Silence

Alexei POV          I looked up as I heard someone approaching my office door. Soon enough it opened to reveal Damien.          “You got a min?” He remained in the doorway. At my nod he continued, “Uhm, when you touch her, you know to get her attention, have a hand behind her head. I didn’t realize how bad she would jump and she smacked her head into the wall. She does it any time you touch her. She might be a little dizzy, there is quite a bump and she’s just overall disoriented.”          “She’ll be ok,” I interrupted his rambling, we were all a little on edge with our decision. “Thank you for warning me about her hitting her head. I’ll make sure to check it again while I bring her something to eat.” He smiled slightly before exiting my office doorway.          I groaned in annoyance. We desperately needed her to listen and depend on us, no questions or doubts. Not only for our lifestyles but also to keep her safe. When we turn her, it will be near impossible to train or control her if she doesn’t depend on and fully listen to us before-hand. I just can’t wait until this whole thing was over. The only thing was, she is the only one who can determine how long this will last.          I break from my musings to make and bring food to Anna. As I was heading to the kitchen, I smelled food already being made. I entered our kitchen to see Dominic is the one cooking. It took a minute, but eventually I realized what he made, Chicken Alfredo. One of Anna’s favorite foods so far. She had lived on rice and broth with the occasional fruit for who knows how long so we were all taking turns cooking some of our favorite meals for Anna to try.          Soon enough Dom handed me a bowl and utensils to bring for Anna. I snagged a water on my way down to the cells. I noticed her cell door was open but shrugged it off. It wasn’t like she could see or hear, and even if she could her movement was limited by the collar.          I frowned upon seeing how red and chafed her neck looked beneath the collar. The enchanted iron doesn’t affect humans so I figured she had been pulling at it to cause the redness.          Taking Damien’s advice, I set the food and water down and braced a hand behind her head before getting her attention. As warned, she jerked backwards hitting my hand on the wall with her head. I could feel the bump from when she hit her head with Day. But like him, I couldn’t feel or smell blood so I assumed she was ok.          I frowned yet again as she started shaking in fear. I brought her hand up to my face to try and show who was here, but she just tugged her hand away. Saddened by her complete lack of reaction beyond fear, I started doubting our choice even more. Maybe she didn’t need this aggressive of a strategy. I would talk to the guys about shifting her to a room soon.          However, my present goal was getting our little Angel fed. I brought the food up to her mouth only for her to turn away. I figured she didn’t understand, so I placed the fork in her hand and helped guide it to her mouth. Yet again she refused to eat. This continued for almost half an hour before I decided to simply give her the water.          Unlike the food, she eagerly accepted the water and even took the bottle from me to drink on her own. I figured she might not be hungry yet as her stomach was still quite sensitive and she often refused food. She would most likely eat breakfast tomorrow so I left her alone after drinking the water.          Damien said she had cried out as he left but she simply curled back into herself when I waked away. I didn’t think much of it and went back to my office to finish up some paperwork. When I finished most of my work, I saw it was nearly five in the morning. Heading to my room, I crashed onto my bed and sleep consumed me.    Thank you all so much for taking time to read this story!
