My siblings flanked me as I sat at a desk in Navarro's office where we were going to start my lessons, each holding a scroll filled with symbols that I couldn't understand.
''You should start with this one, Nav,'' Arin pointed to the scroll she'd give me.
''No, she needs to learn this one first, or she won't even understand that one.'' Blaise argued, and I looked at Navarro, almost pleadingly, and he smiled.
''Okay, everyone get out and let me handle this.'' Navarro came to my rescue.
''But,'' Maren said as she was pulling books from the shelf.
''But nothing, put the books and scrolls down and get out of my office.'' Navarro ordered, and pointed to the door.
''Fine,'' Arcanis said, ''I'll see you for lunch.''
Once we were alone, I slumped back in relief.
