The Thanksgiving Getaway.
Amy is a quiet 17-year-old girl from the suburbs. Feared by people, even her family. During Thanksgiving her dad wanted his sister to have Amy over to get her used to the family. But her aunt Isa didn't want to have her, disappointed Mike Amy's dad tried the mum's sister Eliana. Eliana gently and kindly declined. He tried every other family member but none was willing to have Amy over for Thanksgiving. Sad he goes into Amy's room to inform her of the sad news. Mike "Hey Amy, how are you doing?" Amy "Don't try, I know no one wants to have me over. No need to sugarcoat it." Mike "Oh, well... Their loss 'cause we're going to the famous IBK beach resort" Amy "Really?! No lies? Oh my gawd" Mike "Lies? No baby. I managed to save up." Amy "Thanks, Dad, I love you." Mike "I love you too." Amy "So, when are we going?" Mike "Ummm, maybe next week Wednesday so we'll be there 2 days before Thanksgiving" Amy "Alright! I'll start packing" Now, you're wondering why no one likes her and why her dad is trying to cheer her up, right? Well, because she can hear lies. No matter how good you are, she'll know. And everyone but her grandma is afraid of her, her grandma doesn't lie so she likes knowing when her family is lying to her, you get? She doesn't even have friends in school, like you'd have guessed already. But hey! A new term is starting... So let's see how it'll go Next week Wednesday finally came. Amy is holding onto her dad like the last thread of life, afraid of what might go wrong Mike noticing her nervousness, whispers what he always says to her "Don't think about what can go wrong, think about what can go right and what you can make right" And that always managed to calm her. She smiled like that was the happiest she had ever been, well maybe. They finally go to the front desk, the receptionist saying their motto: Welcome to IBK Beach Resort, where every wave brings peace and every guest feels at home. Happy to be of help. Amy whispers to her dad "She's not happy that's for sure" Mike says "Keep it to yourself please" They get taken to their room, after unpacking they go downstairs to have lunch. Then they bump into Aunt Clara the most brutal of the family haters of Amy's gift or is it a curse? What do you think? Amy tries to hide behind a pillar but her dad pulls her to his side. Forcing to greet Clara Amy goes "Good afternoon, Aunt Clara" Clara replies "Hm" Mike "Hi Cuz, how are you? Are you here for the holidays?" Clara "Hey, I'm good and you? Yeah, I am, with my fiancé and my absolutely normal daughter." Mike annoyed says "Don't try to shade my daughter, be nice" Amy irritatedly says "That's if she knows how to" Mike "Amy! You know what? It was nice seeing you, Clara. Bye, my regards to Drew and Claire." Clara "Oh well. Toodles." At the dining hall, Mike questions Amy on her remark but doesn't blame her. It was a buffet, so while Amy was picking her food, she saw a guy arguing with his mum over Chinese rice. The guy goes "Mum, I love Chinese. Okay?" The mum annoyed "No you don't, you're allergic to it." The guy laughs, then goes "Oh, you remembered" And she's staring at the guy baffled by why she couldn't tell that he was lying. But before she could take more time he left with his mum. First person ever! She thinks. Running to tell her dad, she forgets her plate. Dad! Dad!! Daddy!!! Now realizing that she was shouting, she saw the faces turning to look at her. She reduces the shouting and spots her dad by the salad stand. When they go to sit down, she tells him all about the guy she couldn't read his mind and as expected the dad too is shocked. Mike brushes it off saying "Oh well, one person wouldn't kill" Then something happens that coincidentally happened in Amy's presence. What? Someone stole a diamond wristwatch. The owner frantic, shouted at the manager to find the watch. The manager was really confused, not knowing who to blame, as everyone who entered the room said it wasn't them. Amy says it was the room service guy. The manager looks saying "What concerns the young lady in this? Where's her parent or guardian?" "I'm not lying!" Amy shouts. Agitated the owner asks the guy and threatens imprisonment, then finally the guy confessed. Surprised, all ask how she knew. She goes "It was all a hunch" Everyone was shocked but praised her either way. Well... The day after Thanksgiving Mike had to go back to work. What sad news to Amy. But they had to leave either way.
