The DNA Results

POV: Alpha Oliver

"Alpha please wake up"

"Laura why are you waking my self, and my wife your luna?" I rolled over to find the bed empty

"Alpha, the Luna told me to wake you up directly" 

"What ? It's like 6 am " I just want more sleep

"The DNA results on the twins came back, it has the Luna and I freaked out, I know you said to tell no one but she demanded I tell her why I was freaked out and I couldn't stop myself and then I just told her I am so sorry" Laura is rambling? This is new.

"Let me see," I say as I take the sheet from her. It's rumpled and folded at odd angles. "What" I could not understand what I seeing. This paper said their DNA was unknown. That there was not only no human in it but nothing that could be recognized. 

"Alpha we have sample DNA from every living creature at our fingertips, I can't understand how this could be"

"Laura, delete everything on the twins you have. I am not sure what is going on. Could it be fairy?"

"Alpha we have fairy DNA, and it is not even close to this, however" Laura hands me a folded paper from her pocket "I did find this, and I made sure to leave no trace of the tests I have done"

I look at the paper with what must be an expression of astonishment. This paper neater than the last had a DNA profile on it that had one point of reference, a similar species possibly. However, this DNA profile was from an off worlder that had been treated at a major city in the middle of the country A very far away place from the low points near the Wildlands. 

"What species was this man?" Laura looks like she has more to tell, even another few papers.

"Well that's just it, he looks human but listed himself as a mage" She hands me a photo of a gray-haired man with kind blue eyes. He looked completely human. 

"Isn't a mage a type of magic-user? Another word for witch or warlock?" I asked there should still be a mostly human profile. Which this old man had, with just a few tweaks. 

"Well usually yes, and the DNA on our world has maybe one or two points of reference that are not 'human' and more similar to this man, and the twins" She looked worried. 

"What else do you have to say?" I look at my Luna who had come back in with coffee before Laura gave me the old mans DNA sample, giving her a small smile.

"Well, the twins DNA is so much more different, and they have closer reference points to this old man than anything but-" She was rocking on her feet and chewing her lip "They also have some DNA similar to fox DNA but not actually a match, also I looked into when they appeared"

"What do you mean by appeared?" My Luna Annabella asked

"Remember how the Davidsons didn't have twin kids, then they did?" I said

"Alpha is right, they just cropped up. I learnt that they actually went to the police, and even registered them as adopted. If you look at the registry, it happened right around the time Nora made the gates that connect our world to other ones. They were unstable at the time though" 

"Laura you know you can get into trouble looking into the Royals affairs!" I was yelling

"Don't worry Alpha I have a friend, no one will know" Laura smirked

"Okay, I'm going to pay them a visit, I'll mind link Kevin" I shooed Laura out to get ready. I must visit these kids, I have to ask them what they are. But how should I ask them?

POV: Minreila 

Where are you Aplhas? Came Mr Reynolds' voice through the mind link

Where we always are at 9 am on Saturdays Mr Reynold I must admit I am tired from yesterday

Alpha Oliver is here, want me to bring him to the greenhouse or the mad scientist lab?

I'll meet Minreila in the greenhouse, my experiment needs time anyway My brother is doing dangerous things again, isn't he?

Okay, I'll bring the Alpha to you Minreila in the greenhouse eta 5 minutes He must be taking him through the main building not outside.

"Sister, don't you think it's cute how Mr Reynold seemed annoyed today? He even dropped Alpha titles at the end there" Laughing my brother came in with odd black gunk on his legs. 

"Brother please tell me that won't hurt you?" I ask pointing to his legs. Today he had on baggy cotton pants and a thin shawl-like scarf that covered half of his chest, a n****e was showing. Alpha Oliver is going to be pissed. I have on a crochet tunic that came down to my thighs barely at least I have underwear on. 

"Nah it's just charcoal mixed with harmless slime, I was waiting for something and was playing around" My brother jumped to sit on the table in the prep room before the greenhouse. This was a bit better place to meet the Alpha. I got up to sit beside him. 

