Chapter 2

Ara set her blush brush down and reached for her ringing cell phone. She smiled when she answered it. " Hi mom" she said as she put the call on speaker and set the phone on the table in front of her. " Good morning darling. I just wanted to remind you about our plans tonight. Dinner and then a movie" Ailsa said cheerfully. Ailsa loved her daughter. She and Callum hadn’t thought they would ever produce offspring as it was incredibly hard for a vampire to carry a child. The one thing that Ailsa loved most about her daughter was that Ara didn't have the inbred hate that most others of their kind did. She judged people on their merit and actions instead of what species they were. Ara laughed softly and finished putting on the tiny bit of makeup that she wore. " I know mother, I didn't forget. I'll meet you and dad at the restaurant at seven" she said and hung up the phone. Ara shook her head as she put her things away, her long curly red hair swishing around her with the movement. She loved her parents but sometimes they could be a little intense. Ara grabbed her coat and walked out her door to start her long day of work. On her way she thought about how far they'd come. Their clan had originated in Eire, now known as Ireland. When the Hunters had started to wipe out the supernaturals, her clan had moved to the new world and settled outside of a small town now called Beacon Hills. You would never know it to look at them or talk to them but Ara and her parents were millionaires. Ara continued to grow her fortune by all the hacking and programming she did for huge companies. It was her job to make sure they were secure. Ara listened to the news as she got ready to go out with her parents. " Breaking news. There was another horrific murder on the corner of Mulholland Drive. Witnesses saw a black SUV stop at the corner and open fire on unsuspecting pedestrians. Our sources say this is the fifth shooting in a little as two weeks. There are still no leads other than authorities believe these shootings are connected with the recent killings in Beacon Hills." Ara poured herself a glass of red wine and looked at the time. It was almost time for her to meet her parents." Those Hunters really need to be stopped" she muttered to herself, shaking her head. Ara often found herself wishing she and her parents had been in Beacon Hills when all the violence happened because they would have helped Scott and his pack. With a sigh, Ara turned off her T.V and left, locking her door behind her. She had no idea how much her life was about to change.
