Chapter Five

Chapter Five: "The perks of marriage."

Walking the down the aisle with my parents both on my side. Tears stream down my face. It's not really in my plan to marry this early but what else can I do? I'm pregnant and I want to give my baby a family like mine. Anyway, I get to wear my dream gown.

"Are you happy, anak?"

Dad whispered as we continue to walk down the aisle. Kai is standing at the front wearing his all white tux. His parents beside him. He is smiling at me and I smiled back. "I'm so happy. And nervous."

I turned to my right and gave daddy a big smile. Hinalikan niya ang aking noo. Hindi ko na napigil ang mga luha na pumatak muli galing sa mga mata ko. I'm so happy that I feel so scared. What if this is just a dream? What if I wake up and all of these are products of my wild imagination? Kahit naman hindi ko pinlano na mabuntis agad-agad ay natutunan ko na rin na natanggapin ang blessing na ito sa buhay ko. I've come to love my baby growing inside of me. We stopped in front of the altar. Kai shook daddy and dada's hands and I did the same to his parents. After that he turned to look at me, his eyes smiling like the smile that is gracing his lips. We both nod and the pastor motioned is to face one another. Kai held both of hands and smiled sweetly at me. One of the helper held the mic in front of Kai.

"Babe, today we become one. I didn't see myself as someone who will settle down but here I am, standing in front of you, of our families, our friends, and God. I don't want to make promises because it's meant to be broken. I am here to make my vows in front of these people. To love and cherish you. To protect you and to keep you happy. To make your dreams come true, to help you achieve your goals. To make love to you every single night... To make you pregnant every year,"

The people laughed at his last statement and the pastor chuckled. I glared at him playfully. Kahit kailan talaga napaka maloko nito.

"Seriously, I'll do that. I'll hold onto my vows and will do my best to make you very happy. To make our little family happy. I didn't know that I am capable of loving until the day that you barged into my life saying you're pregnant and telling me I am the father and I should take responsibility. I love you like a love song, baby. Kahit na parang pasmado ang bibig mo. Kahit na palagi mo akong binubully. I love you."

I can't stop the tears streaming down my face like waterfalls. Nakangiti pa din si Kai sa akin at tinulungan niya ako sa pagpunas sa luha ko. He even kissed my lips once. He mouthed 'I love you' to me and held my hands again, kissing them gently.

Natawa siya sa sinabi ko. Now, it is my turn to say my vows. I can still remember two ago when I was panicking because I haven't done my vows yet. I ended up doing nothing. Kahit ngayon iniisip ko pa din kung ano ang mga sasabihin ko sa kanya. As I stare into his eyes, seeing the love swimming in his gaze, I realised that now amount of words can explain how much I love him. How much thankful I am that he's the one who got me pregnant.

"I don't have my vows. Wala akong sinulat. Two days ago I was crying so hard thinking that I might embarrass myself in my own wedding because I couldn't write anything for my vows. But today I realised that there are now words that can describe how I feel today. Hearing you say your vows which you wrote last night, I knew because I saw you writing it, I have come to learn that even if we didn't plan any of these, even if we were both strangers who met for the purpose of s*x exclusive for a night, we are here today because we are meant for each other."

I brought his hands to my lips and kissed each knuckles. I looked at him lovingly.

"When I found out that I am pregnant, I was really scared. I laughed at what I have said. Pati na din si Kai ay natawa.