"Alphas how do you do?" Alpha Oliver asked looked a bit shifty?

Sister, why does he look like that? There shouldn't be any issues in his pack Suflare didn't note anything to us

Yes brother he looks off

"We are doing fine Alpha Oliver what brings you here?"

"What are you"

"I am a girl and he is a boy" I smirked at him, brother do you suppose he tested our blood?

"No What. Are. You."

"Alpha Oliver please address my Alphas properly" Mr Reynold was staring daggers at him.

"Look I know you aren't human, I know you aren't wolf! I Remember the marks on your chests! WHAT ARE YOU?" Alpha Oliver looks angry I can't help but be scared. 

POV: Alpha Oliver

"LEAVE THEM ALONE!" Young Jackson came in, in tears hitting me with his dad following.

"Please leave Alpha Oliver you are scaring my 12-year-old twin children" Duke Kern looked stern as he grabbed his trembling children all three were holding onto them, Jackson on his leg the twins each on an arm.

"I am sorry, I just I am freaked out I can not let a threat like this be unaddressed I am a King of Alphas" This is a threat an unknown species starting a pack? With a mind link so close to mine. Wait...could they be shifters like cats? I know they are extinct or so we think. Have I made a mistake? There are rumours that the shifter of different races are still around just so small we don't see them. I even met a bear shifter once. 

"We are not a threat!" Minrowen is steady now and Minreila has her signature lazy faraway look.

"What are you?" I ask softer this time 

"Is it really important right now" Minrowen has answered again as Jackson and Kern both busy themselves with their fingernails. 

"Yes," I say again as softly as I can muster

"Well even we do not know really, how about this, once we understand ourselves we will tell you," Minrowen said almost as if he was repeating something

"Minreila why don't you talk directly? Not through your brother" I knew there was something about her, right?

"I don't know what you are talking about? Sister?" Minrowen is now gently shaking his sister as she starts to focus on us, "Huh?" She said, and now I knew I made a mistake whoops. 

"Nevermind, I don't accept that I need to know what you are now," I say

"Look, we will disclose this information either when we figure it out, or when we do the reevaluation on our 16th birthday," Minrowen said again, it seemed like he was repeating something but Minreila was already unfocused laying her head on her Dad in front of her, no doubt in front of her due to her outfit. 

"I suppose that will be fine, Alphas" I won't win this if an adult is actually feeding him what to say. 

POV: Minreila

I am glad he left

I am also glad sister, he almost figured out you are the one who is good at mind games

I know but I think he now suspects one of the adults near us, it was a nice touch nudging me

Yeah I thought that would work, we can't have people thinking both of us are focused, strong and smart

That is true Rowen it would make certain moves harder

Yeah, but Minreila does it feel weird that our parents think you can only do herbology and love to just goof off?

No brother, I think our parents, brother and even Mr Reynold have already figured out our scheme to put focus on you the boy, while I play the weak girl with hobbies of fun and rare bursts of focus. 

Really, I could see that why do they not ask us about it?

I think they just trust us? It is an odd feeling. Besides brother, they usually come to me to ask things about the pack no?

Ah yeah, I hadn't noticed I was too engrossed in this experiment. 

"Wait what experiment are you doing?"

"Ah sister its to help you, I am trying to make the summer flowers you enjoy so much ever blooming even in winter so we can put them in hanging planters all around the house"

"Awe how sweet my son!" Father Kern is always happy to hear Minrowen isn't doing things that are dangerous like our Mother always is. 

The ones that I enjoy, do you mean the Magic ones that keep 'evil' things like curses and even people away?

YUP I know you said it would be  good to plant them in the summer but you would love to get them set up in an inner ring

Rowen, I am so happy if this works we Can set up poles around our territory with solar/magic light and hang the flowers on them, no one will suspect anything and no one will think it's our barrier!
