The Forgotten Twins

POV: Levi Most ask me why would I create souls just to let them suffer unimaginable pain. The answer is simple, I don't. Mortals of all species have free will. This is because we Gods that live in the light between worlds and do not roam the worlds often, mostly prefer not to be puppet masters.  When a mortal has a child they don't want to make every decision for them all the time, right? Well, some do, just like some Gods like to be puppet masters.  I  do not, I   prefer to create beautiful souls then watch them grow on their own.  Unfortunately, some souls suffer. Usually, I  make sure to move them by reincarnating them,  into new worlds with the hope they won't suffer again. Sometimes like with all things,  some go unnoticed until it is too late.  There are two souls that I created thousands of years ago. I  remember the feeling I had when  I  crafted them,  perfect foxes. I  sent them as twins to be born together for their first life,  one male one female. I planned on their next lives to be separate and perhaps they would find each other again a few reincarnations later.  However,  as I  watch them now on their 862nd  life together running from their father I feel sad.  I truly thought this couple would not kill them. I was wrong. POV: The female Twin Does this feel familiar? I mind link my brother, as we run hand in hand from our axe-wielding dad. It is our 6th  birthday today. This is the first time we have been outside. I would love to admire all the bright colors and pleasant smells but dad is closing in. How could we outrun a grown man?  It feels like we have does this before,  do you think we should hide?  Came my brothers' reply. We were becoming tired fast. Our whole lives we have been in a  dark small room. This is the first time we have ever run, and it looks like we suck at it. Okay, let's hide I mind link back.  How long till he finds us in this tree? My brother sounds frightened but strong as always. I watched as Dad pulls him out of the tree hollow we are hiding in before I could answer. I don't have time to yell at Dad to stop before I was looking into the unseeing eyes of my brothers' severed head.  POV:  The Male twin "Welcome back twins" a  booming voice Ecos around my sister and me. My mind is fuzzy I feel my sister beside me though, and that makes it okay.  "I  am the  God Levi,  a creator of souls.  You already know me, and my companions. We are truly sorry this life also did not work out.  Have you remembered anything  yet?"  "We are twins who have a  curse on us, this curse causing our parents to hate us and kill us.  No matter what. No one knows how to break the curse. It is believed this curse was given to us by our first parents. But because it happened in our first life, no one was yet assigned to watch us. So no one saw it. By the time someone was assigned to us we had been killed 3  times and were on our fourth life. Every time we die we get reborn.  And after the  40th death before 10 years of life, we were given a  wish each time we died. And we  always   wish to stay together." My sister drones on and on, I remember how we have been here before. We always seem to forget though, which makes the pain so much harder each life. "Yes yes, thats right this time we have a  special offer for  you two."  Levi is smiling, it never reaches his eyes though. I think he is sad we keep coming back.   "And what is this so-called offer? We have never reached 10 we always die, can't we just not go back this time? I know it's possible you have let us  stay here before!" My sister always screams at Levi, every time we come back here. I prefer to just soak in all the warmth of this place and eat the snacks they provide. I know I won't get it again after we are reborn.  "Well you two kids have been twins so long, so we think it is no longer possible to reincarnate you two apart" Levi's friend Stien, answers my sister as Levi and her have a stare off. "And the offer is?" I speak up intrigued what does that mean? We always wish to be born together, and the one time we didn't we both died still. That was back when the  Gods thought separation would break the curse, it did not.  "I'd like to offer you two, two wishes before you are reborn." Levi is generous as always What should we wish for this time? I ask my sister who is still staring at Levi. Our memories, and great magic ability? Her reply was more of a question. "We want to have access to all our memories of all lives and have great magic abilities" I spoke firmly for my sister.  "You already have great magical ability,  you just haven't lived long enough to use it."Lieva the Goddess of magic rolled her eyes as she spoke. She always acts so bothered by us.   "Fine, we want you not to hand-select our parents this time.  I know you always pick them, we want random" Even  I was staring at my sister at that outrageous request. Before I  could argue though Levi waved his hand and said "Let it be done". With that, we were again reborn.
