “We’re going to take back New York!”
“There’s one problem Jap,” Tyrell checked out for updates. “There’s a thick mist covering the entire city…”
