Chapter 2

City A Church

The evening service had just ended and people were coming out of the church. Some families held their children, got into their cars and drove off while those with no cars went away on their feet.

The scene then centered on the young man who had bumped into Ravenna earlier that day, he was walking to his car when he heard two ladies call him "Bro Dominic!!" He turned over to look at them, then nodded "Sis. Loveth! Sis. Juliana! Good evening"

The lady called Loveth smiled and asked "Good evening, how was the mid-week service today? Hope you were blessed?"

Dominic nodded still with his straight facial expression "Yes, hope you were blessed too" Loveth smiled and said "God is helping us... I can see you are on your way home already, seems like you forgot the scarves and ties I asked you to buy"

"No, I was just about to bring them to you" Dominic said and walked to his car, he opened it and brought out a big plastic bag filled with stuffs. He walked back to the two ladies and was about to hand over the bag to Loveth when he heard someone scream his name

"DOMINIC!!!"

They all turned to the source of the noise and saw a lady rushing towards them like a mad, angry dog. The lady snatched the plastic bag and threw it to the ground then turned to look at Dominic and said "Even if you like it or not, we are about to get engaged, why are you here flirting with and giving gifts to these shameless set of people"

Juliana was already enraged "Excuse me..." She said, but when she felt Dominic's calm gaze on her, she knew it was for her to keep calm and so she kept quiet. Dominic then turned to face the young lady and asked "Annabel, why are you here?"

Annabel scoffed and said "Of course, it is to stop you from getting influenced by these lowlifes. I heard that you went to the mall and got scarves. It really is true, seeing it's a gift for these ladies"

Loveth shook her head and said "Sorry, miss. You must have misunderstood. These scarves and ties are for the teenagers. They have a presentation coming, so they bought these scarves and ties. Please take note, the children paid for these scarves and ties and I just had Bro Dominic get them for me"

Annabel scoffed and said "I don't know how you measly people think. Have you no arms and legs to go get them yourselves? Just say it's because you want to use this chance to seduce your Bro Dominic. I hit the nail on the spot , right?"

Juliana couldn't take it anymore and said "You call us measly people, but aren't you more measly than us? Do you even know what you look like coming here, fighting over a man? What kind of fiancee to be is so insecure to stalk a man and know about all his movements? Are you even sure you are worthy of him? You do not come to church and see how he is held in high regard. What? Are you thinking of stopping him from coming to church when you marry in and play the role of 'a ninny destroys the hero' instead of 'a beauty destroys the hero' ?"

"You..." Annabel was infuriated but Dominic cuts in with a firm tone "Did you drive here?" Annabel looked away and said "No, I took a taxi" Dominic sighed , then turned to Loveth and Juliana. "I'm sorry for the troubles. I'm deeply sorry. We'll see at the Sunday school preparation on Friday. I'll take my leave now" He nodded at them and walked to his car

Annabel looked at the two ladies and sneered at them as Juliana raised her fist in response. Annabel quickly followed Dominic and entered his car as they drove off. Loveth sighed and said "Why did someone as perfect as that get entangled with a woman like that?" Juliana scoffed and said "In my own perspective, he's not really perfect. I've never seen him smile or frown. In what way is he perfect?" She walked off as Loveth picked the plastic bag and ran after her "Wait for me..."

In the car, Dominic kept his straight face not uttering a word while Annabel kept staring at him. Then, she noticed that one of his cufflinks was missing "Dominic, have you lost your cufflink?"

Dominic looked at his hand , then furrowed his brows...

In a very big room with the furnitures giving an ancient vibe, there were some intricate carvings and sculptures and various valuable vases. There was a shelf were countless scrolls were on. Ravenna appeared holding in her hand the cufflink from earlier. She caressed it and admired it.

"Woah, this is huge" She sat down and stretched forth her hand as a cup of wine appeared on her hand. She drank and licked her lips still staring at the cufflink "I can't bear to give it back and I can't bear to take it for free. What do I do?"

She sighed then drank when Kael appeared falling flat to the ground. Ravenna clenched her fist, then threw her cup of wine at Kael "You were surely created to provoke and frustrate me. You piece of fat meat! What do you want now?"

Kael quickly stood up and bowed, then said "My lady, a client has been waiting for you for a long time." "Oh? There is a client? Why didn't you tell me?" "I told you, you asked me to get out of your car that you needed to shop"

Ravenna glared at Kael and he immediately changed his words "Yes, yes, yes... It's my fault for not telling you and making the client wait for a long time" Ravenna sighed then stood up and said "Lead the way..."
